Ok so I bought a Silverstone Strider Revo Gold 850 to eliminate a bad PSU from my 7970 problems. Overkill maybe but I'm completely future proofing.
System was fine this morning, swapped out mb etc into a new case, fired up...nothing. I jury rigged the old Zalman and it fired up. I think there's power to the mb as the power light and reset button light up when the cord is plugged. No fans spin up, the cpu fan is seated correctly, I've tried onboard graphics and the 7970 just to eliminate any boot requirement combination. But like I said, it fired up with the zalman 4/8 and 24 pins are seated correctly and I'm pretty confident I've tried all I can with out using a multi-meter or whatever. Am I missing anything? Thank f^&k I submitted my assignment which is due Wed this afternoon. -------------------- “The problem with quotes from the internet is that it’s hard to verify their authenticity.”

Try jump starting the psu for a start
http://www.overclock.net/t/96712/how-to-ju...-and-components Basically short the green wire to any black wire with a paper clip or piece of wire. I would unplug it from the motherboard before doing it the first time to make sure. -------------------- 08/11/2012 the day the music died.

I'll sort it tomorrow, just hooking up the old PSU. My run of non pc hassles seems to have ended

Did make sure that it is switched to 230v at the psu? should already be predone on au models, but ive seen it happen before.
Check for anything earthing the system, even a dodgy fan header etc can be the cause. Disconnect everthing from motherboard apart from cpu and a stick of ram. Then try again. Worst case, RMA it. -------------------- Q9550 @4.25 w/cooled || Gigabyte P45 UD3-P || 8 gb DDRII ||GTX 480 w/cooled || Lots of HD's, Patriot Inferno SSD || LG W2242T ||
