You can see your own user name ID ingame. Not sure how its confusing, just add your friends in contacts and click the + sign. When you have people added in your contacts list it will tell you the character they are playing , there User ID, there current level, where in tyria they are and what server. All the info is there. hope that helps.

Contacts icon is the second from the left at the top fo the UI and looks like 3 people grouped together or press Y. Type in their characters name or their user ID,should look like "Name.xxxx" If you see them ingame you can click on them and invite to party, once they accept the invite you can click their portrait for various options, including add to contacts or if you find your on a different overflow you can click "join in" to be on the same server. There is no VOIP ingame so if you have vent use that.

You got hacked? Wow, ive tried to play this on my laptop and every time i do i have to go into my email and click the link and confirm that machine. To hack your gw2 account, they would need full access to your email. So might be worth getting your machine properly checked. I have a fresh install of win 7 so dont think its the problem. It's sort of my fault that culminated in alot of things going on. Firstly my Email and GW2 account and PW where the same.. I was going to change it but had internet issues, fixed now and changed both passwords. I took my PC to my mates house and played GW2 for 3 days strait and didnt confirm the IP confirmation Email. Ive done this now since my internet is back up, so all good now. Any ways, still loving the game. I saw the shatterer dragon for the first time in game in the level 40-50 area last night, seeing it fly over head brew my mind and can't wait to see more of this game now. My warrior Harro Barathian is level 50 as of last night. Because I couln't play for 4 weeks after release my guild name was taken, mega spewing about this. Wanted The Nights Watch or The Knights Watch :(

Finally got back online...took ages to get fixed and all it was was a setting that needed to be changed on the modem ..To top it all off my GW2 account got hacked and couldnt play for 3 days till Arena net support got my account back. Lost my 1gold and some materials. Any way I've been playing a fair bit, got my warrior to level 47 so far and working on map completion as I go. I entered WvW for the first time since release and got into some battles but I was getting my ass kicked. Need to level up some more, get some tier 3 gear and lean how to play better to be effective for my server.

WTF...I thought you knew I can't play. My internet is still fucked and thats after having 2 Telstra techs already cheak the lines to my house saying that it's good. I've lodged a fault with iinet and its will be 2 weeks come next tuesday and still it is not fixed. Fucking pissed off to be honest. Ive requested a cabler to inspect the wiring in my house and still hav'nt heard anything from them. Ive called iinet about 10 times and spent over 6 hours on the phone trying to get things done. Im lucky to get over 10KB/sec and under 2 minutes the speed drops to under 0.01KB/sec before it fails. It's friggen painfull just to browse Atomic website, usually it fails before the page loads and I might have to refresh the page serveral times. *end rant* I managed to log into GW2 once, lasted about 30 mins with many lag drop outs. Was unplayable though. Some one sent me an invite ingame, can't recall who it was now, maybe some one from Atomic forums :) I'd becarefull about calling GW2 the best game ever, while I agree with you, you should preface that as your opinion because not every one will share our point of view. What makes Aussies such a speacial flower over any other nationality for maintaining a great community spirit? I've seen a couple of Aussie tards bashing GW2 on youtube, back when I actually had a good internet connection. I can understand critical negative opion of a game but most if not all of the points are ill-informed or out right lies. It makes me cringe watching and listening to the dribble and venom that comes out of thier hatfull mouths. But its the internet, to be expected I suppose. I really dont understand the hatered Guild Wars 2 can generate. I suspect their friends are all leaving there *insert favourite MMO* for GW2 lol Glad your enjoying the game though, hopfully I can join you ingame soon mate.

Hi, I moved house this week and finally got my internet connection back up, sorry for not replying to your questions sooner. My line is faulty with crackling voice on the phone and unreliable and unstable ADSL1. Its so bad speedtest.net web page wont even load. I tried patching GW2 client and maxed at 20KB/sec, guess average about 4KB/sec and often 0KB/sec and disconnecting. I'm not happy to say the least, will be monday/tuesday before any one even comes out to look at the faulty line. Which means no GW2 for me for some time. Surfing youtube is out of the question, so no more vids either :( When you create your character the choises you make effect your personal story quest/missions. So what effects your personal story? Race, Profession and Bio choices. Choices made during some of the quests effect your quest line as well. How does this effect you ingame? When you go to your home personal instance your choises might be reflected in the area. It is expected that when ANET include player housing your house will be located in your home personal instance aswell. Only your profession effects your skill selection, Race will only effect your racial elite skill selection which are touted as inferior to proffession elite skills but they can be still be fun. There is no traditional raiding in GW2. What you do have is 5man dungeons. First is story mode then you can repeat them in explorable mode (hard mode). In exploreable mode there are paths/choises you can make which alter the route and there is also random encounters so the experience might not always be the same. There is also Dynamic events in the world that require grouping. You will also have to coordinate your efforts in WvW which could be regarded as more sandbox Raid content. hope that helps. I encourage you to do your own research.

5 days to go Hey Matay0, rememeber the Laughing tree :D, fun times watching people fall of to thier deaths, such a crack up laughing, it was pretty hard though. It's actually called Morgans Spiral. Becasue you and Leeroy couldn't complete it I thought I would show you what I got to see after finally making it across myself. I died so many times trying to complete this section and finally gave up, fortunately as shown on this video thier isn't much here. I have a feeling this place will be added to after lauch so we should cheak it out again. Another interesting discovery and an example of the varied activities to be found in GW2 Music Puzzle un-spoiled

Cheers bro, glad you liked the posts with the suporting videos. I think GW2 will have a very smooth launch, they have very experienced network devs at Arena Net and the overflow servers will help alot. It's simmilar to districts in GW1. Also the 3 day head start should spread a large chunk of the players out before the official release date for the 28th. Thats when another large influx of players in the starter zones can be expected. Another good design decision is the 5 playable races all with there own staring areas, this will also help spread out the player populations. I think the biggest gripe from the players will be if there is a high demand and a queue with a long wait to get into WvW. The number of players are capped for each zone. There can not be overflow servers in WvW due to the 2 week persistant nature of the zones. There is 4 huge zones for WvW, 3 home battle zone thats 1 for each server and a central battle ground. Im not sure on the numbers**, but I think its about 150- 200 per server per zone, so thats about 500-600 players per map. A total of 2000-2400 players from 3 home server pools. ** Don't quote me on this, numbers are speculation and not final. 5 days to go In the BETAs I was rushing alot cause I just wanted to experience as much as possible in the limited time we had. Once we can all play for real I will be taking it all in at a slower pace, stopping to smell the roses so to speek. My favourite feature of the game is the World it self. I just love the freedom the game gives you to explore and discover things with very little hand holding. In PvE as you progress, by the time your level 80, the entire worlds content becomes available to the player due to down scaling, this greatly increases what you can do at endgame compared to previous MMOs. For PvP you can get strait into it from level 2. You can level entirely in WvW if you so desired. You will be scalled to level 80 but you will still need to progress your weapon skills, utilies skills, gear and get exp for your real level. Or you could join structured PvP and get max gear for a balanced 5v5 battle field experience. What is the best feature of Guild Wars 2? EDIT:click "watch on youtube" link, click "large player" and it manages to play. Otherwise it says "an error occurred". Plus is FUN A Tale of War

Thanks xnatex. Not long at all :) I managed to only play 1 hour in the last stress test where I noticed a few changes. There is now a Frame Rate Counter in the Options Menu. With the graphics slider set to Max Quality @ 1080p on i5-2500k, 8GB RAM & 1GB HD5850 I was getting a little over 80FPS. There is now a slider to move the camera so your character is not centre of screen. I noticed a new escort event I've not experienced in the Queensdale Zone, a lvl 1-15 human starting area. There Is still no 1st person camera which I really want in the game. I have no idea why ANET can not or will not include it in thier game, whyyyyyyyyyyyyy? :P I didn't really notice any other changes but while I was playing. It was running smooth and looked great. Much better ingame than watching youtube vids thats for sure. Anyway... I just wanted to thank the Developers of Guild Wars 2 for making a great "Quality" game. I look forward to enjoying and experiencing all the content these guys have built so pasionately. I came across this video today, its been out for awhile but I've never seen it before and made me go wow, these guys and girls are awesome. Quote John Corpening - Programmer "After meeting all the wonderfull fans of ours. I have to say that the Community that GW2 has built has been my favourite thing, it means so much to me. When I've been working on Guild Wars, I often think I want to make the greatest game possible, the most awesome game that I want to play and then I start thinking about the millions of people who are going to share this this game with me and my colleges at Arena Net. Honestly it was kinda terrifying but feeling all the love from everybody it really shows that the community of GWs is what I love the most about our game. Thank you, thank you everybody and I'll see you in the game." I've got GW2 withdrawls too. Can't wait for the head start and play this epic game for real. I finally found an Aussie player giving his thoughts on the game. He has only played in the BWE3 and 9 hours so he is still learning the game and I noticed that he could do with some tips. The thing about Guild Wars 2 is that your not told how to play the game, you just go out there explore and discover things. You learn to play at your own pace and it does take awhile to learn your skills, the UI and how to survive. Note that this video was taken in BWE3 where the dificulty was turned down and he is also in the starter area so NPC's go easyer on the player. You will need to use this time to learn how to play better for the harder content in the game. TIPS for a new character. 1. Buy bags and fill the empty bag slots in your inventory ASAP 2. Right click crafting materials and send them directly to your crafting bank from any where in the world to free up bag space. 3. Buy all the beginner weapons (including underwater weapons) your profession can use. Swap them out though your inventory to unlock their skills ASAP while stil in the beginner areas. 4. Buy a pick, axe and sickle ASAP so you can farm crafting materials as you play and discover the nodes. You'll get Experience for this, make some coin, have stuff to craft with and rocks/gems/pebles you can slot into your items for a small upgrade to your equipment. ( I believe you get given some in your personal story when the game goes live) Don't forget to equip them :D 5. Buy a salvage kit and salvage soul bound equipment you cant sell for extra crafting material with the possiblity to recover the item slot upgrades. Or your pressed for bag space and don't have merchant neerby, you can then send the material to your crafting bank. 6. Once you get the weapon swap skill ability, use it. Cake Viking only used his bow the whole time which reduced his efectiveness in combat. 7. Don't waste your skills on cooldown. Say for example you have a knock back skill, wait till you are targeted and the NPC uses his high damage skill to time it right and avoid the damage. You will notice these visual cues the more you play. 8. In combat keep moving, save your dodge to avoid big attacks and AOE's, indicated by red circles on the ground. 9. You can use AOE's as effective croud control/ damage avoidence and are most efective in chock points. The NPC's AI will in most cases try and avoid and run out of the AOE giving you space between you and them. If you want to be more effective with your AOE's, use a stun or Knock down skill first followed by the AOE to keep them in it for a longer duration. 10. Revive downed players and NPCs when you can do so safely. If they are still fighting to survive help kill the mob they have targeted, this should rally your allies. You get experience, they can help in the fight and hopfully they will help you if you fall in battle as well. 11. Take your time, have fun, explore, talk to NPCs, listen and watch whats happening around you, get clues from NPCs as to what is happening. No need to rush to Level 80 in this game. Be respectfull, curtious and helpfull to other players. Lets grow a great community in Guild Wars 2. EDIT: Bonus tip: go to option and set to Auto loot, you still have to press F to loot but it will automatically go to your inventory, or I also believe ANET has added the ability to double tap F to loot all since the BWEs. 11 days to go FIRST IMPRESSIONS (not exactly exclusive lol. I'd guess there are over 100 thousand players have prepurchased and played in 3 BETAS :D)

During BWE3 I logged out and clicked server transfer and there was a list of servers and a "guest" button, I assumed you could pick a server , click Guest and away you go. However, I think you are indeed right. I'm not exactly sure how it will work as the feature was not available during the BWE's but it might be a requirment to be invited by a friend. Will find out for sure after release. 12 days to go VISTAS- vistas are found though out the world of Tyria. They are indicated on your mini-map as triangles and appear ingame as a floating map. They often involve a simple jumping puzzle or some other secret to get to. When you find a vista you do a fly over of the area which is generated in real time ingame. Depending on a number of factors, including your graphics settings, your system and the games optimisation there is occasionally a noticable drops in FPS. Although rarely the vistas can also give you a hint to another secret area or jumping puzzle in the game. Vistas contribute to your map completion along with points of interest, waypoints, Renound Heart Task completion and Skill Challenges. Example of a vista that hints to this puzzle dungeon (hopfully not to spoilery as it doesn't show the location or even complete the puzzle) At the end of this dungeon is a Pirate Kama Vendor in which you can buy pirate weapons.

There are only 2 server regions, Europe and North America. Oceanic players play on the NA servers . Your question relates to how I started this thread. Which one do we want to play on ? The number of servers are not final but you can find the lastest update on the original post which where available on BWE3. The original unofficial server was Sea of Sorrows, which is fitting as we where all sorry that there are no Oceanic servers :D Due to the high population of oceanic players SOS was full rather quickly and the scramble was on to find at least another 2 more unofficial servers and now came the hard bit...how do we all argee on which to pick and how does having a high oceanic population on a few servers effect WvWvW game play. It might actually be better for the game for oceanic players to spread out. How ever so far I believe there will be a high population on Gates of Madness and Dark Haven. A few spead out over Jade Quarry and I forget (will edit) tarnished coast, maybe crystal desert? Need to do more research. Game isn't out yet. Take note that choosing your home server only effects who you can play with in World v Worlds, for example if you chose Fort Aspenwood you will represent Fort Aspenwood in WvWvW battles. You're free to guest (temporary switch servers) for PvE and structured PvP content, for example you could guest to Sea of Sorrows servers if your friends are playing there or you are looking for a higher population to do group events. My best advise would be to make sure you and your friends communicate with each other and pick the same server. Or find a guild you want to play with and pick the server they have chosen. Also note if you join SOS server there is a player capacity in WvW, if every one is playing WvW during your prime gaming time you might have to join a que to get in and when you do get in the oposing server might be asleep and who wants this? Im starting a casual PvX guild that consists of me and 2 friends so far called "The Nights Watch". At this stage ive chosen Jade Quarry to make an alliance with the Jade Legion (my daughter is named Jade by the way , super awsome :D). Happy to have new members and looking to have Ventrilo but I need to learn how to set up a server. The nights watch comes from the book a game of thrones and tv series. I felt it apropriate as during Aussie prime time we will be holding the forts during American down time :D Remember the battles are 24/7 and go for 2 weeks so its good to have a server balance at different time zones. You can join multiple guilds, in your guild tab/page you must select which guild you want to represent. So for example you could have a private guild for you and your closest gaming buddies and be in another guild that is focused on PvP or more guilds. When you represent a guild you gain guild Influence for that guild and the guild leader can buy guild wide bonuses. Ill try and find a vid that explains all this. For example if your guild captures a fort you can erect your guild banner, your guild leader could spend points on a health bonus when defending your fort :D cool stuff. GUILDS INFO This is the most extensive video regarding guilds I can find, goes for 27mins but it shows you where the NPCs are then goes into detail about the guild features. Feel Free to fast forward to the 9:30 minute mark in the video where he starts explaining the features.

I read fn's post this morning and for most of the day I thought about this concern regarding the skepticism some people have for this game and came to the simple conclusion. Its good to be skeptical. When I buy a game I look at ingame footage, research players feed back then evaluate it on my own terms. They are on weather I feel I will enjoy it, have fun and get value out of it. I realise that every one has different tastes in games and game play so I look at as many points of views as possible. I know what I like in games, what I don't like and make my own desision. Im not always right but it's good to have a filter. We know what it's like though when you hear about a game being developed. We all get excited but when the game is actually close to release or released its not what you imagined or simply a craptastic money grab with lazy features. For me GW2 was better than I imagined, for others maybe it is not the game for them. Thats why I'm posting here so you or others can make the informed choise and not buy into the Hype and CGI trailers, but actually see for yourselves. I was so impressed with GW2 I just had to highlight what makes it so good and it is different than the standard MMO. In my opinion in a good way, for others maybe not. At worst I feel I will get 4-6 mths out of this game, not bad for $60. How ever I feel I will be playing for years and get the expansions as well. We'll see. Whats really cool is that some people may not know about GW2 so I'm glad to showcase the game for them. Take a look, read the feed back on people that actually played, ask your friends and make your own informed decision. My honest opinion in 5 points. 1)It is a FUN game. Its is fun to play. 2) WvWvW 3 fricken servers in seige warfare in consentual PvP in 4 huge persistant zones and balanced every 2 weeks. Thats freeking cool to me man 3) the World, its beautiful, literally every angle or view looks like a piece of art, full of content, explorer friendly, the sound is the best Ive heard in any game. Its feature rich and has everything you expect in an MMO. Huge and wonderous cities with active and voiced NPCs. 4) It feels like an adventure with memorable moments. It has interesting things to discover and interesting stories to tell. I love that. 5) multiplayer friendly, Its good to have others join you in events. You can play with your friends due to down scaling and no shopping list quest book. You can join any event you like with out that feeling of "I don't have the quest, screw that" and run past but you can if you want. There is just so much right about this game it out waighs all the negatives. It's not perfect. I can list some things I would like changed 1)I want 1st person view 2)I want lower partical effects in larger group combat. 3) I want big bosses to be more active and mobile, I want the beginning tutorial boss fight to have more meaning and last longer. 4) I would like to see a proper tutorial to explain the mechanics of GW2 that is skipable for experienced players. 5) You can't complete renound heart tasks as a group effort in your party. Why you might not like the game 1) its a theme park, you want sandbox 2) you like games where you can keep getting better statistical gear. 3) you like anything goes PvP and the freedom that goes with that including being ganked and ganking others whether its consentual or not. 4) its not fun for you. 5) The theme is not dark enough, not enough gore, sick of fantasy 15 days to go no bull sh*t interesting facts of GW2 EDIT: World V Worlds explained
