No matter what i have tried i cannot get this game to play. What is it with steam. What ever happened to buying a game putting in the disk and enjoying it. For those of us on 15gb a month wireless internet steam is a pain in the neck. Had this game since it was released and have not been able to play one minute of it. Feel a court case coming on. Why did atomic and other magazines give it a high score when so many people have had trouble installing it.

Do you want help with the game or an answer on the review?
Cause if you want the former then I'll move this somewhere you might get an answer :) |

No offense, but being on wireless net is your own problem, you are part of a minority, as Australian's, we are all considered a minority, Digital Distribution is the way of the future and its our countries own fault that we are now so far behind the rest of the world with our infrastructure. I'd also suggest that you are the issue, 99% of people that struggle to install/play games are only having issues because their computer or their knowledge (or lack thereof) is letting them down. The fact that Atomic could give it a high score, shows us that they were able to play the game, at the end of the day, the review is about the game, not about the DRM method. -------------------- My Rig: ASUS P67 Sabretooth | i5 2500k @ 4.6ghz w/ Corsair H80 | 8gb G.Skill Ripjaw-X 1866mhz | 2x7950 @ 1000mhz CrossfireX| NZXT Phantom | Corsair HX850

What ever happened to buying a game putting in the disk and enjoying it. An offline Xbox 360, Wii, PlayStation 3, PSP, DS, 3DS etc will all do this. I personally find the majority of the time PC games are easier to play now than years ago. Very rarely do I have to install obscure hotfixes, or have incompatible CD drives, or need to open up expanded memory etc. -------------------- PC: Intel i5 2500K @4.5GHz | 8GB Corsair Vengeance LP RAM | 2x MSI GTX560 Ti Hawk in SLI | MSI P67A-GD65 | 120GB Intel 520 SSD+3TB of HDDs | Silverstone Fortress FT-02 | Dell U2711 + Dell U2311H

I gave it a high score because I had no trouble installing it, no trouble playing it, and have played it more than, quite possibly, most other games this year. I'm sorry your experience of the game doesn't match mine, but I can only ever review *my* experience of a game, not someone else's. If I have issues, and they're backed up by others, then that's something worth mentioning. But if I have zero issues, that's all I can talk about.

What exactly happens when you try to install it? You should try the "verify cache files" option on the game within steam. Should download any missing files and fix up your install.

Does not the enjoyment of a game start from when you download it or open the box to install it. The experience starts from day one. If after installation the game then has to do a 5gb patch then i am afraid that my enjoyment is seriously damaged. Surely a review should be about the overall process. Yes i can imagine that with super fast broadband that would not be a problem, but when you purchase a disk it would be nice if it was a completed effort rather than rush it out the door and let the customer patch it later. I am a pc user not a "consoler" and it gets me down when games are released then the next day, by the way you have to download a 7gb patch to play, the patch is larger than the game. Are we being taken for a ride or has this now become the norm !!!

I see your point, but I don't remember having to patch the game at release - I got home, set the game installing, made dinner and had a few drinks, and then it was ready to play. Sure, there have been updates since, but not all at once.
Did you purchase the game at launch or more recently? -------------------- aka David Hollingworth, Editor, AtomicMPC

Maybe I missed that, then :) Regardless, whatever DLing was necessary has hardly impacted my playing, obviously.

Yeah having to download content isn't really an issue. Unless you're stuck on 3G internet like the op.
But it doesn't actually impact on the game at all. |
