    Updating current PC?

https://gyazo.com/14be21428bdf886de21c6ceee4218bbf < Current memory information. https://gyazo.com/47206ca2517ead8742367919e3237b77 I found it strange that my Ram was running at 800Mhz, My friend mentioned it to me after reading the benchmark and i was like oh yeah! Went to the bios and behold it was set at 400. Iv never touched Ram settings in the Bios so i cannot answer as to why it was set at such speeds. Currently have my Ram positions set at <CPU>Ram>Empty>Ram>Empty.

    Updating current PC?

Hey guys! http://www.userbenchmark.com/UserRun/4156681 This was my first check of my system and was shocked to see my ram was running at half speeds, After going to the bios and changing certain settings i ended up with this next link. http://www.userbenchmark.com/UserRun/4156758#MEMORY_KIT Since owning this computer i was running the CPU on clock speeds and Ram at half speed. I have learnt so much about certain components in the past few days that it has shocked me, Puts a smile on my face! With this information, Am i able to improve on certain components that i wouldn't know about? The Rams clock speed is running at 800Mhz But i think due to being twin channel it is actually 1600Mhz? Overall i am very happy with these improvements.

    Updating current PC?

Couldn't help myself, Ended up racing to MSY after work today. Made it with 8 minutes to spare! After discussions and checking reviews, investigating pro's and con's, I decided to be stubborn and stick with the housing fans over the blower type. Main reason why i have done this is peace of mind to myself, If i wasn't going to enjoy the purchase than to me it would not have been worth it. Other reasons include lower GPU temperature especially with the case i am currently preparing and more quiet.. Which some of you are going to argue! :D I will be putting the parts in tonight, Download drivers and get everything in working order, Stay tuned.

    Updating current PC?

https://youtu.be/jiM2kwBL__U Iv had a blower cooler before.. I think it was a hd5770 (going back a bit!) And it was very noise and ran really hot under load and it has always left a bad taste in my mouth since purchasing the blower type. I feel as if the open fan type would better suit my needs (read: runs cooler and lower noise levels) as I will have very sufficient airflow in my case which in turn will exhaust all the hot air blown sideways of the gpu onto other components to the rear of the case. Scythe, is it just your preference for the blower type coolers? I'm very open to being corrected if I am wrong or I have the wrong mind set, after all you and the others here are the experts not me! :P

The 8gig gpu's I have looked at whilst enticing.. I feel the price difference seems too bloated at his stage for performance gain per dollar. What are your thoughts?

    Updating current PC?

Last night I spent some time learning how to overclock my cpu and with great success I managed so far 4.3ghz at 1.3 volts with max temperatures hitting 41 degrees. I used furmark and ran cpu burn for an hour with stability being ok. I actually gained about 15 fps on average in player unknown battlegrounds which is a huge shock to me! I watched the over clocking video and turned most of what he explained to turn off but my mother board bios setup is much different to the video. Might take some screen shots and show you guys but I don't think this is the right thread for it. Once iv bought my gpu and ssd this weekend I'll open another thread with my over clocking situation. I live in Victoria and I have 2 msy stores in my vacinity. One being the msy store in dandenong. As far as ssd's go I'll just a cheap SanDisk 240 they sell, but can someone please link me a suitable gpu they are selling currently within my budget. I don't want to pick one and find out I could of bought a better card for 20 dollars more. On my phone currently, I hope this post makes sense!

    Updating current PC?

With what Scythe mentioned, And my current position in life right now ( Baby on the way next week!), I have decided to stretch this computers life until i can start my project PC later down the track. As for windows 10 i have that installed currently, I failed to mention this. Also, As far as Ram goes, When at idle i use approx 1.3 Gigs of ram. When gaming i get up to the 7 Gigs range so it seems fine at the moment. Spoke with the wife and it would seem we can agree on $700.00 for now in parts. As far as GPU's go, Iv been looking since iv posted this topic and and it would seem the prices are bloated right now, Iv been looking at 6 and 8 gig variants and i would like to settle for the 8 gig GPU just to get more life from it long term. It has only struck me that PcCaseGear has very high prices and when i look at other companies selling components online iv seen the same GPU cards at much lower prices, Yikes! So with windows 10 installed, That leaves me with a selection of options. I invest in a 6 gig GPU and purchase a 124 gig SSD (Might even try for a 240, I feel this would be better so i can install the OS on it aswell as a handful of games.) and purchase a better quality CPU cooler so i can do slight over clocking with. With the current cooler on it, it is definitely loud. I am yet to overclock the CPU as i have been happy with the game performance. In saying that i watched the you tube video and it seems very easy to do with minimal risk if i follow the procedure correctly so i will go ahead with this provided i have your advice and preferred / current cooler. Or i could go ham and buy an 8 gig card and save what money i am given per week and buy an SSD and CPU Cooler in the very near future. Also with all the many varient GPU's for GTX 1070, Could i have al ink on what you guys specificly would chose in the range? Im not sure what cons there are for certain GPU's.
  8. Hello, My computer i use to game on is in my opinion ready for another update. Current specs: Raijintek Themis Black CPU Cooler Microsoft Windows 8.1 64bit OEM ASRock 970 Extreme3 R2 Motherboard AMD FX-6300 6 Core Black Edition Processor Western Digital WD Black 1TB WD1003FZEX Corsair Vengeance CML8GX3M2A1600C9 8GB (2x4GB) DDR3 EVGA SuperNOVA G1 Gold 650W Power Supply CoolerMaster N300 Mid Tower XFX Radeon R9 270X Double Dissipation 2GB TP-Link Archer T9E AC1900 Wireless Dual Band PCI Express Adapter My questions: * With the new CPU from AMD coming out just recently would it be wise to update my CPU soon or will mine be fine for now? (I keep hearing people mention its architecture is from 2012 and is very outdated.) I could even wait a few months? I am unsure. * Would i be better off just replacing the Graphics card with something more powerful? Would this be the best bang for buck upgrade or do you have something different in mind? etc. https://www.pccasegear.com/products/35760/gigabyte-geforce-gtx-1070-g1-gaming-8gb * Is 8 gigabytes of Ram getting on the low side? I see its usage at 70 percent, i feel as if i need to throw another 4 gig stick in there but would this be a poor investment. I have no worries about aesthetics, Just after performance. I feel it would be worth mentioning, I have been playing player unknown battlegrounds on an average 30 FPS And when i play elder scrolls online, some dungeons with lots of graphics bring it down below 20 FPS, but i average about 45 FPS when normal fights arise. Both games at 1080P with most things on low / medium. I have a budget of $1000.00 to invest in this in i would like to know what you would do in my shoes.

    Gaming build Green ($2000.00)

http://i255.photobucket.com/albums/hh126/unsinkable86/pc%20build%202015.png Case: Corsair Obsidian 450d If you were to buy a case for this build what would you buy that could accommodate the 280mm radiator? With the motherboard may i ask for a selection of ASUS motherboards? I wont be going with Asrock. I am happy with the ram and thankful for your inputs. Almost complete.. Once these 2 selections are corrected i will be buying the parts, Any last thoughts on this? Ill be doing rounds on the online computer stores for best prices.

    Gaming build Green ($2000.00)

So i will discuss a few options and post an update build list. GPU: With the GPU i decided on the GTX970 - Gigabyte GeForce GTX 970 Windforce OC 4GB Im unsure what is the better card from the GTX 970 Series but i have dealt with Gigabyte cards in the past and i haven't had any troubles. Few other options are: http://www.pccasegear.com/index.php?main_page=index&cPath=193_1692&vk_sort=4 Now my only understanding with this for me is the more i pay the higher the base MHz and Boost MHz are. Is there any other main factors i should be looking for when scouting for a GPU other than the Memory? Thank you Dasa and Scythe for great inputs! MB: My most disliked item to buy; The motherboard. I have almost zero concept of understanding what i should be looking for in the motherboard. I understand what CPU's are compatible with the mother board but not much else. Another thing i look for is what MHz the memory allows on each MB. ASRock Fatal1ty B85 Killer Motherboard -1600MHz ASUS Z97-PRO GAMER Motherboard - 3200 MHz ASRock Fatal1ty H97 Performance Motherboard - 1600MHz Should i stick with the current motherboard i originally picked or go with your idea Master_Scythe and go a cheaper board and lower the Mhz capability of the memory? ( This has me concerned and i am most likely incorrect) I am unsure what performance increase/decrease i am looking at between 1600MHz and up to 2400MHz etc. Memory: Provided i stick with the motherboard i have chosen, Will this be the better alternative - G.Skill Ripjaws Z F3-2400C10Q-16GZH 16GB (4x4GB) DDR3 ? 2400Mhz ~ C10 I am unsure if 2 x 8Gb or 4 x 4Gb sticks is better, Can i get a confirm on either set up? I Understand 16Gb is overkill but this kit Comes with 4 x 4Gb sticks. How did i go Dasa? Misc: I am happy with the selected SSD. I am happy iwth the selected PSU. (Its modular and is already overkill for my needs. I am more than happy to hear any last inputs on this tho) I do agree about the case and its ridiculous price tag. I will check some cases out. Its just such a nice looking case and i find it hard to find any cheaper case that is just as clean as it. I will bite the bullet and get windows 8.1, You were spot on Scythe about the main window being much to my distaste Hehe. Dasa, My old computer has an amd 2 core processor with 4gb's of ram and a 1gb graphics card and a 500gb Hardrive standard, I did a build after it for Satan (My now ex partner) which was much better specs compared to my build which you may be referring to? This new Machine should blow my mind to say the least coming from what i have currently.
  11. Many years ago i joined this forum to make a gaming computer to play Call of duty: World at war. The build i was given has been very forgiving to me over the many years of gaming i put it through.. But its time for an upgrade as i want to experience better visual and more FPS on "Rust". I will also be playing battlefield 4, The new GTA5 just released just to give you an idea of my requirements for this build. I have been lurking around for 2 weeks reading, And this is the best i could come up with given what i have read from the Parts guide, Recommended PSU's and other random posts on the Atomic forums. Build: CPU: Intel Core i5 4690K MB: ASUS Z97-PRO GAMER Motherboard PSU: EVGA SuperNOVA G1 Gold 650W Power Supply SSD: Samsung 850 EVO Series 500GB SSD CPU Cooler: Corsair Hydro Series H110 280mm CPU Cooler Networking: TP-Link Archer T8E AC1750 Wireless Dual Band PCI Express Adapter Case: Corsair Obsidian 750D Case with Window GPU: ??? Memory: G.Skill Ripjaws Z F3-2133C11D-16GZL (2x8GB) 16GB DDR3 Software: Microsoft Windows 7 Home Premium 64bit with SP1 OEM Cooling: Corsair Air Series SP120 Green LED Fan Twin Pack x 2 (Case: Bottom) Corsair Air Series SP140 High Static Pressure Green LED Fan x 1 (Case: Rear) Corsair Air Series SP140 Green LED Fan Twin Pack X 2 (Radiator x 2 and case: Front x 2) Wiring: PCCG Sleeved Cable Extension Kit Green (Just for looks) The total so far is $1987.00. Questions: 1: I am yet to decide on a graphics card? May i ask someone here to recommend me one that wont bottle neck this build. I understand i have just about exceeded my budget limit, But id rather buy the current list and spend a little more on the GPU to further enhance the build rather than skimping out on a few hundred dollars for lower performance. 2: Speaking of bottle necking the system. Which part of this build is slowing the system down? I ask out of curiosity, Iv heard a Computer is only as fast as its slowest piece of hardware. 3: PSU, I wont be using SLI or Crossfirex in the future so is a smaller PSU recommended or will this be acceptable? 4: Have i chosen wisely with the memory? 5: What is the difference between Samsung 850 EVO Series 500GB SSD and Samsung 850 Pro Series 512GB SSD. 6: Compatibility, What would you change? Look forward to everyone's input and i am grateful to anyone that takes time to reply. Thank you.
  12. I was getting the I7 so it is relevant 5 year from now, i can only assume I7 will better long run the the I5. Am i wrong? The mother board i picked, Why not? I was planning to crossfire in the future and your board you offered does not have a second GPU slot. ( I failed to mention this) I only need a 500gb Harddrive, I still haven't maxed out my current 500gb hardrive. Same with SSD, I will only install the OS and steam games on it so i will only need 125gb SSD. (Saves money) Dasa, Can you give me a basic reason in what i failed in doing with this build? I guess from what you just said regarding over-clocking, Ill have to look into it and learn. 30% is alot! Heres a picture. Appreciate it mate.
  13. This is my current build i done here many years ago. My budget was $1500. Iv gone over it. total: $1707. (PcCaseGear) Id like someone to pick me a graphics card to suit this build, I chose the motherboard on advised information only. I have no idea if there is a better one or i can downgrade. Id rather save money so if i can change it do tell me and why. I chose the I7 due to me not upgrading between 4-5 years. Hopefully in 4 years it will still play good games, If you feel this is a waste of money please notify me. I expect constructive criticism, If you want to change something please add a why description so i can better understand, Ta. Note: I dont know how to overclock, I think it lowers the life expectancy of the components and would rather not do it, if it makes it cheaper on parts notify me.
