    Green slushi story

Yeah me too...I was disgusted...yet couldn't stop reading onwards to the end, descriptive is an understatement! It just takes hold....and them BAM... ewwwwww
  3. ^Nice scores all round there,.. I'm either grabbing an i7 ($400+) or another GB 290 ($300+) for Xmas,...depending on the November games and advancements/requirements/issues... Eventually both.
  4. New Post for Reflection on News some may not have heard. Is your PC ready for 4K gaming? Find out with Fire Strike Ultra, the world's first 4K Ultra HD benchmark A 4K monitor is not required, but your graphics card must have at least 3GB of memory to run this monstrously demanding benchmark.

    Alien Isolation

Emphasis on Sneaking, if you don't like sneaking, and are more action orientated like me, you may be bored as I've heard some players are... (must not be fans of Alien#1) However....the immersion factor is HIGH, loving every minute of it, going slow and sneaky is great for me, I'm taking in all the walls, textures,... buttons and memories. I don't mind all this sneaking, makes it more fun than running in guns blazing. I have the Alien set on bluray and watch them frequently enough each year or two. Just so good to have a game about the Alien experience, thats DEAD ON with the imagery and sound factor.
  6. Intel i5 4690 'so called locked..pfft' + Gigabyte's R9 290-OC I'm missing the i7 physics scores I used to have... Specs of Current System http://oi60.tinypic.com/2v12cco.jpg 3DMark 11-P - 13936 - i5 4690 3.9Ghz @ 4.025Ghz (103.2Mhz.BCLK) / Gigabyte 290-OC @ 1175/1333 - http://www.3dmark.com/3dm11/8785224 3DMark Vantage-P - 38255 - i5 4690 3.9Ghz @ 4.025Ghz (103.2Mhz.BCLK) / Gigabyte 290-OC @ 1175/1333 - http://www.3dmark.com/3dmv/5124446 <- Why is CPU Score is so Low I'm locked @ 4.0Ghz No declock.? 3DMark 06 - 34002 - i5 4690 3.9Ghz @ 4.025Ghz (103.2Mhz.BCLK) / Gigabyte 290-OC @ 1175/1333 - http://www.3dmark.com/3dm06/17663852 3DMark 05 - 42743 - i5 4690 3.9Ghz @ 4.025Ghz (103.2Mhz.BCLK) / Gigabyte 290-OC @ 1175/1333 - http://www.3dmark.com/3dm05/5521968 3Dmark 03 - 152875 - i5 4690 3.9Ghz @ 4.025Ghz (103.2Mhz.BCLK) / Gigabyte 290-OC @ 1175/1333 - http://oi59.tinypic.com/257p310.jpg Heaven 2.5 - 88.1FPS / Score = 2219 - http://oi61.tinypic.com/2qvauyo.jpg Valley X-HD - 61.5FPS / Score = 2574 - http://oi59.tinypic.com/2db75uw.jpg 3DMark Fire Strike-P - 10050 - i5 4690 3.9Ghz @ 4.17Ghz (107Mhz.BCLK) / Gigabyte 290-OC @ 1175/1333 - http://www.3dmark.com/fs/2878276 ^This is the only test with the CPU overclocked higher than the other tests. Stalker Benchmark (Not Demanding,..I had lots of CPU usage @ 0-1% while GPU usage at 12%) - i5 4690 3.9Ghz @ 4.025Ghz (103.2Mhz.BCLK) / Gigabyte 290-OC @ 1175/1333 - 303.5Points Cheers @Modz for giving me the momentum to do this. I know I can take the BCLK to 106.9, but I know full well that 107+ is a no go zone. May revisit it at some point, probably right before I throw the i7 in there. /Edit - Pushing the Limits of the 4690 & the R9 290 on Firestrike /w a score of 10170 @- http://www.3dmark.com/fs/2903520 - (4690@4.167Ghz+R9-290 1175Mhz/1565Mhz) Now I have my Avermedia LGP Recorder, I can get anything in realtime too with zero>little performance hit.(100points less in Firestrike) (Due to HDD controller intermittent activity with saving I guess) eg: The above 'pushing the limits score' frequency setup, and recording with HDMI passthrough HW encoding done on the Avermedia LGP 1080p 60Mbps 30fps So that' s quite a wall of stuff to go through... Enjoy.
  7. Thinking the RMA was going to take 4-6 Weeks... I prepared. 7970 from a friend who said 'sucked in' & to keep it & I'm using 1080p by the way. So Yep, I have a brand new replacement Gigabyte R9 290-OC 1040Mhz With RMA forms showing it's been replaced & Receipt stating original purchase date of original card and 4 Months of (Return ot store) Warranty left, but Gigabyte has a 3yr warranty still active. I have the Original Box, manual, paper bits in the box,.. everything but the Driver disc and the 4Pin Molex>PCIE adapters. So.. as they are still currently without a pricedrop on the new ones, being around $450 AUD, what would this be worth? (Has been put into my machine for testing purposes, which it passed with flying colors, that make it 'officially used'?) Would you personally, use a new pricing method or a near new pricing method?

NEW GPU VIA RMA - Replacement Selling Price?

I'lll do that,...offhand... Do you think it could sell 'Near New' @ $400
  10. Still, so very very nice. :) My score has also dimished a lot since my 2600K died. Thought my GPU was underperforming a lot, came here for referencing old scores. 4690 (non-K) is nice and fast but yeah.. I'm losing 1-2k Points. from 10000+ > 8700 So yeah, thanks for the threads existence Atomic, and the people who manage it, and this thread.

    Ultrawide FHD

I was most curious about getting a 2560x1080p for my 290-OC as IMO its the perfect sweet spot of visuals and performance. Hows the fov/immersion in games treating your eyes, pro's?, cons?

  13. New look is fantastic, and easy to use. So.. I killed my 2600K,.. Originally thought...MOBO died......A Sad day for sure... Esp when I bought a replacement mobo (which took 6 weeks and didnt arrive, disputed, and re-ordered), and the broken CPU killed that, that evening! Didn't have a lot of moneys to replace it on the spot with another i7, but had to go with what I could afford to get back up & running. i5 4690 and Mobo to suit. (Although I locked it to 3.9Ghz instead of 3.5Ghz) Man I miss the ol girl....Sandy, RIP - Many years service, handles everything with ease.... Loving the new CPU too, just not as much. Will be buying a newer i7 4790K at some stage, when I do, is when I return here with more numbers - ie 4790K+290-OC (Maybe two of em by then) Gotta keep on keepin on :)

    NFSV + Windows 8.1 = :-(

You probably have tried but,...Forced Win98/NT2000 in compatibility settings for single core only. Forcing Singlecore only, this has helped some games in the past.

    SSD + cache SSD = ?

My CrystalDiskmark + AS-SSD benchmarks show the drives being capable of reading 125MB/s, which could still be within the "read speed" spec of the 5400RPM drive. I put one in a laptop, bootup is VERY fast, Windows opening and closing of things is faster than mechanical, but not as fast as SSD's. I think trying to find specific numbers for speeds isn't the way, but just using these for a bit of time, you'll see their a great in between. That said, I'd NEVER get one for a desktop, only for a laptop. The HUGE speed increase of an SSD isn't there, but it makes do with what it can, and that's pleasantly pleasing enough for a laptop. Where Mechanical VS SSD is night and day difference , SSHD vs Mechanical is only night and day on bootup, usual windows usability is sped up but not speedy.
  19. Mmmm That tickles my insides... Thanks, Just had a look at the OP, great stuff all round :) Happy with that. Will be doing more soon also.. Put more effort into my CPU OC and have 4.6Ghz (which I had before but lesser voltage needed to get there) It can go past 4.8Ghz but on Air cooling its not great for usability as the room heats up a LOT when encoding and stays hot while I'm uploading. Just before bed no doubt. I also now leave my GPU @ 1100/1300 instead of my stock 1040/1250, not a big increase, but easily made for 24/7 usability. Wanting anything past 1175/1400 needs some extra money put W/C into the system to manage it, which I'm not fussed over. *Mobo supports Xfire but only 16x and 4x PCIE-2.0 currently. /w my 2600K, If I had a 3570k I'd still be limited with PCIE-Lanes ^ Would YOU buy a new platform or new motherboard, so you can access motherboard features and having extra PCIE lanes to use? Knowing your 2600K is fine for quite some time still... But wanting 2x 290's I'd have to upgrade to a better board for PCIE lanes. Would you stick with your current 2600k/Crossfire @ 16x and 4x, or a newer i5/i7 with 16x and 16/8x abilities? Loving the new result tables,.. Cheers Dr.Awesome

    Carmageddon: Reincarnation

FYIOpen Coastal Roads + Cows are back :P Limited early access, but so much fun... Still a lot pf performance optimizations to be done... I get huge frequent dips down to 17fps and an average of 26-33fps (can skyrocket to past 60fps at times too) Stutters happen frequently also.

Same here, I did notice however there were now two selections for Local servers. Beta Australia, and Australia It may auto default to the "Beta" if the ping is lower when it does its initial check.

    Vesuvius inbound?

Damn my 290 puts out enough heat to warm up the house. Could you imagine 2 cores on the one card? That is if that's what it is. My Single 290-OC on any GOOD day of low ambient temps I top out at 71*c. Having two of these in sandwich form.. hard to believe. 2x 290x cores @ 250w each? Unless their using 2x 290 cores, not 2x 290x to save some heat & maybe restrict the core clocks to 947mhz instead of 1000mhz or more. Would have to be watercooled like the 7990 below.
