So the girlfriend's definitely moving in

Her real eyes are somewhere in between the single and couple photo. The one of her alone has the eyes lit up a bit because I saturated the pic to bring out some more skin tone. The one of her and I doesn't really show them off well. She does have beautiful eyes though :) :) Very pretty :) Cheers

    OOOoo rejected!

You know.... Listening to you young guys planning for retirement is just plain damned depressing, life isn't about saving so you can laze around in your dotage waiting to die, or at least it shouldn't be. I'm 56, I have no plans to retire, wouldn't know what to do with myself. I'll ease off a bit in a decade or so, write more, take the jobs I like, but I really can't grasp retirement. My father never did either, he was still working a few days a week until the day he died. I have bits and pieces of super scattered all over - take very little notice of it because I don't trust it and only participate because I have to, the quicker I can cash it in and get it away from the mis-management fools the happier I will be. I don't trust savings much either, I keep enough cash to hand to not have to worry about the next bill and that's about it. I have a nice house, I own over half of it, and whatever happens it will realise more than enough to buy freehold a smaller place one day - we only use half of this place really, I was tempted to sell this year but it was a bad time, for lots of reasons, so we'll live here a while longer. This meltdown in the US was coming the day Bush was elected, he couldn't even run a company, proven fact, let alone a country. But the US economy is very robust and self sustaining, as is Australia's. There will be winners and losers but overall it's mostly a correction for the greed of the past couple of decades and a lot of people are going to be paper-poor this week, but that's not real poverty, not unless they panic sell. I've never really trusted the stock market either - understand it enough to sometimes dabble, have nothing invested right now - cashed out four years ago because I could see this coming a mile off. I have a variety of friends who play the market full time, and do ok, and one who earns a living backing horses - he's by far the wealthiest :) It will correct, probably without much more than a mild recession - which is how you measure boom times, and Australia will grow up a little and be less tied to the US economy, that's healthy. I do feel sorry for all those people in the US losing their homes but, the reality was always that they couldn't really afford them in the first place, so what has really been lost? It will only be if the fools who loaned them the money in the first place try to come after them for any shortfalls that it will get ugly - that is what the rescue package should really be about - protecting those people whilst prosecuting the fools so they don't profit from their mistakes. Cheers

:) Now, now, lay off the negatives. FE and I have lived together for about three years now and nothing has been thrown out, quite the opposite, it's nice living with someone you love, sure there are compromises, but that's half the fun ;) Nice one Tak, enjoy :) Cheers

    Happy Jew Year!

:) Israelis do indeed dance at the drop of a hat Bug. As for their air force, I pity anyone who goes up against them, they really are as good as they are portrayed, heving flown with them in their peak years it was frightening how much they outmatched all opposition. I once spoke with a guy who had flown those 109 knock-offs during the late forties - he hated them, they were apparently prone to overheating, had lousy handling and were a pig to land. He moved off of them onto Mustangs with a great deal of relief. Cheers

    Israel/Palestine

Israel's military is highly integrated, very optimised and everyone in the country is on call-up after doing national service. By contrast the Arab states might have superior numbers but they are poorly trained, poorly maintained and not particularly motivated. It's an uneven fight - every time. Sadat knew that, he just wanted one victory, to re-take some useless land in Sinai and broker a peace. Essentially he succeeded, but only because a cease-fire was brokered. Sharon had an army ready to sack Cairo when it stopped. Egypt obtained an honourable peace with Israel but enough extremists remained that he was assassinated. THAT's how deep and stupid the grudges run in Arab blood...... Remove the Jws from the equation and it would make little difference, the Arabs would turn to fighting with each other again, fighting badly, but fighting nonetheless.... Cheers

    Teenage "Love"...

I love too many :( Yeah... I probably do as well, but, I'd prefer that over indifference, I see a lot of that, including here, can't relate. The best definition of a fuckwit specifically includes insensitivity..... Something neither you nor I will ever be infected by..... Cheers

    Israel/Palestine

;) I do not disagree, but, it was never clear-cut, and that is a big part of the problem. A reality injection and a re-set is needed, but, how to do that? Cheers

    Hey, Access Denied...

:) I'm... a bit edge of spectrum Fenzy, I'll be back up there, and nothing mundane, already planning it out, just need some diary space :) Cheers

    Teenage "Love"...

Yup. The best description of love has always been to be caring more about someone else than yourself. I know whom I love specifically just from that, but, it can get broader, depends upon your bandwidth I guess ...... Cheers

    What Are You Cooking?

:) Oops, just read back, that was Fenzy, not Taz.... ;) Not to worry, both great cooking ladies :) Wasn't that sort of what you cooked when I visited Fenzy? Damn, that was good :) Cheers

    got me a new Av

:) Just as before one of my daughters was here and said "yeah dad, thats you, crazy as... :) " She doesn't know the half of it :) I do not think I'll ever sort that one out, how it is perfectly ok for me to do the shit I have done/ do, but my daughters, very competent people. I try to wrap in cotton wool :) They will doubtless ignore me, as I did my parents, the Dorsai gene endures :) Cheers

    Hey, Access Denied...

:) I don't crash GC, well, have twice, but it was in extremis in odd situations, and I'm stil here :) I tend to knock choppers 1Shot because they were never my world and whilst I once started to learn how to fly them it was never finished. I dunno, irrational prejudice, I really enjoyed a trip in a Bell 206 around Mauritius a few years back, but I'd have had more of a ball in the Mirage that was sitting on the strip - RSAF, I think I might have been able to con that one, but lady along with me would have been far from impressed :) Cheers

    Hey, Access Denied...

*Sad smile* You got that right Linux, been a few years.... five... bloody annoying, especially when I have open invites all over but can't fit it in.... Next year.... :) Well 1Shot, I did figure she might want the first hot seat :) Just part of flying hot jets, I always made sure I was fully versed, and just once it paid off, but, really, odd thing, I always was more involved in bringing the lady back, the seat was exit of last resort :) Cheers

    Paul Newman dies at 83

:) I will Squids, but, when it comes to pasta mine own rocks and its end-of-day therapy to make one - something Paul Newman would have well understood :) Cheers

    Paul Newman dies at 83

There was a story on ACA about him tonight. All profits from his sauces and dressings went to profit. As at ten years ago, outside of the USofA, Australia was their largest market and he was quite surprised by that. Is one of those profits meant to be charity? :) Bloody pedant... :) The PN foundation ensures that all profits go to nominated charities, a model of philanthropy, God alone knows how much time he donated to that but it was a LOT. To be honest I have never tried his sauces, I make my own, but, perhaps I should for the philanthropy and a semi-night off ;) Cheers

    Hey, Access Denied...

:) No you don't... bloody silly machines, come fly with me, jet time and pull it in tight :) Utterly safe..., I don't break airplanes, but you might find the world a little close :) you can have the back seat, it ejects first :) .... *Sigh* I REALLY must go do that again soon, that or jet-rehab :) Cheers

    What Are You Cooking?

:) Well the dinner party went well, just eating the leftovers. A big thanks to Taz for suggesting Chicken Wellington, that worked well - I did two, breast fillet in each, Kiev style with galic butter, duxelels and wrapped. The beef was stunning though, hung for two weeks, marinaded over night in Shiraz and pepper, trimmed of all sinew/fat and then wrapped, nice coating of pate and a generous coat of duxelles. Served it all with honey carrots, roast potatoes and broccoli/cauliflower cheese plus a really good bearnaise and a demi-glaze, lots of full people :) Desert I slaved over - straight from the freezer, blackberry and apple pie and cheesecake, did add cream :) Had some good cheese and crackers to finish, and great coffee, plus excellent wines during the meal - was good :) Cheers

    New Car Time

:) As a Peugeot devotee I'd suggest a look at 2nd hand 306's, plenty of room, nice hatch, good economy and reliable as all hell, plus fun to drive. You'd get one for well under $20k. Cheers

    Israel/Palestine

If we could exclude the rest of the world it might work. :} Yeah, one war should have been enough... In the end it is the waste that irritates me the most, the distraction from valid goals. Israel has gone from zilch to hugely viable in sixty years, but has had to deflect huge amounts of its output to survival. It doesn't have oil, it really only has brain power, and it has been applied rather well. Cheers

But the mods will tell you you're contributing to the sickness with that attitude! Well, maybe not all mods, just Mac Dude. :) Define "the sickness...." What's under that T shirt looks tasty :) Cheers

    Israel/Palestine

:) So true, on both points, arabs are racist, however, so are Jews..... Pretty good recipe for conflict.... It is a pity more people on both sides do not chat the way we do, with mutual respect and understanding and offering of information and advice. Perhaps we should organise a rather large LAN, only about 60 million nodes :) Cheers
