  1. definately going to add some of those Xigmatek fans!
  2. ok, not really going for a full Carbonite Chamber mod, just taking design elements to make a theme for my Thermaltake case. Going for the 'industrial metal' look on the side panels and adding the orange lighting design to the front and top.
  3. What does the metallic paint actually do? I've never seen this technique done before. something i worked out myself.on clear fans, it makes the whole fan glow rather than just where LEDs point to it. on everything else, it makes it more reflective and sparkly. Sounds good. Do you have any pics or vids of these at work? Been brainstorming, and being the Star Wars fan that I am (happy Star Wars Day everyone! May the 4th be with you!) I have decided to use Cloud City's Carbon Freezing Chamber as a template:

  5. If I was ever to do a themed mod, it would have to be Star Wars or Marvel. sorry Scythe... Wreck it Ralph seems a little too "kiddie" for a 30 year old man! not really interested in window mods either, they are so 2005... besides won't be putting much in it worthy of showing off... will be more of a productivity or work-bought-home-from-work machine. I am and always will be a fan of custom lighting in the form of fans, LEDs and cold cathodes :-)
  6. Hi all, I have some spare time and a Thermaltake V3 Black Edition lying around which needs some attention. I've decided to do a casemod on it for my next desktop PC case, but I'm having a huge mental blank whenever I try to come up with any ideas for this case. Does anybody know if there are any casemods on the internet (I've done a bit of searching myself, but found nothing) or has anyone done one on the same or similar case? I'd love to hear all of your ideas. Thanks in advance!

    DeepCool, really cool?

Nah, need black casing with green blades like these.

    DeepCool, really cool?

I currently have 6 DeepCool XFAN 120L/B (12", clear with blue LEDs) in one of my cases. I found them on eBay last year for US$6.00 each. They are usually pretty quiet in my case, unless my system is under alot of strain (i.e Playing MW3 while encoding a couple of TV rips and downloading files through µTorrent) then I can hear them pretty loudly, but no louder than most standard generic fans (try a 'cheapie' CPU), but think of generic fan loudness x6! Temps rarely rise above 66°C and it was a 33°C day here today and I'm using a standard Intel CPU cooler. I'm pretty happy with these fans, but unfortunately they don't come in a black/green colour I am using for my current case build.

    PC sh@t itself - help?!

Have you tried resetting your CMOS? Edit: Forgot you already tried that. I had the same problem a couple of years ago on my MSI K8N Neo-Platinum. Motherboards can be such touchy things at times, and it only takes one setting in your BIOS to upset it. In my experience, there's no better fix than resetting the CMOS using either jumper pins, or removing the battery for at least 15 minutes. Start stripping down hardware to see if any of it is causing any trouble, I know it might sound like a far stretch but maybe something is faulty. Strip your mobo in this order: HDDs, Optical Drives, PCI Cards, Graphics Cards (unless you dont have onboard graphics to monitor), Memory, Processor. If you get down to a bare mobo, and resetting your CMOS doesn't work, I'm afraid you're probably up for a new mobo. I work in the Government sector, doing the same procedure every day to faulty PCs. Usually we don't spend much time troubleshooting hardware (we mostly troubleshoot software side of things. In your case, it's an impossibility that editing msconfig could have caused all of this), and if the faulty hardware can't be fixed then we usually bin it and replace it straight away. Are you getting any beep error codes, or is it even POSTing at all?
  10. Sorry guys, no progress this weekend. Well actually started removing the rivets holding the case together, got down to the last two, and then got called into work *sigh* No interesting photos to take (unless you want to see a case in pieces) Maybe next weekend...
  11. Try this link: http://www.razerzone.com/shipping-and-returns/en_US Knowing you still have the reciept garuntees you'll still be under warranty. No go make good use of that warranty.
  12. Looks like RHS mobo mount cases are the way to go. I'll take a look at my TT Tsunami case over the weekend and see what I can do. Might have some pics and a log in the days to follow.

    Mousepad

I haven't used a mousepad since the days of ball mice. I've tried various mousepads with optical/laser mice but I don't really notice any difference between my desk surface and a mousepad - a sheet of A4 printer paper taped down to my desk makes a good surface, however it needs replacing daily because it gets dirty easily (But a 500 sheet rheem lasts 500 days :P )
  14. Yes, but then wouldn't I have to Install my Mobo backwards and upside down (i.e On the right side of the case)? What's the problem? I think See-Threepio said it famously in The Empire Strikes Back: "I'm Backwards!" I do not want my PC looking like it's just been blasted apart by a Stormtrooper and then mashed back together by a Wookiee! :P Its not that uncommon, BTX (that's right isn't it) uses this design. Thermally its better too, for the gpu anyway. Heat rises so instead of the heat rising into the pcb it should disabate into the heatsink above. One case that I've always wanted is the Silverstone TJ06, just looks so awesome. Hrmm.... now you really got my attention! I never really thought about the heat rising until now.
