Hi All,

In Windows 7 a green bar runs across the top of windows explorer when you open my documents, my videos or any such folder. I find that it reloads the entire folder every time and it take bloody ages watching the green bar go across the screen, particularly the video folder.

Does anyone know a way to turn this off so its like in XP it just loads once or make it faster? It really slows windows browsing down.

Thanks

First thing you can try is to rebuild the index,

Sounds like your index is fucked. The only hard drive I have that problem with is a slower 1tb external, even my (up until recently full) 1tb internal steam drive never had indexing issues.

Wow - never even seen that green bar thing, myself. I didn't even know there was such a thing.

Most annoying indexing/caching thing I've come across is one rather crammed and active folder that continually loses its icon cache. Damn thing spends five minutes gathering its marbles when opened for the first time that day, but then it's fine.

Apart from looking like the UI was designed by Fisher Price, W7 has been the best thing MS has ever done, generally speaking. For me, anyway.

It's a coloration of the address bar, like a progress bar covering it.

I get it lots on an old hdd when I record VHS tapes (which are huge files). Takes a while to properly load the files, particularly after a big delete and overwrite with new data.
