What is World of Tanks? World of Tanks is a free to play team-based massively multiplayer online game dedicated to armored warfare in the mid-20th century. Throw yourself into epic tank battles shoulder to shoulder with other steel cowboys to dominate the world with tank supremacy! An advanced system of vehicle upgrade and development allows you to try out the vehicles and weapons featured in the game. Whether you prefer to exhaust your foes with fast and maneuverable light tanks, punch deep into enemy lines with all-purpose medium tanks, use the power of heavy tanks to eliminate opposing forces, or become a high-powered sniper using long-range artillery, each unit type is extremely lethal and effective when commanded by a true tank ace It takes more than just being a great tank commander to win. In World of Tanks, it's all about teamwork. Victory can only be achieved through the combined efforts of every member of the team, each playing their own role on the battlefield. How do I get it? Simply fill in some details here, download the client, and you're ready to go! An important point to make is that there are multiple servers for World of Tanks, each for different geographical regions. The default server for Australian's was the North American (NA) server, however the default is now the Asian (ASIA) server. Many players have already transferred to the SEA server, and all new players are recommended to create their accounts on this server Guides and Tutorials Want some guides? A Well-Deserved Reward "Ten years ago, Wargaming was a small development studio dreaming of releasing a fantasy MMORPG. Then, in December 2008, a completely different idea shot up, replacing orcs and elves with tracks and guns. That's when World of Tanks was born. To mark the event, every tanker who registered by December 31, 2017, will receive a gift from our team, and each reward will be based on your time in World of Tanks. You can check which gift you are entitled to in the “Achievement” tab in-game. It will be based on the year of registration, not the specific date. So, for example, if you registered on December 31, 2013, you would get the same rewards as someone who registered on January 1, 2013. It took a lot of thought on how to reward everyone and we realized that finding a perfect system would prove impossible. So, we have decided to choose a system that would be the best for the majority of players. You will be able to grab your rewards from November 28, 2018 until December 2019."

Visually the game as a whole looks pretty nice these days (from videos I've seen). Wish it looked like that back when I played it haha

New forum issues/features here (Atomic πi)

I have recently noticed that with Chrome 69, Firefox 62 and Edge on Windows 10, and the former two plus Safari on Mac OS 10.13), the CPU will get absolutely smashed when visiting the forums (with no ad-blocker) . With an ad-blocker installed (in my case AdGuard AdBlocker), it believes that this site is attempting to run a crypto-currency miner, as per below: After pressing cancel the issue goes away (if I pause the ad-blocker the issue will come back). Have not noticed this with Internet Explorer 11.

I still watch Jingles and QuickBaby playing World of Tanks, and I get the same feeling too. Then when it actually comes to playing it, I remember why I stopped so move on. Don't know that I'll ever properly get back into it; game has changed so much and so have my gaming preferences.
  6. If there's been one franchise that I've always wanted to re-released, it'd have to be Jazz Jackrabbit. I sunk many hours into the Jazz Jackrabbit 2 shareware demo on my family's then new PC back in the day, and always wanted to get the full game. Alas, it's quite a difficult game to get a hold of second hand (never found it brand new either back then), so today's announcement on GOG was quite the surprise! There's also Epic Pinball too.

Yeah, the place is pretty quiet. I don't post here often anymore (this thread plus the rest of Atomic) but still lerk most days. Not playing World of Tanks doesn't help with that :-P

    Core i7 860 still useful?

My 2c It's still a decent chip, but it will be noticeably slower than newer CPU's in a lot of modern titles if you want to crank the CPU intensive details up. Take GTA V as an example (link is a graph showing benchmark results with a GTX 970) of a popular modern AAA game; a 4th gen budget i3 nets better performance. Overclocking it (something that would be worth doing) to 4GHz does help a fair bit, with the performance now in spitting distance with a Core i5 2500k at stock settings, so that is something to take into account too. Plus there are a lot of games that will be GPU bottlenecked even with a "slow" CPU. Just look at the many people still using Core 2 Quad's, 1st Gen quad core i5's and i7's and Phenom II's in their systems even with modern GPU's quite happily. So I'd say the chip would make a nice base for a budget gaming PC, just don't be surprised if a modern graphics card doesn't perform as well as it has in reviews with newer CPU's TLDR: Yes it's still a decent chip than will make a nice budget gaming system, especially if it's overclocked, but don't expect to max out everything with a modern mainstream GPU in ALL titles
  16. Epic system in the making there modzy! Looking forward to seeing how it turns out

    Pascal and Polaris

I did not know that. Thank you Dasa :-) Would be interesting if we could easily tell what the max per motherboard is then

    Pascal and Polaris

Tom's Hardware isn't happy with the PCIe slot power consumption; it's pulling more power than the spec allows (75W)
  20. ATM, people seem to be rather caught up with the Pascal/Polaris thing. Maybe you want to dovetail in with that? Yeah, that is a good point. There has been a fair amount of traffic generated here thanks to that. Hopefully a few guys here will grab some of these new cards, and have a bit to say about them I like this idea too. Over the last few weeks I've been doing something pretty similar. After finding out that a dead PC I'd been given had an i5 4670k in it (was given two locally built office systems, that were each meant to have i5 4670's), I've been doing a few benchmarks on my 2500k, a 3570k I grabbed a while ago but never ended up using, and the 4670k, trying to see how they compare to each other. If the 4670k ends up being decently better than my old 2500k, I'll likely upgrade to that, preferably before the Windows 10 offer expires
  21. Wow, that is substantially cooler! Makes me want to do that to my 3570k
