    New mid to high-end build

Hmm, I did some reading this morning about those issues. They complicate things a bit. I found the Gigabyte G1 Gaming GTX 980 for $775 so I'll probably go for that.

I made some suggested adjustments to the build and changed a few major things for the sake of a smaller budget. I figured I'd downgrade to a GTX 970 and leave the possibility for SLI in the future. To accommodate this, I kept the higher-watt GPU and changed to an SLI mobo. I thought 750W wouldn't be adequate for 2 overclocked 970s so I opted for 850W instead of 750W, is that reasonable? Thanks guys, that's really good advice. I'll post an updated build soon.
  4. I've viewed these forums intermittently over many years, thanks to all the people that continue to maintain the "Parts Guide" sticky, it's great. I'm building a new computer and I've based my build off the builds found in the "Parts Guide". Would you guys mind having a look over it and making any suggestions/corrections? My budget is flexible but somewhere between $1500 - $2000 AUD. I'm definitely interested in over-clocking (although I've never done it before) and hopefully I'll be gaming at 2560 x 1440 resolution. CPU Intel® Core™ i5 4690K $390 MB Asus TUF GRYPHON Z97 $188 RAM Kingston Hyper X Fury 8GB (2x4GB) $99 GPU Gigabyte WindForce 4G GTX 980 $705 OR Gainward GeForce GTX 980 Phantom 4GB $709 OR Galax GeForce GTX 980 V2 4GB $649 SSD/HDD --Reclaimed from previous build-- PSU Corsair RM650 650Watt $175 CASE Nanoxia Deep Silence 1 $129 CPU_COOL Corsair Hydro Series H100i CPU Cooler $159 TOTAL ~$1845 + shipping 1. Is the 650W PSU enough, should I go for the 750W instead? 2. Does anyone have any thoughts on the Z97 motherboards, is there any preference towards a particular model? 3. The GPUs are about the cheapest GTX 980s I could find. Am I better off trying to get the best clock for buck (Gainward) or getting the cheapest card and overclocking myself (Galax)? When I'm done I'll post some build pictures, although I can't promise anything flashy.
