    Darn Coalition surveilance laws. Why?!

Nope, not secret at all. It's right out there in the open where everybody can see the torn flyscreen.

What Did You Watch Lately ?

Half Life in Unreal: And the wild thing is that ^that clip is far from as amazing as UE4 can get. Sure does make me want to play HL again, though! Unity 2018 can get pretty amazing too, btw. Not being in that area myself, I have to rely on 2nd-hand information, but the two engines appear to me to be tied for place in capability; UW4 leading for flexibilty an Unity for ease of use - but neither by much.
  3. Ease up a sec... I've been kinda on the same horse, but that's arse about: the advertising follows the trends. *Fashion* titles can influence trends, sure, but retailers just serve up what sells. In the case of grossly overweight / morbidly obese models, well they kinda need those to show off the tents they have to stock for their house-sized clients. Fat acceptance has been pushed for at least a decade by a specific subset of (very) fat, whinging feminazis - the same ones now at the forefront of university fires and deplatforming riots in the US. Prime example: Trigglypuff. The woman this mammoth was interrupting/shouting over/protesting is Christina Hoff Summers, btw - a more centred and calm person you would be challenged to find. Even when you don't agree with her, you can't possibly construe what she has to say as 'hate'. But that's pretty typical of this brand of entitled whale. (Yes, this clip is 2 years old. This kind of person was at UniSA back in the early '90s - you'd be niave to think they'd vanished in just the last couple of years.)

    What's on your mind?

That's not a new piece of info, Eve - media goes off on that topic about once a year (or did until I stopped watching TV maybe 2 years ago - albeit mostly 'science' shows). The complaint about that usually goes hand in hand with wailing about US-based TV/Web doctors who push bullshit products in exchange for truckloads of money.

    Israel did it.

I /ignored this guy years ago. It's been great for my blood pressure.

    They have finally arrived. Maybe.

X-Ants ? That's all we need - fireants that can actually throw balls of fire.

Totally agreed. I'm not a huge Joplin fan myself, but that one is a helluva tune and for a kid so young to blitz that so hard is nothing short of astonishing. Actually, I think the last time I was wowed in quite the same way was when a chubby Irish goofball blew the fucking doors off of Mustang Sally in The Commitments.

"Talent" shows normally leave me quite cold - partly because of the way they seem bent on pressing everything unique into the same bland 'pop' mould, and partly because they're so scripted. That said, sometimes the uniqueness I just mentioned is pretty damned phenomenal - to wit: (FTR, I do not think there is anything fake about that performance. Whilst the adult judges can be easily be accused of acting their surprise, if that kid was feigning anything she deserves a frikken Oscar not a piddly golden buzzer.)
  9. Muse: Y'know what? Fuck "fat shaming". Except for the vanishingly small number of people who have an actual barely-treatable medical condition, being fat IS something deserving of shame. I'm overweight (not grossly, but still); I got that from enjoying food, eating the wrong food, and not doing enough physically to burn it off. Being fat is viewed as unattractive by this society and IMO with good cause. If I value desirous gazes more than creature comforts, it's up to ME to change my circumstances, NOT to society to change. What the fuck is with people these days? No goddammed sense of self - everything is society's fault. Fucking adult-age children can't even handle being informed of biological facts without needing safe spaces filled with plushies and colouring books.
  10. Height is not an accurate proxy. A bodybuilder is not in the same category as couch potato just because they're both 180cm tall.
  11. BMI takes no account of density - ie: mass|volume ratio. Anyone with a decent quantity of muscle comes up as 'fatter' on the BMI than they should - meanwhile, if you do nothing at all and have osteoporosis, you can even shave a bit off from where you should read. There are displacement scales around these days, but they're not in common use yet.
