like most music of that era, i had never actually seen the videos at the time abc's lexicon of love was a favourite circa 1982, especially shoot that poison arrow, but having seen the clip for it decades later, i would have hated it if that was my only exposure

we moved to cable in ~ late 1990's, then eventually hardly watched it once rupert started including advertising, then switched to cable supplied abc and sbs via the same portal around a decade ago (shit reception where we are, at least with available technology at the time) for a few years it's been streaming and uncle terrence here for closing on a decade now, with the late addition of netflix (courtesy of ms. 20-something); i rarely watch anything available on tv (the spouse likes i-view, which i'll watch occasionally) i can follow current affairs via surfing smh / the guardian / the conversation / forum outrage without needing tele but i do like short documentaries on aeon and the arty stuff on vimeo, plus some youtube regulars on occasion (linus' channel on hardware is pretty slick, even with the self-aware advertising nods) do i miss television ? about as much as i miss my hernia, really... it was painful, and you feel better once it's gone it's the opium of the masses for a new millenium, since god lost audience share

more wrt her enthusiasm for "complementary medicine" which tends to provoke scepticism in more scientific circles, but sells to the worried well and patients without other options, who might feel better with some purportedly effective but hard to prove intervention bonking women is easier to grok

locally well known, and a celebrity to boot - she's the best chance an independent might have i think sadly the infinitely unrepresentative power of the preferential voting system will see a liberal win , just like it will in warringah, because disenchanted liberals may vote against the liberals in protest, but not enough will put them last on the card to not let them take one of the top two positions in the primary vote, after which preferences will win it for a conservative every time i am pleased to be proven wrong, but i doubt i will be kerryn was president of the ama (no comment), and gets points for currently coming out against the my health record high profile and a bit alternative; dunno how well that will wash with wentworth)

how crap is this government ?

i used to work with mcgirr (the wagga independent) in st vinnies' emergency when we were both senior registrars he's pretty blunt and cynical (with a rude sense of humour when we were in our late 20's), so it will be interesting to watch him in action problem in warringah is that any protest candidates wil still have preference given to the liberals, given the catchment, which makes a house brick with a blue tie the almost inevitable result

how crap is this government ?

i just saw that in the smh the member was only marginally more popular in the ballot than an empty chair it would be sweet justice to see him voted out by the party, but it will be more satisfying to see him lose in the next election (which sadly i doubt will happen if he retains endorsement, for all the reasons i have previously suggested)

    They have finally arrived. Maybe.

hmmm... alamagordo, the base site of the fruits of the manhattan project at los alamos trinity - the first atomic test site i don't think it's aliens at all.... i think they have discovered a new local phenomena which was spawned by the first atomic test... and of course it happened at alamagordo because it has taken all this time to appear hiroshima is next, mark my words
  14. the lady in red isn't tiny, but she wears it well ms. michelin tyres next to her seems excessive, but does rock a nice smile like i said earlier in a post, my taste runs to pixies, so i'm a bit biased as i prefer petite, which is not to say i like stick insects as models
