    Time to have babies

Big decision. I have three children. On one hand they're the greatest thing to happen. On the other, they're my biggest regret. Not because of the effort, the sleepless nights, the cost, but the fact that the world is shitty, and getting shittier and shittier.

LOTRO - New expansion and an amazing reveal.

Its been a couple of years since I played this game (left because it was too addictive). I remember something about a lucky horseshoe, and people where putting it on when opening loot chests. Is this the shoe?
  3. Sorry, this is as far as I got before TLDR kicked in. So, this is why we're hearing from the 99.99% of the non-retarded majority condemning this? Not sure how anyone can defend these morons. The fact they are protesting a video on youtube should be enough to lock them up for being mentally unstable. Not sure how we're letting any more of these crazies into the country. Deny visa's, and sink boats please.
  4. It is? I could have sworn it was an exhortation for lurkers to become active members. But never let the OP determine what the thread is actually about - we'll just judge these things by whatever drift people want to put on it. :P what is this, i dont even.... There are a number of comments in this thread about how active the forums once were. No, the op did not explicitly state this, but that is the nature of discussion, it evolves and diverges. And why else is there a stickied thread on such a subject? Like some have said, the main forum was once updating all the time, now it takes 3+ days push older threads to page 2. You have to admit, Atomicmpc was once an awesome, large, thriving online community. No longer. Some greedy bugger thought it would be a great idea to start to enforce a ridiculous pay-to-contribute model, which turned half the members away overnight. Ironically, Atomicmpc should've known its demographic would've rejected this idea; they probably wouldn't even have gotten away with it if it was "dolly.com" or something. Basically, Atomicmpc had what money can't buy now. But they failed to realise the community built itself. It did not stop someone thinking it was a good idea to make money out of it and it backfired spectacularly. And then there are morons that make stupid comments like Nich that just make it worse for other members.
  5. Well, happens I know Pray quite well, unsurprising since he is related to me. He has not had an alt, and has had a lot more than 5 posts, and I'm certain he has been a member even longer than I have. Anyways, what ever. He's not coming back here. Over it.
  6. The thing is, this is a thread with a theme of lamenting the good ol' days when the forums were very active. An old member drops in... yeah, he has a bit of a whinge, but his account has been affected with some glitch where his post count has been reset. This is a known problem from way back. He is accused of having alternative accounts, and he disputes that. Still the mods here keep going on about him creating a new alt account. And they're wondering why this forum is deserted now. Atomicmpc was once my homepage. I even used to have the "is it atomic? YES ITS VERY ATOMIC" jingle for my Windows startup sound. Unfortunately, I was an immature troll/tool back then though (still am?), and am grateful that that past is now hidden away in the archives somewhere. Anyways, I guess I'm bitter that this once awesome forum has been reduced to troll moderators just chatting amongst themselves.
  7. Holy shit. Really? The guy says he has made more posts than 4, and says he's been around for ages, and you say something completely retarded about creating alts, and you're still acting stupid about it. The forums got all fubar'd some time ago, and I know he was around when it was v1. I thought this was common knowledge, especially for a moderator. Then again, it seems they've made most posters moderators now... And this is in a thread asking people to join the community...
  8. Because he said as much?
  9. Yes... Are you asking what that means? Or why the comment is stupid? You think Pray has made four posts? Clearly something has happened to his post count since V3. I thought it was obvious. OT: it seems most posters are mods/heroes/supers. Maybe you should make everyone who signs up as a mod/hero/super, so newbs dont feel like they're in the minority.
  10. I've been a member for some time now, and drop in every now and then out of boredom mostly. Its sad that the forums now feel very deserted... I basically went looking around at other forums back when I had to enter in a green code or something. I was even a sub at the time, so it wasn't a matter money, but just a matter of considering it a stupid idea. Then I found my avatar missing and post count reset and all that. I think the forum administration should write a book about how to kill an online community. Anyways, its still good to drop in and see some of the old regulars posting though, so I'll visit every now and then. You've made 4 posts (now) on this account. You could always mention you have another account (and what it is), and maybe people would recognise you! Stupid comment. Pray was around even before me, and I think I was around here ~2000. Well, I remember "V2" launch, (as well as the "fake V-Too").

    Newstart allowance

I agree, it would be nice if the government paid for child care, or if there were 'public' childcare places that were free like public schools are. My partner is currently working, but towards the end of the third trimester, her job may not be doable, in which case she will need to go on some form of government payment because her boss doesn't have a maternity leave plan in place (small business, 1 owner, 2 workers). Apparantly between when she stops working and when she has the bub, she can go on newstart to subsidise some of the lost income, but we're still going to struggle a little bit because she'll basically be on a quarter of her current wage. Once we have the bub and the paid parental leave is over, she's going to have to go back to work. My sister, had a kid just over a year ago and hasn't gone back to work yet, she was living on $250 a fortnight, after her husband moved to perth for work (shes going eventually) and she really struggled. IMO people who have to look after kids deserve more money than the slack fucks that sit around smoking weed all day and not contributing to society. Its a weird world we live in. I would disagree. Cant afford kids, don't have them, or adjust your lifestyle to accommodate. Thinking that you deserve more money to have children is just as bad as the dole bludgers who think they deserve more money to do fuck all. In most cases, they're both choices. (Yes, I have three young children). Being economically right wing I can empathize with that statement. However there is a reality you've faile to appreciate: 1. The population is aging 2. An aging population requires more welfare 3. On the current tax base we can't afford more welfare 4. To afford more welfare we need to raise retirement age (done), raise taxes (not done) Or we could avoid the future tax rises with the proven long-term economic benefit of having kids to keep the population aging in check. As our best treasurer of all time said (paraphrasing) - have one for mum, one for dad and one for the country. And if you need help - means tested help should be available. It's on the country's best interests. I like to think in sustainable terms. What the "best treasurer of all time" has postulated as the solution to our problems is exponential growth. I believe that most of the worlds problems are due to exponential growth, particularly human reproduction. We don't need more people, we need less. Likely far less. Anyways, that is another argument. One question I have though is why we accept that "an aging population requires more welfare"? Yes perhaps that is true, as at the very least there will be less tax payers, but how much are we talking here? Isn't this what savings and super are for. What about family and friends? It is only very recently in human history that people think its the govt's responsibility to look after our elderly. /shrugs.

    Newstart allowance

Are you suggesting that if you lost your job, the govt (i.e. taxpayers) should pay up enough so you can keep the same standard of living, including paying so you can own your own home? And regarding the work for the dole thing, I have no experience with this, but surely it would be beneficial in some/most cases? Getting people out working, doing something productive, gaining skills and experience, plus providing a benefit to society?

    Server 2003 specific users policy

I have a few stand alone terminal servers. No active directory, no domain, nothing fancy. Just windows Sever 2003. The software that this server runs set up a user automatically (on installation) that has windows locked down. No task manager, no cmd prompt access, etc. I want to create another user, that also has been locked down. I've created a new user, added this user to the same groups that the above user is, but its not working. Looking further into it, I can't figure out how to even view the settings/differences between the various groups on the server. I've looked in to group policies, but then can't work out how to apply the policy to the users/groups. All the online help seems to details about how to apply group policies to OU or via active directory. I haven't got this! Any ideas?
  15. Seems I've missed the party by about 6 months, and now everyone is over at the Ivy-Bridge rave. Anyways, better late than never. I haven't been into new cpus for a while with my last one being an E8400. My new 3930K is quite the upgrade. System CPU:3730k - Stepping 7, Rev C2. Motherboard: Asus Sabertooth x79 RAM: G.Skill 16GB 2133MHz Quad kit Cooling: Corsair H100 Case: Coolermaster Storm Trooper PSU: Coolermaster 1050W I've hit 4.7GHz, stable with 1.33V. Temps seem ok, but not sure. Does mid 50s on the "CPU Temp" seem ok? My "VCORE" temp (apparently this is the VRM temp on ASUS boards) is sitting high 70's. I'm not sure if this is a problem or not. I'm testing 4.8GHz now. BSOD with 1.34V, failed Prime with 1.35V, and now just testing with 1.36V. If this isn't stable, I'll have to play with some other settings, as 30mV+ for 100MHz more doesn't seem right. I'm a pretty far from understanding all the weird and bizarre options in the BIOS, but there seems to other ways to get stability. Let me know your thoughts. Cheers. Also, it seems the C2 revisions are a fair bit of an improvement. Most people need 1.4GHz+ to get similar results on the older CPU's.
