No the engine covers are all metal however, the arrow head shaped cover in the middle is a mix of metal and plastic.

Mate I have always had the need but now I want a more transitional bike that has sporty performance yet has a laid back riding position before I go the full hog and get an Indian Chief in 6 years or so. They are no slouch either. Stock Octanes have 104 hp and 103 Nm (76 ft-lbs) and with the stage 2 and air box the figures pump up to 114 hp and 108 Nm (80 ft-lbs). Not bad for a 249Kg (wet) Yanky V-Twin. Also they are quite nimble and corner much better then you would think. Performance wise the only Harley that has better stock figures is a V-rod however, they cost between $9k to $13k more (depending when the Octane was bought) and weight just over 300Kg's and therefore, end up having a lower power to weight ratio then the Octane. Is it faster then an pure sports bike like an R1 or GSXR-1000? nope but, it is more than fast enough to keep a smile on the dial and never get bored with it! Polaris, Victory's parent company shut them down on the 9th of Jan this year due to a number of reasons however, mismanagement was a big factor behind it and the lack of marketing therefore, low sales. They actually made very good high quality bikes but when upper mangement sucks you end up in the red for the tune of 100 million dollars. What did that mean for buyers, big deals! If I bought the Octane before the shutdown announcement it would have been $21.5K with pipe and box instead, I got it for $16K with pipe and box and also got $800 worth of vinyl wrap thrown in too! It was a deal I just could not pass up especially when put up against the other bikes on my short short. Triumph Bonnie Bobber ($20K), Triumph Thruxton R ($22K), Triumph Street Triple 675 RX ($17K) and the Kawasaki Z900 ($14.5K). The other plus side is that you don't see many Victory's let alone Octanes on the road so it is a little more unique which is the way I like it.

If you like a nice simple rules set with a small amount of minis in a small play area that can be played in 30 to 60 mins, then this could be for you. The tank stats and movement are abstract however, they do give you the feel of the vehicle without bogging you down in overcomplicated data. I have a group that meets approx once a month and plays boardgames. Of the 4 of us 3 are wargammers from way back and the other has only been a boardgamer. We played tanks one night and our boardgamer friend loved it because to him it felt more like a board game and he was able to pick up the rules in about 5 minutes. Games like this that bridge the gap between wargame and boardgame are very useful in introducing non-wargamers to wargaming.

Ok just a tad late! MOAB was great as usual. The thing that stood out the most was how much GW games are dying at least in the tournament scene. Fantasy was non-existent and 40k was just a foot note. The big hitters were Bolt Action, Flames of War and Team Yankee with nice turn outs in the smaller games. I made just over $300 in the buy and sell which was nice and was able to clear out stuff I have not touched in years. All in all another great day out. If you have never been it is well worth a look even if you are not into tourney play you will find a lot of retailers in one spot and meet like minded people.

Just getting ready to head off to MOAB. Again I'm not competing however I still enjoy droping in and soaking up all of the wargaming goodness. There is going to be a Tanks demo all weekend which I'm excited about as I would love to see more people get into this great little skirmish game that really is very cheap to get into compared to other games around. Will post a report once I get back.

What are you playing at the moment?

Picked up Titan Quest Anniversary Edition on sale the other day even though I still have the original disks for TQ and IM. Love it when it first came and out and loving it again now. I was even able to insert an old save game without a problem which was a bonus!
  9. It was a driver issue that did not effect everybody and Nvidia did release a hotfix driver for those effected however, people are saying that they are not having any problems since the release of driver 370.72. When new cards are released there are always some driver problems here and there but once the cards have been out in the wild for a month or 2 things usually get fixed and settle down.
  10. I agree with Master_Scythe about dropping the CPU cooler but for the reason of upgrading the graphic cards. 1) You can always get a CPU cooler later on if you find that you need or want it. 2) The money you save from not getting the CPU cooler now means you can upgrade the GTX 960 to a GTX 1060 3gb or for another $35 more (plus what you would have spend on the cooler) grab a GTX 1060 6gb. Much better option IMO then a cpu cooler at this point.

GTX 1080, is it worth $500?

What is the res of your monitor? I ask because there is no use buying a GTX 1080 if your monitor runs at 1080p as you are just wasting your money when a cheaper card like a 1070 or even a 1060, will be able to perform at the levels you want.
  12. My opinion is that you don't need anymore RAM. 8GB is fine and you would be better served by just saving your money for a better graphics card. This vid is over 3 years however, it is still relevant.

What are you playing at the moment?

I have been playing Middle-earth: Shadow of Mordor lately and I am thoroughly enjoying it.
  14. Honestly these days you are just better off going with the best single card you can afford as you will have less hassles. Not all games are optimised for multi-GPU set ups and unless you are running games on a very high res monitor or a decent multi-monitor set up then you really don't get much benefit out of multi-card setups. Just wondering what is the native res of your monitor?
  15. As per the title. https://www.bundlestars.com/en/bundle/middle-earth-shadow-of-mordor-bundle
