I'm constrained by the length of the shock and the fact there is a flat floor just above it. Any lower and I run the risk of bottoming the shock and any higher it hits the floor

  5. An exhibition of my exploits or lessons learned from my stupidity. The things you see when you are out and about. We came across this group of Grey Nomad farmers who decided to tour Australia in tractors.

Repairs are currently underway. I have decided to rebuild the chassis from scratch. I had steel for all bar the drawbar already in the workshop. The original four year, been everywhere chassis Some of the damage. This was collateral damage caused while we were trying to extract it. This is damage to the tool box on the front of the trailer and was just general wear and tear New main frame. Doubled the wall thickness so hopefully it will be more resilient.

Locals keep looking for nuggets around my town but the area is alluvial gold, not nuggets but some clown said he found a small nugget and idiots descended from everywhere. He actually found the nugget in outback WA, about 4000 Km away.

I can pretty much bet both my testicles that wasn't found near Ballarat. These guys will not report findings locations because the area gets inundated with every man with a detector. I also know that the dealers have nuggets in their safes that are suddenly "discovered" when business is quiet.

    Then to now

So long. It has been so long since my departure from what, at the time, was a significant part of my online life. From the forums to [AC-DC] and the gaming community. Atomic was a tight nit community were I felt I belonged and was appreciated. Was huge shock and personal disappointment when it ended for me but returning to find the shattered remnants of a once iconic forum is almost as bad. Since I have been gone I have drifted away from home computing but have stuck to my core interest of electronics and photography. I have grown a business, extended my family and developed a new interest in single board computing. No longer do I sit in front of a monitor I now love to get out and explore outback Australia as basic as I can. Me , my wife and the remotest place we can get to. The less people the better. Will I stay around is a question that will take time to figure out, I have become older and cranky and that isn't a good thing. IvanTheTerrible

This trailer has done five years of some of the roughest tracks in Aus. We finally found its limits. Didn't help that the shocks were the wrong length either. Goes to show it best to check things yourself rather than believe what the supplier tells you

Well we got as far as Emu and all went to shit. Started out we ripped a shock off it's mount. We decided o play it safe and return to Coober Pedy but things escalated quickly. Fifty Ks down and the left front trailer spring mount ripped off the chassis. Then twenty Ks further on the right hand front spring mount followed suit. At this staged we limped to our camp and did what we could to keep it all going. Still had 47k's to Mabel Creek and a 100 to Coober Pedy. Woke up the next morning to find this Turned out to be a slow leak so we pumped it up and continued on our way. Pulled in to Mabel Creek Station only to find it all but abandoned so we headed on to Coober Pedy. Found a couple of miners on the edge of the opal fields that were willing to let us leave the trailer so we returned back to Victoria already planning the rescue mission next weekend.
