    The next picture will...

My camera has been getting quite lonely, so I think it's about time I get it out again. Sometimes I can be a bit too literal: The next image will be out of place.

It's been a while, but I'm back with more. These are from my photography tute, we were allowed to use Photoshop, but had to take the photos with our phones:

Glad to hear it's all set up nicely now. Dell seem to make some decent screens, at reasonable prices. I agree that Apple's screens are priced quite high, though they are pretty good.

Alternatively, when it is extended mode you can go to: Apple Menu > Settings > Displays > Arrangement. Then you just drag the little white bar to the box representing the screen you want.

Well, it's been a while. I haven't gotten out with my camera. Too busy trying to get assignments in. It's like pulling teeth! Sometimes I wonder why I quit a good job to go to uni... Anyhow. Pictures, as usual, on my 50mm 1.8: (ISO 400, f8, 1/1000) (ISO 100, f8, 8sec) (ISO 100, f5.6, 1/250)

Thanks, I appreciate it. After my 18-55 died, I replaced it with a 50mm 1.8. I then got carried away with having such a large aperture available, and took a lot of rubbish photos with insufficient depth of field. I think I'm starting to get the hang of it.

Antraman, he may have had a motor strapped to his back, but if he did, I couldn't hear it. These were taken wandering around the Hunter Valley Gardens. (ISO 100, f2.5, 1/1000) I would have been happier if I could have taken a few more paces backwards to get a wider shot, but there was nowhere left to go. Time to get another lens besides my 50mm 1.8. (ISO100, f5.6, 1/320)

Man, they're some awesome photos! I really love the progression between them too.

Restoring from a Time Machine backup

/facepalm. My Google-Fu is weak. Thanks.

Restoring from a Time Machine backup

I've used Time Machine to back up my machine for a long time now, but I've never had a cause to restore from it. Now that I have decided to do a clean install of Lion, I am wondering if I can restore bits and pieces, selectively, from my backup on the new install (like email and my iTunes library). I feel fairly confidant that it'll be possible, but I'd rather be safe then sorry...

These photos are more recent, having been taken on my 50mm f1.8, in the last couple of weeks. These are at Catherine Hill Bay, south of Newcastle. For #2, in Aperture, I reduced the highlights and brightened the shadows a bit, and bumped up the saturation one notch. Is there somewhere decent to host my photos? I've used Flickr, but some of the pictures I uploaded have horrible JPEG artefacts. How do you guys put your pictures online?

I figure that it is now time to stop hiding in the shadows, and show everyone my efforts. It's nearly been a year since I bought my friends old EOS 300D, and have taken nearly 3000 photos, most of which are quite crap, though I am improving as I figure out the camera's foibles. I will kick this off with photos I took last Christmas holidays, when I drove back to Adelaide. I took this one on Christmas day, near my parent's place down the end of the Fleurieu Peninsula: This is down near the mouth of the Murray River. I can't remember see so much water in it! I got this one wandering through a section of the Scott Creek Conservation Park: I would appreciate some constructive criticism of my photos, so I can learn to take better ones.

This shot looks absolutely unreal, love it. Thanks man. That's my least favorite of the lot! :P Seriously? That photo is, IMHO, the coolest!

    iPad 2

I have a 16GB 3G, and bought it at its launch price, which was a tad over $800. The iPad 2 is an incremental upgrade, and, given that my iPad is set up as I like it, and is well integrated into my operating schema, the iPad 2 shows no compelling reason for me to upgrade.
