    So, this Gillard lady...

As far as I'm concerned, the only pertinent question for US to ask is; What's Gillard's stance on the Mandatory Net Filtering?

    So, this Gillard lady...

I guess I meant from a IT perspective. I was hoping she'd be less conservative than the last guy. I really should follow politics more closely.

Nah nah. Well within her rights to be. It was just mentioned earlier and I wanted to clarify. I wish there was a way to apologise without just making the whole damn thing worse.

In answer to some above questions: 1) Mate laughed when I told him I was worried, told me to man up. I said he could walk from now on. 2) It was like 2 in the afternoon. Daylight, plenty of other cars all over the place. Windows down, radio blaring, we weren't exactly trying to be stealthy or inconspicuous. 3) There was no fear in her eyes as she ran towards us. Only malice.

They won't kick me out as such. It's more so the most trouble I will have ever been in, ever. I know how to proceed I suppose, I was really just questioning whether or not the cops would even bother coming. Pretty much just wanted to know whether to worry or to relax. Worry it is, based on all the previous posts I guess. fuck.

Apologise to who? Am I wrong in assuming that apologising to the girl would be favourable?

I reckon I'd be better off telling the truth, saying I was an idiot, and asking if I could please apologise. Stress to them the overreaction that all this is. Personally, I reckon that'd go down better than shutting my mouth and saying nothing.

I bloody well have, I swear. I'm happy for them to put a note against my name if need be. I'll not be doing anything of this nature ever again. I just pray to god that they don't see fit to have a chat to me. I'm not worried about the cops. My parents will quite literally kick me out of the fucking house. Nothing to do now but wait I guess.

It's what I'd have done in his situation. But they didn't follow me home or anything, so I'm not too worried about him coming around. I don't know whether or not you're being serious.

I will absolutely hold you to that. At first I just thought I'd pulled over in front of some guys house and he was telling me to get the fuck out of his parking spot. But I saw the car drive past me a few minutes earlier, and I think there was a blond chick driving it. It's just too coincidental to not have been her. I'm not.

Agreed. The first incident could be considered stalking. And then my reappearance in the area, with her nearby (although I had absolutely no fucking idea she lived there let alone was in the vicinity at the time), just makes it even more suspicious to the cops.

My parents fucking destroying me. I know I did the wrong thing and I probably deserve a yell for being stupid, so I'll just take the consequences as they come.

Yeah. I'm not lying to the cops. Realistically, I'm not afraid of anything major. It's just the talking to I'm afraid of. IF they call the cops and IF the cops think there's enough evidence to warrant giving me a talking to, then I'll take it on the chin and live with it.

I expected that response as soon as I saw 1shot was reading the thread. While appreciated, taken with a grain of salt.

Pretty much what I've been thinking. It's avoidable on my trip home, so I'll avoid it.

I agree with you, it was very childish. And to be honest, if it was just her that pulled up in the car to yell at me, I'd have wound down the window, taken her yell, and apologised. I just didn't want the BF to smash me. Also, to reiterate for clarity, I was in that area today for completely unrelated reasons. I didn't return to hoon her again or anything. I'm not debating whether or not I've done the wrong thing. I'm just asking whether or not the cops would care enough about 1 incident. You guys seem to think so.

    Pre-Built or Barebones Laptop?

Thanks so much for the advice guys. Ordering now :)
  19. Hey, I'm just about to order a shiny new Dell laptop, which is very well specced and more than adequate considering what I need. I am happy to pay the obvious premium in price to have the machine built for me and ready to go. I am, however, conscious of the fact that I could buy a barebones laptop, buy parts, and build it myself. I have experience building desktop machines, so I'm confident that I would be able to build the machine and get it running. My question is, would it be worth to buy a barebones laptop over the prebuilt Dell? I would never buy a prebuilt desktop, as the price and quality differences are astounding when compared to a custom built machine. Does this same quality difference apply to laptops? Price really isn't a consideration, so really it comes down to whether or not we trust prebuilt machines over something we've put together personally. What do you guys think? Thanks, d3c4y

    Pre-Built or Barebones Laptop?

I'm getting a Studio 15. It's costing me $1800. i7 720 (I didn't think $500 was worth it for the upgrade to i7 820) 4GB Ram (My God Dell charges a shitload for RAM upgrades) 500GB HDD I'm getting it for Uni. I'll be starting a Bach. Information Technology course next year, and I figured it'd be good to have a laptop. My only worry is that the RAM in the unit is DDR3 SDRAM, which I'm worried could be difficult to find in the future, if I wanted to upgrade. But other than that, I'm pretty happy. What do you think?
  21. Hey, I'm buying a new Dell laptop for uni, and I'm just having a bit of trouble deciding what operating system to order for it. If I were to buy a HP or a Toshiba, I'd immediately format the drive and put a fresh windows install on it, just to get rid of all the proprietary crap and bloatware (eg Norton, 'HP Utilities Center', 'Toshiba Experience Enhancement Resource Diminisher') they put on those machines. I just want a nice clean, light OS, without all the manufacturer preload stuff that bogs your machine down from the get go. Is this the same with Dell? Will it come with a bunch of crap, or is it going to be a fairly clean OS? I only ask because I want Win7 Professional, but I'm not going to pay Dell an additional $80 for it if I'm just going to have to wipe it and buy a fresh copy anyway. Am I better off just sticking with the 'Included in Price' Win7 Home and buying my own copy of Pro, or should I get Pro preinstalled for me? Hope that was understandable, I tend to ramble a bit. Thanks, d3c4y

    Bloatware on new Dells?

Please forgive me for knowing absolutely nothing about all this, but 2 questions: 1) When i recieve the laptop from Dell, will I receive the license key of my copy of Win7 Pro, which I can use to reinstall? 2) When I format the drive and reinstall Win7, will this key just work, or is there some sort of 'de-registration' process I need to go trough to 'de-register' the key before using it again.

    Bloatware on new Dells?

You're probably right. I'm just loathed to spend $2000 on a laptop WITH a copy of Win7 and then have to run out and buy another legit copy of Win7 Pro just to fresh install. Is there any way around this? (short of piracy)
  24. Hey guys, I am at work all day, and if I'm not there, I'm mostly at home. I have constant wifi access in both of those places, yet poor phone reception. I was wondering if there was a service (most likely third party) that I could sign up for that would allow me to send text messages from my iPhone over the internet. I am happy to pay for this service. The way I see it, it will likely be cheaper than my standard 20 something cent text messages, and sending over wifi will eradicate my reception issues. Any help would be appreciated :)
