    HD 4870X2 PCI-E question

You 100% sure the card didn't come with a 6 to 8 pin adaptor? I just got my Powercolor (sic) 4870X2 and it came with one, so I'm up and running with my CM Real 650W "SLI Ready" PSU.
  2. I've been thinking about keeping temps and noise down on the 4870X2 (picking mine up next weekend). Mainly how to get air through the cooler better. I thought of knocking up some sort of ducting system, with a 120mm fan facing out the side of the case, pushing fresh air directly through the stock heatsink with the fan removed. http://i175.photobucket.com/albums/w148/GG...ife/fannage.jpg (Not to scale) http://i175.photobucket.com/albums/w148/GG...fe/fannage2.jpg I got the idea when I noticed that even at 100%, the fan on my 8800GTS 640MB didn't move a whole lot of air. If you measured it up right, and maybe put an o-ring where the duct meets the HSF, you'd have a system with less noise, and more airflow. What do you think?

    No Emoticons?

Graphic emoticons are for children. This place is not for children. Simple! :)
  4. Hmm, thanks for the feedback guys. The idea was to get cool air from outside the case, rather than lukewarm air from inside.

How can this be done? (image)?

It's shopped, methinks. Look at the reflections on the desk. Nothing like what's on the bottom row of screens. Not only this, but I can tell by the pixels, and having seen quite a few 'shops in my time.

    Message to the mods

If he simply said "These are traces so I can practice shading, it is not my own artistic creation" instead of "This is concept art for my own production", I'd believe him. But he didn't. Traces and other copies are not art. They're copies. Do you make music when you rip a CD to MP3?

    Bloody Youtube.

I've disabled embedded images in posts, so why do Youtube videos still get shown inline? I hate youtube videos embedded in web sites. With a passion. Easy enough to hide at home, with flash blocking software, but at work I need to use IE.

    Windows Home Server

When you install it, only pick the OS'es and apps you're actually using. I learnt that the hard way, as WSUS happily filled the disk to the brim, and Exchange/OWA fell to a heap.

    Bloody Youtube.

Flashblock in firefox will give you a box with a Play symbol on it, instead of just loading the video. Thanks, but I use Opera. Should be able to find something similar though. I'd actually forgotten that Youspam is flash. Thanks for reminding me! :)

    Atomic is Invision's bitch

    Append this to your Greasemonkey script if you MUST remove the "Powered by" thing at the bottom. (function() { var replacements, regex, key, textnodes, node, s; textnodes = document.evaluate( "//body//text()", document, null, XPathResult.UNORDERED_NODE_SNAPSHOT_TYPE, null); for (var i = 0; i < textnodes.snapshotLength; i++) { node = textnodes.snapshotItem(i); if(node != null && node.nodeName == '#text' && /\S/.test(node.nodeValue)) { s = node.data; s = s.replace("IP.Board", "Pure Yellowcake Uranium"); s = s.replace("IPS, Inc.", "Yes sir, very at0mic."); node.data = s; } } })();

    Finding and Deleting identical files

Hmm. I remember writing a VBScript that does something like this, it spits the results out to a CSV file. Then I extended it to put the results in an Access table, with SHA1 hashes. I'll see if I can find it.

    Atomic is Invision's bitch

You could just write some quick n dirty Greasemonkey (or User JS in Opera) to hide it. ;) Luckily most stuff in this new setup uses an "id" or "class" that we can filter for, like I did with topic descriptions.

    Bloody Youtube.

The problem is not Youtube itself, it's the fact that I've elected not to see images, yet lo and hehold, an image.

Cases the 4870X2 will fit in to.

Interesting. Thanks for the responses guys. Coin flip now between modding my case and buying a new one. I'm a huge fan of how the P160 looks... but if I need to break any structural support, I'll bite the bullet and replace the case.

    Bloody Youtube.

    Except it doesn't fix the fact that I've opted out of seeing images in posts, but I'm still eye-raped by a big fat [ y o u t u b e ] [ / y o u t u b e ] thing in the middle of text.

    Issue 93 Feedback

Lurved it. In stark contrast to my first impression of the site. Especially loved the "big iron" article. Very informative, and will hopefully give some perspective to our younger community members.

    Some User-do-able Fixes.

OK, looks like Greasemonkey doesn't properly parse the @include and @exclude directives. When you add this script to Greasemonkey, make sure the included page is http://forums.atomicmpc.com.au/index.php?showforum* and the excluded pages are: http://forums.atomicmpc.com.au/index.php?showforum=44 http://forums.atomicmpc.com.au/index.php?showforum=49 http://forums.atomicmpc.com.au/index.php?showforum=60 What's happening at your end, bowiee, is Greasemonkey is performing the trickery on EVERY page, not just topic listings. :) If you use the script in Opera, it processes the first few lines, and everything works great.

    Some User-do-able Fixes.

Gave that a go but it screwed up the site so i could not even see the the topics on any page. Hard to explain but it shrunk the content of the page to a windows a but smaller than the reply box and when you click on page numbers the next page does the same. Did you use it together with the current version of Melkior's script? Also, I've only tested this on Opera, so YMMV.

    I Rather Dislike "topic Descriptions"

I don't like them either. My 2.6-er-iser gets rid of them. YAY for When Threads Work! http://forums.atomicmpc.com.au/index.php?s...ost&p=10465

Heh. I've fixed the subforum lists bug (badly) for now. Script is now officially awesome.
