So, Gears of War 3 - personally, I can't stand it. Flame away.

However, don't flame too hard, because I also have ten beta codes to give away... yeah, you love me now! Fire me a PM ASAP to get your code :)

I have to say I've never heard of it. But I do live under a bloody big rock at times. If I can't drive it I don't tend to play it :(

Any idea if the Beta allows local multiplayer?
My girlfriend has just started playing Gears 2 lately and I don't play online anywhere near enough to justify buying gold...
NukeJockey
Spose I can give my 360 a bit of a workout. PM inc.
hawkeye
Still got a few codes to go :)
Dan_2

PM'd... fingers crossed!

Pretty keen for some more Gears action actually, should fire up GoW2 and get through the last of that map pack some time :)
hawkeye
Still one more left!

Also, share any thoughts or feedback on the game here, as Microsoft's very keen to hear what you guys are thinking of it.

You do need Gold for it :P

I've got a few 48 hour codes around here somewhere.
After I get back form Easter, I'll give it a go ;)
hawkeye
And that last one is gone!

Yeah, only got told about the Gold Membership requirement after making the offer :)

Damn, I wanted to be a part of this, oh well, I'll just wait unti the game comes out then...
NukeJockey
krispy I got a key that I haven't activated yet and you'll probably use it more than me, so I'll send it over to you. Assuming Hawkeye has no problem with that.

680mb for those interested. Looks the goods :)

EDIT - should also note there's a number of unique unlockables (weapons/characters/medals) that carry over to GoW3 :)

I had a quick bash at this yesterday afternoon before picking the child up from day-care.
Finding a game wasn't too hard which was nice.
Graphically it seems like a much lighter colour pallet has been used then the previous games which is also nice.
Game play seemed ok. But nothing I would call outstanding, and that probably due to my crap Xbox controller skills.
I like how they have structured TDM in a way that has a limited amount of re-spawns per side per round which makes for quick rounds.
Some players appear to have already mastered the game with weapon unlocks and good knowledge of the maps
This makes it hard for a n00b at gears MP such as myself to get even 1 kill which isn't much fun.
I had a look at some media on Youtube that said they would make the learning curve easy for newbie’s (greater powered weapons ect) but I found my self constantly being either shot gunned or sniped with in less then a minute of re-spawning.
This is probably no fault of the game just my lack of skill at playing gears in MP but I think it does have promise but as it stands it wouldn't be a game I would go out and buy solely for the MP experience.
However I would like to see the single player campaign.
That's my 2 cents worth so far. I will give it some more play time over the weekend.

Sounds great, thanks heaps :)

My impressions.

Finally got into the swing of it, initially was getting pretty dominated. Getting some decent Kill/Death ratios.

First up, I feel the net code is greatly improved compared to GoW2 (and 1 for that matter). It's finding better servers and I'm not having random drop outs etc.

The actual gameplay, pretty hectic, and having a lot of fun with it. I like the level layouts so far that we have access too also.

It's interesting to note the players that work together, do far better than those that just run alone, and it's very noticeable.

Whoever mentioned the new art direction being lighter, I'd agree I prefer it :)

I like the weapons that have been shown so far as well.

Realllly enjoying it. Seriously, a lot of fun. As soon as you get a decent team together, you can dominate, unless they work in a team too, and at which point the blood gets pumping, bullets flying, and swears getting yelled. So much fun :)

Sometimes if the enemy gets a drop on your spawn point it can take too long to switch spawn points, that's my largest criticism I think.
