NBN - Is it too expensive?

Why would they not just make it a "best possible" speed tier? No big deal though, just move to a provider that offers what you want. So long as NBN don't do the same... although i can't see that happening otherwise they're pretty much saying the network is shit.

The Atomic era concludes and we were magnificent

Wow, one of the few forums left that i still visit. I still remember the day that i found Issue #1 in the newsagent one day. Pretty sure i bought every issue after that. All good things must come to an end... i guess.

    The coronavirus conspiracy

Seems to be a lot of this type of thinking going on with this app. What if i sit on a seat that an infected person was on? What if someone coughs around me? What if i touched something infected? Sort of like "if it can't detect the virus and make a me a coffee for the inconvenience, what's the point?" Which is really dumb thinking. The whole point is to alert those who may have been in situations where the risk is increased, that is being in close proximity for extended periods to an infected person who may not have known at that time but has since been tested positive. You can't account for everything which is why the isolation and distancing measures are in place. This is just another means to help track and isolate potential outbreaks. Listening to some of the vox pops on news reports about this, i think we're doomed. People really scraping the bottom of the excuse barrel for reasons why they won't use it. In an age where amazon and google probably know more about you than members of your family, people are really way too paranoid about something that could potentially save many peoples lives. Govt needs to work on making people understand how and why it works and just how benign it really is in the context of big data. Maybe they need to show some sort of comparison: this is what covidtrace collects... this is what Facebook collects when you open the app/post. Maybe then people might get the idea?

    The coronavirus conspiracy

Odd that, isn't it? Last I recall the excuse was that it takes some time to go down because they have to sell the fuel they paid the higher price for. Never really explained how the fuel they have and paid a cheaper price for magically goes up the instant price hikes are announced.

hehe, scruffy's post above was the most enlightening thing in the last 2 pages.

    The coronavirus conspiracy

Last i read it was the BCG vaccine which Wikipedia tells me has been around since 1921. So it's had a loooong time to ensure it doesn't have any major side effects. From what i've read the biggest issue is giving it to people that are immuno-compromised which can cause complications. You'd hope that today we'd be able to ensure that only those healthy enough would be candidates for it. Given all that he's done in the past few decades post-Microsoft, he's probably one of the few people in the world where anything he says should be taken at face value. Highly unlikely there's any subterfuge behind it.

    What's on your mind?

I'm sure there's extensions for it. I used to use a browser that did that at the press of a button. Vivaldi has page filters for invert and black/white with 2 clicks. Per page only though. So there are options.

    What's on your mind?

I've asked similar questions like "would you start a business selling something for ~$200 and support that product for 10yrs+ with no ongoing payments?" ...and i've never got an answer. Apparently it doesn't count when it affects them, but more than happy to if they can take advantage of it. How can that be? I thought Windows was the only OS that dies mid-upgrade, and that Linux is the saviour of all users from the hell that is Windows 10 and will be taking over any day now... /s

    The Ukraine plane crash

https://www.abc.net.au/news/2020-01-11/iran-admits-to-shooting-down-ukrainian-plane/11860508 Seems like they've admitted it was them, although apparently it was unintentional.

    i see dead people

+1 During that 17yrs after the diagnosis & treatment, Marie managed to go around the world a couple more times and released a few new albums as well. Things that many people thought would never happen. Big loss for a long time fan. But the music lives on...

    What's on your mind?

With the amount of preying going on due to all the shootings in the US, there should only be love and well wishes flying around everywhere - not bullets.

    Problems with the 737MAX ?

It's definitely a concern. Although since the initial battery issues i don't recall there being any major disaster related to the 787. This site seems to agree. So it seems to have a good record up till now. Although maybe the batch of planes that this affects hasn't made it to the air yet??
