  1. The Reserve Bank reference is a complete load of shite! According to that every coin ever issued in Australia, other than the 'holey dollar' and 'dump', are still legal tender. That's bullshit. Not even banks will accept decimal copper coins of round 50c coins, and pre-decimal copper coins (along with threepenny pieces) have been a "go bugger off" scenario for many decades!

    Red Moon Rising

Yep. Clouds. Ripped off badly :/
  3. It's actually worth zip, coz it's no longer legal currency. And good luck finding a buyer for it unless the thing is in mint condition, coz they aren't exactly a scarce item. I've a pile of the buggers out in the back shed. Leftovers from an estate, and kept for the kids to play with, basically. Selling them is too much stuffing about for too little return. Anyways... I'm all for 'big government' and higher taxation to pay for it. Privatisation and 'small government' experiments have been an abject failure imo. We had better and more affordable services available to us before all the bullshit started. How is it worth zip if its made out of silver? its not legal currency but it still has valuable metals in it Contains 10.624 grams of silver. Which is worth, theoretically, about $7.20 at current pricing. Also contains 2.66 grams of copper, which is worth about half a swallow of an Aldi-purchased stubbie. But the bloke has ONE. Think about that, hey huh? By the time he drives around, finds someone who'll actually purchase it from him for the silver content (rather than laughing and telling him not to be such a dickhead), and then gets back home with his 'wealth' he's already spent more than he's made from the fucken sale. Hence why I said it's worth zip. Got theoretical value, but in practical terms it's basically not worth stuffing around trying to recover it.

    Fun with "Microsoft" phone scammers

Wasting their time is wasting my time. I haven't enough years left to live to be bothered with that shit! My stock response: Caller -" Hello sir. I'm calling from Microsoft...." Me - "Thank you for the call. So that I can verify it is legitimate please tell me your Microsoft Employee Number and your office location. I will call you back." or, if I'm pissed off in general when the call comes in: Caller - "Hello sir. I'm calling from Microsoft...." Me - "No, you're not! Goodbye."

Winds that strong are still scary enough :) Good to hear you're OK. And great to see that it downgraded dramatically after it crossed the coast. Been following this with interest and concern. I've got kids up that way who are my grandchildren under Lore.

    ZR2740w monitor power

Pretty sure you'll find that the manually switchable stuff will be denoted as "Input 110v/240v" rather than "Input range...." or "Input 110v - 240v"

Way to confront a cyclone, eveln. Pissed on port. Very impressed! So glad I'm not camped at my favourite spot at the mouth of the Bloomfield right now :/

    Beating Atomic's Record

Standard forum practice is to have 'Admin Email messages' enabled by default in member profiles. Mass mailout can be done and will go to all members who haven't altered their settings to disable them. But for some strange reason admin email is default disabled in this particular forum install configuration.

Stay safe, any Atomicans up that way. I've good friends and family at Cooktown and at Wujal Wujal. Thoughts are with everyone up that way.

    (Public Announcement) Heartbleed bug

I maintain 4 or 5 logins/passwords that I switch between and rotate from time to time. Whenever someone or something reacts to a currently talked about 'security scare' by forcing a password reset I'm all "Ho hum..." and then change it back to what I wanted it to be. Been doing it (with the same sets of usernames/passwords) for 15 years or more, and it serves me well enough.

Unable to log in using IE

Oh I'd be making loud noises beforehand to ensure cross-browser compatibility is sorted before going Live with a new forum. Too important to ensure that peeps can post from workplaces, schools and such. If the software chosen doesn't end up having a compatible editor, then it'd need a third-party addin editor to correct the deficiency.

    Is this a PSU problem?

Goes to show. Can always learn new tricks. I've been fiddling with PCs since XT clone days, and never knew that one. I've always just left rigs sit for a while before powering up again, if they were chucking periodic hissy-fits like that.
  15. Yeah, just check the specifications for the motherboard before you commit. Most will have a header for serial port. I *might* have a slot riser to suit out in the shed, if you're stuck for one.
