Too far away from the ocean mudg3, not far from the Tamar, but the brown sludge doesn't constitute saltwater.

Nice response from the retailer.

"Awaiting distributor response: 07/05: Your item has been returned to the distributor for further testing, once confirmed to be faulty a replacement will be shipped out to you. "

It seems at least they've confirmed there was a problem. Fingers crossed it's naffed.

Fck this is pissing me off. Made sure everything is seated properly, fine, crash, once on reboot.

I think the board has integrated graphics, so I'll take the 7970 out and see what happens.

Yep, three very painful games without a problem

Aside from that, I don't have access to another pc or PSU, so I'll RMA and hope I see it back by the end of the year.
Edit: Also noticed this on the PCB after I'd removed it

Thx guys

my card is the same as well just not as bad, ive got the sapphire ref. 7970
EDIT: my shit still works tho

Makes you wonder what the hell is going on with these boards. I don't know enough about electronics to offer any kind of theory so, I shan't :)

Mine started off as a problem now and then reached the point of me creating the thread. Keep an eye on it, which I'm sure you are, but kind of expect the unexpected if you know what I mean.

What was the turn around from being sent from retailer to distributor?

5 1/2 weeks. PCCG were great I sent it express cause it was only three dollars more. They got it next day and sent it two days later. Their communication was a little sucky and I asked for updates about three times but happy with the end result.... If it works.

Gainward :/

Edit: Learned my lesson though, next card will be Gigabyte, ASUS, MSI or EVGA, basically if its not a 3 year manufacturer warranty I won't be purchasing.

AGP Morgoth? I'm sure I could modify 1 of my PCI-E slots for it to fit, anyone have a spare jigsaw I could borrow? :P

PCCG received and sent the item yesterday, which I'm happy with. And they've either replicated the fault or deemed the dandruff is unacceptable (der). Been reading about HIS, wish I'd done that prior to buying, and I'm expecting a horror run. Even with a 2 year warranty, outside of that, you're still covered though. I shall be keeping the ACCC website at close hand, interesting reading. http://www.accc.gov.au/content/index.phtml...consumerrights/

A mate of mine had a Panasonic plasma replaced through the retailer under the above rights, outside of manufacturer's warranty.

Still it's a good thing not being tempted to fire up Company of Heroes or World of Tanks or Mass Effect 3. The onboard graphics can handle Bloons TD 5 though...

Shall keep this thread updated.

Company of Heroes? I should start playing that again

In my random late night youtube browsing I came across footage of a mod called Modern Combat. It's sold me. So many great mods (Blitzkrieg etc, Eastern Front) and memories.

But it can wait. One more added to the wishlist for semester break

I saw that...sounds like they won't be tampering too much. Yay. The Eastern Front mod is excellent, giving a Ruski flavour to the game is always a good thing.
