The photos are clearly early 20th or late 19th century, not 30s vintage.
8mm film was initially used in about 1932, but it's adoption wasn't immediate, as everyone was already using 16mm and 8mm film was simply a cost-saving advantage.

Assuming the footage taker wasn't an early adopter, then that makes it probably 40s, when 8mm cameras were cheap.

Leprosy had treatments available by the late 30s.

If you look at the photo of the film loaded and assume that the white frame is a whole frame it looks like the perforations are in the middle of the frames, which means it's not standard-8, it's super-8 which was released in 1965.

1965.... so it's more likely to be LSD than leprosy.

You know I'm surprised this kind of thing never took off as much as it has (and also by that, the fact taht this kind of this is even still around). In a nutshell, I find its a contemporary way to tell a scary story of fiction ... and if done well can be quite entertaining. I've seen a couple in the past.

The problem I have with it, is that the method (even down to the "oh look there's some photos") is completely unoriginal :( sadly this wrecked it a lot for me.

Troll Hunter was a shaky-cam, "found footage" style movie that was very well done.

So it's out.

I must say it wasn't as good as I was hoping for, however it still has me interested. I'm definitely going to keep an eye on it to find out how it develops.
