  1. I just recently purchased an '03 Lancer LS Sedan 5 Door 4Cyl 2.0L Manual (these things will come in handy in the thread, maybe) I'm keen on sticking a few cosmetic things on (new rims, spoiler). Something I'm worried about is this: I can't be too sure of the overall cost for basic maintenance of the car. I don't want to end up realizing that I'm going to be short a couple bucks on rego because I went and bought those flash wheels. So my question to you guys is this: Rego Cost for a car like mine (will be paying by the year): Insurance, based on previous experience (17 year old P Plater, no previous mods on car, pretty inconspicuous vehicle): Servicing costs: Minor and Major With servicing, I can do most minor services, and Major has been quoted at anywhere between $150-$280. Assuming a set of rims can set me back $1000, and a spoiler however much, can I ask a favour from you guys to help me calculate the costs of running this car so I don't run short? :) On another note: Where the hell can I find a spoiler kit for my car? Searching the net has turned up pretty much zilch, and another forum wasn't too helpful. I hope this makes sense, and thanks for help in advance. Any more details needed: Post on the thread.

There's something in my throat that I can't get out. It's like a slight discomfort mixed with vomit.

    First Car - Insurance/Rego/Servicing Costs

I'll talk to them about it. A little off topic here but just something i wanted to say. Please, when you do the mods to your car, can you PLEASE leave off the monster fucking cannon? To this day i dont understand why people in my age bracket would do this. A two inch stainless exhaust sits in a similar price bracket, sounds nicer(if not louder), and believe it or not, but actually has a better performance benefit than a cannon. Please, to you, and indeed anybody considering putting a cannon on their non turbo 4cyl, dont do it. They sound gay, and true enthusiasts, like myself and my mates, laugh and overtake in our Non Cannon supercharged v6s at quarter throttle. Haha, I think the exact same thing when I see them. I'll be sure to keep it modest.

    First Car - Insurance/Rego/Servicing Costs

I can afford 3pp. I don't see much point in comprehensive as I'd end up spending more than I paid for the actual car, in a very short space of time.

    First Car - Insurance/Rego/Servicing Costs

Exactly. You don't want to spend big money on rims just to gutter them a month later. Experience from my P plater days tells me you want to keep this car as basic as possible, because you are going to make mistakes and you are going to hurt it. Anywhere that sells decent looking hubcaps? Super Cheap has a terrible range, and most seem like cheap imitations of stocko's.

    First Car - Insurance/Rego/Servicing Costs

    a) How much is an '03 Lancer LS Sedan 5 Door 4Cyl 2.0L Manual worth? b) Can you afford to replace it? Rob. I got mine for $9k. But it was in fantastic condition, driven by a mum. No, I can't afford another $9k car. :( Better than Ford? :O /runs Can I ask why? This.

    First Car - Insurance/Rego/Servicing Costs

might be an idea to get it in your mums name. I can do minor, and this thread is about calculating whether ill be able to drive with these cosmetics. Probably ditching the spoiler idea. With that quote, please tell me that's comprehensive. Lol. I'll only be looking at third party.

Yeah, thanks. That helps.:) Would these new hubcaps be just to test if I get any scrapes in 3 months? $4 cans of spray paint from.crazy clarks!

    First Car - Insurance/Rego/Servicing Costs

Ehhhhhh. Yeah, I looked there, and I have to call up. Is it easy to install one yourself? Whoops, my bad. I misread. By roadworthy do you just mean servicing costs (ignoring rego and insurance)? If so, I would certainly hope it'd be less than $1000pa. Rob. Everything. By roadworthy, I mean thirdparty insurance, rego, and servicing, given the numbers on average-ish.

Did his Falcon have any mods? I'm under the impression that as soon as insurance companies hear of a 17yo with mods on his (yes, his) car... they get nervous very quickly. Rob. That was rego, not insurance. And no, it's a piece of shit. :) I believe I'm looking at a rough estimate of nearly $1000 a year to keep it roadworthy, or am I completely off?

    First Car - Insurance/Rego/Servicing Costs

I appreciate your effort Robzy, but I was keen on actual numbers. :P However: Third Party Insurance was 187.50, so we can cross that off the list. My mate recently registered his '93 Ford Falcon for 6 months for $300, so I'm assuming it's closer to $500-$600 for a year.

    Does this English make sense?

In this context, you're going to have to trust me, it actually comes off as less pretentious :P Perhaps it's that the actual wording uses "I would be willing" instead of "I would like." Rob. Using "I would be willing" sounds a lot less awkward than "I would like". Sounds alright to me. ;)

    Wet enough for you?

I was working on a job site and left Caboolture at 1:30. We pretty much had to beg the police to let us onto the highway back towards the city. D; Cars backed up the Bruce highway for at least several kilometers, with people out of their cars. It's crazy.

    Haircuts

I'm very particular about my haircuts, but at the end of it, even though they fuck it up, I still say "GOOD THANKS." I then proceed home and shave it all down to a number 4. I like my hair long-ish, and swept over to the side, but not to the point that it starts going curly. I'd also like to try straighteners on my hair one day without my dad assuming I'm gay. >.>

Enjoying something that you're crap at.

I'm absolutely terrible at drawing. The images in my mind are detailed enough to be put into Crysis 3, but somewhere between my brain and my fingers, it comes out looking like the child of an ADD kid with Tourettes. But I do it regularly, and laugh at how terrible it is.
