You can't remove the install to go back to the previous one, it has been overwritten. -------------------- She's going to be really smart, very savvy, haunting good looks, really good at her job. And kind of slutty.

Unless it was installed on a different partition in which case she would have the option of the two installs when booting.

You can't remove the install to go back to the previous one, it has been overwritten. for a titan rank i would have expected more common sense maybe some basic questions before stating a point without knowing full details guess thats what happens when 13 yr olds make enough posts if it was me ... i would boot into her main windows ( as you pointed out she seemed to have the option to boot into her first install ) with all important files and back them up... nuke the hdd and even use a win98 boot disc to clear the MBR for good measure and reinstall from scratch end result... files are safe and a fresh install never hurt anyone who prepared for it. side note.. maybe a good time to acronis / ghost a fresh install disc for later use if required ( or just to have one for that system ) This post has been edited by antiapple: May 8 2012, 10:56 PM |

guess thats what happens when 13 yr olds make enough posts And perhaps you shouldn't comment on what you know nothing about. As the OP said QUOTE for some unknown reason she has installed windows over the top of the original then there is only one install, despite the boot loader offering dual boot. There is also no need to QUOTE boot into her main windows ( as you pointed out she seemed to have the option to boot into her first install ) with all important files and back them up if it has in fact two OSs installed. Booting from either can give direct access to the user data.Although it is generally simpler to use the relevant install to recover that data. We do really need more info though. Also completely no need to QUOTE a win98 boot disc to clear the MBR for good measure and reinstall from scratch as you can do this during the Windows install.-------------------- She's going to be really smart, very savvy, haunting good looks, really good at her job. And kind of slutty.

if theres no important files on the HDD my recomendation would be to just format the drive and start from scratch.
