    Climate change issue resolved?

Yes. That means I think the current consensus is most likely to be correct. Not that I accept it as unequivocal fact. If your last example where this was a bad course of action is from the time of Copernicus, then I would think in 2010 it's a safe bet. If you can provide reasoning with examples as to why this is poor reasoning, I would welcome to hear it.

    Climate change issue resolved?

I don't believe the world is warming because of a consensus. Not sure why you're trying to imply that I do. edit: You have substantially altered your post to when I originally replied. It is important to point out that you originally agreed there was a consensus.

So you agree there is a consensus?

    Climate change issue resolved?

Right then. And therefore you agree that what scientists believe is separate to what they can prove and thus the OP about your letter by 3 or 4 scientists and 252 randoms provides no evidence whatsoever that the "mainstream" view is right? Yes, I agree with that. I never said anything to the contrary. The statement I made was that as I am not educated in that field, I will adopt the view shared by the majority who are educated and in a position to have an relevant opinion* I understand that a consensus is not proof, but I will use it as an indication until the issue is resolved. *By this I am referring not to the letter in the OP, but the subsequent wiki article which I feel shows that it is indeed the mainstream view in the scientific community.

    Climate change issue resolved?

Your source states has not a single experiment, graph or data source. It contains no scientific conclusions, and no procedures. It contains letters to the media and petitions to government, as well as surveys. That is not science - it's only science to idiots. Do you consider it science? Because if you do, then you're an idiot. No I don't consider it science, nor did I ever imply as much.

Dismissing the source I provided as an idiotic article for idiots isn't proof.

    Climate change issue resolved?

I was referring to both wiki articles I provided, which are well referenced and written. Not the original letter referenced from the Slashdot article. I'll ignore the rest of you diatribe, and give you a chance to review them. You seem to have missed the point I made that shifting the burden or proof from the person making the claims to the person asking for the claims to be corroborated is unreasonable. So, no point in discussing this further.

The MS Desk was useless. I told them I had system restore disabled and that safe mode and last known good configuration made no difference. What do they do? Suggest I use system restore and see if safe mode works.

    Climate change issue resolved?

I was asked to provide evidence for my claim that a majority of the scientific community in in agreement on AGW. I have done so. I was not asked to provided evidence showing scientific proof to substantiate AGW, which is what you are now asking for. Bullshit. If you have the references provide them. He made the claim. When called on it, he started adding extra conditions. It doesn't matter how easy it is for me to prove I have access. I shouldn't have to prove something, just so he can prove the claims he originally made. It is shifting the burden or proof from himself to me, which is unreasonable as he made the original claims. If you can't see that, then there is no point in discussing this with you further. I didn't quote the rest of your reply, because my response would have been identical to what I have already said. Every single point you made about me not providing evidence for my claims is better suited towards Leonid. Why? Because I have supported my claims, without making people jump through hoops first. I'll tell you what though. I'll be happy to provide you with reliable sources to corroborate my claims, as soon as you prove you have an account with Nature. Seem reasonable?

No problems, thanks anyway. It seems to be a very rare issue, at least as I am experiencing it. I just wish I could find an error message or some indication as to the cause. I guess a reinstall is in order.

You don't understand what I was asked to provide evidence for, do you? Hint, it didn't have anything to do with science. edit: For what it's worth, there is a more comprehensive article here: Scientific opinion on climate change. It's a very comprehensive article that is well researched and well references, and supports the claim I originally made. Feel free to dismiss it, just don't accuse me of not having provided any evidence.

    Climate change issue resolved?

The wiki page I linked to has 9 references. 9. I didn't paste them here manually, because I thought it is easy enough for you to click on the wiki link and see them referenced in context. It doesn't matter, it's unnecessary. It's a copout because he isn't willing to provide them. I am a university student, and have access through my university. I have no need to prove that. It's ridiculous to expect me to have to. As I pointed out previously, it makes sense to provide the references logically, because that way anyone following the discussion can check them as well. Stating you can provide references and then finding reasons not to do so is just....pathetic. You really have been polite with me, and I respect and appreciate that. Leonid resorted to insults and assumptions from the get-go, which makes it hard for me to take him seriously. I have provided the wiki link which has 9 references. I'm not using that as conclusive proof, but as an indication. Until I see something better, I'm leaning more towards what the wiki article indicates. Whatever you may think of wiki as a source, those particular articles are better written and sourced than anything in this discussion. I did check the references on the wiki article I linked to. Which is why I consider them fine to rely on. What you point out is reasonable, that if I make the claims the onus is on me to back them up. I feel that I have done so to an extent. It's fine to dismiss or attack what I have provided, but not do so so by claiming you have evidence to the contrary and then failing to provide it. At the moment, the only argument against what I provided is "hahaha wiki". Which isn't an argument, but a dismissal. No, I never claimed a conspiracy. If you choose to what I said in that way after I've stated that wasn't the case....well....so be it. Not at all. Leonid resorts to insults, and nothing more. Yes, I refuse. Because it is unreasonable. If you have the references, provide them. It's as simple as that. He doesn't, so no problems there. I don't know how you can maintain that you have been reasonable and then insult me in the same post. Up until this post you certainly were reasonable. I don't know what else to say. The wiki article I linked to has 9 references outside of the wiki, from reliable sources. That is what I have provided. It isn't correct to say I have not provided anything just because you don't agree that what I have provided is reliable. It is entirely unreasonable for me to have to prove I have access journal articles, and I won't do it. It's a cop out, and nothing more. If you want to discuss the 9 references in the wiki article I provided several posts ago, I will be happy to respond. Otherwise, there doesn't seem much point in continuing.

-Letter is not shot down. -I do have access to any articles you could provide. -I would understand them at least as well as you do. Probably beter. -I used wiki as an indication. The references wiki provide are reliable in their own right. Oh, and then you take something I said out of context. I'm not a conspiracist, do don't try and make me look like one. At the end of the day, I've provided sources showing why I've reached the conclusion I have. You haven't bothered to do so. Instead, you refuse to backup your claims. Why? Because you can't. You can stay in your sandbox, I'll go back to discussing things with adults. Have fun.

    Climate change issue resolved?

yes, yes you are. :>) I was talking about you sunshine. You said I made claims of a conspiracy. I made no such claim. Hence, you made a false claim :) As for me backing up what I said, I have. Funny how no one has bothered to attack those references, but prefer to ignore them :) Anyway, this has been fun.

    Climate change issue resolved?

I never made any such claim. Can you please show me where I did?

    Climate change issue resolved?

Because it's unnecessary. I have access through my university account just as he probably does. I have no need to prove this and should not be required to. Besides, it doesn't matter if the person he is having the direct discussion with has an account or not. By providing the references he claimed to have then anyone following the discussion can check them out as well. It's just a cop out because he couldn't substantiate his claims.

Same here, it's a really strange error! I tried uninstalling the update, which made no difference. I booted with MSDaRT and used sfc and looked at event viewer, and nothing helped. I'm really hoping to avoid having to reinstall.

You're incorrect. I provided a subsequent quote from a wiki article. The wiki article which contains many references, so even if you dispute the wiki, the references are a tad more reliable. Leonid by comparison refused to provided the references he claimed to have without making people jump through hoops.

    Climate change issue resolved?

You seem to be confusing arrogance with evidence. Others are providing it, you are not. Claiming something does not make it so. If you want to be taken seriously, be serious. You're kidding right? I'm not the one who refused to provide the references I claimed to have.
