    Need a PSU

I think it'll still be recognizable as a 360 - I think that how the lettering is engraved in will cause issues when I come to paint the panels depending what I end up deciding to paint on it of course.

Interesting idea to paint the components. Won't be doing that on this build, but I will be painting the case. Current progress: getting rid of the "XBOX 360" lettering on the top and bottom panels. Have filled them in with putty and waiting a few days to let it harden before sanding. Have ordered some 'sugru' moldable plastic to make the motherboard screw points rather than drill new holes - hopefully that idea works :S

SNES/MegaDrive/N64 emulation is already on my list ;) Have a wireless 360 controller set aside for this project. Here is an image I prepared earlier which shows the size of the case fairly well:

I wasn't originally planning to - mainly due to not having enough space for the DVD drive and the PSU inside the case. With the Pico though there should be plenty of room. That's pretty much what it'll be used for - occasional lite gaming, more for media playback.

Thanks Scythe - I had been looking at the Pico's, was just worried that 160W wouldn't be enough power. Cheers mate TheFrunj: I'm only going to be running the cpu/mobo, 1 laptop HDD, and a couple of 60mm fans - not much room in the x360 case for anything else! :)
  6. I'm currently working on my most ambitious project to date - which is fitting a small PC into a Xbox 360 case. I've got motherboard/CPU sorted, mini-ITX board and a A10 6800K APU. But I'm struggling to find a decent power supply to fit. After installation of the motherboard I have an area roughly 200mm x 95mm x 60mm (LxWxH) to use. Does anyone know of any power supplies that will run this system and will fit into that space?

    Star Ruler

Does anyone have any tips about expanding? I'm finding it difficult to get the balance between expanding slowly enough not to collapse my economy, and fast enough to keep up with the ai.

    F1 Barcelona

Damn wonder what caused that? Rumour is that it was a "KERS pack" (battery i guess?) that started it - but no official word yet. Also damm what a good race. Great win for Maldonado holding off Alonso at the end. Thought Hamilton drove a great 2 stopper too.

I'd love for Maldonado or one of the Lotus drivers to win.

For one of the top teams McLaren manage to make a hell of a lot of screwups.

    Windows 8 - Developer Preview

bla bla bla think outside the box fairly dust don't actually provide anything concrete bla bla bla You've told me twice to think 'outside the box', but havn't actually provided yourself any suggestions as to how things could be done differently. How would you propose that a PC with a touch screen gets setup? Say for a home environment and for a general office environment. I recognise that I do tend to see they cons of things before I see the pros, so I'm all prepared to be shown that it can work. Considering there are concerns with supply of the materials used in making touchscreens I wouldn't say that that the price can only go down. IIRC there are some interesting developments with plastics to replace the rare earths currently used but I've not heard if they are feasible yet or in the near future in a mass produceable method.

    Windows 8 - Developer Preview

Ask that question again in 2-3 years, when Windows 8 will be released. IIRC the hints at the realease date point to late next year - hardly 2-3 years... Because if you had a touch screen, you wouldn't keep the screen at arm's length like you do now with non-touch screens. Think outside the box a bit, broheim. So I'm going to keep a 22" or bigger screen (based on what most of my clients use) within approx 40-50cm of my face all day? What about those that use multiple screens? Eye-strain ahoy... Not to mention that monitor manufacturers havn't yet made a screen that automagically removes the greasy finger marks that will get all over it. Its also easier to flick the mouse from side to side of the screen than to have to move your whole arm to do the same. I really don't see the point of trying to shoehorn an interface into a format that doesn't really suit it :/ I see it going either way. If costs come down enough then touch might become a standard monitor feature, if costs don't come down why pay for a feature that doesn't suit the format? I suppose only time will tell how much the average person will use touch when it comes to desktops/laptops.

    Windows 8 - Developer Preview

How many desktops have touchscreens? How many laptops have touchscreens? Even if every single one did why would I want to be using a touchscreen where I have to have my arms out horizontal in front of me all day? Hopefully they can fix it before release, but as it stands its a cludge.

    Windows 8 - Developer Preview

Been playing with this today... Ugh *shudder* I'll echo the call that the new GUI would be fine for a tablet but sucks for a desktop/laptop... I saw my folks tonight and showed it to them to get a non-techies view of it. In my Dad's words "It looks like a kids play-and-learn toy computer".
