    Bus driver uppercuts teen girl.

@ Hung, Just curious about your thoughts of Casey Haynes. Was what he did OK? He received pretty much nothing but support from the media and public for standing up for himself, but somehow this bus driver isn't allowed to retaliate to abuse?

Are you only getting your information from the video still Mac Dude? Even after the Police report has been published? Let me break it down for you as you've either missed it or didn't read it properly. Lane (the girl) gets on the bus and refuses to pay. Hughes (driver) tells woman to pay or get off the bus. Lane refuses to pay. Hughes tells Lane to get off, and tells her she's holding up the rest of the passengers. Lane responds "so what" Hughes tells her to get off the bus one last time, then starts driving as she's clearly not going to get off Lane continues to abuse him verbally, and says she will spit on him if he doesn't stop talking to her Hughes tells her to get off the bus Lane hits him in the head, grabs his throat and spits on him Hughes pulls over Hughes gets his phone to call the police Lane slaps his phone out of his hand Hughes gets out of his seat and punches her in the face and pushes her out of the bus door with force Passengers step in to separate them after she gets up and wants to fight him Hughes flags down two(?) patrol cars Move Police arrive at the scene (were called by the bus company I assume). Police statements are taken. THE END. Still failing to see how he's meant to just sit there and take this shit? I think she deserved it. Do unto others etc etc. Why doesn't that surprise me... I don't know, why don't you tell me?

I don't think he did anything wrong, he clearly put up with her (verbal and physical) abuse for a while, and then when trying to use his phone (to apparently call the Police) she knocked it out of his hand and that was the last straw for him. I say fair enough. I likely would have done my best to put her on her arse too. It's unreasonable to expect him to handle the situation any different. Sometimes the only way to end a confrontation like this one is to respond in a similar way to your abuser. I think she deserved it. Do unto others etc etc.
  4. A GTX 660 is far from ideal IMO, you'd want to be looking at a HD 7950 or GTX 670 as it alows you to pick up a new screen in the future (that is if you're still panning on utilizing you're $2,500 budget). If you're playing at 1920x1080 the card you chose is passable, but i'd pick up the 7870 OC from Gigabyte instead of their GTX 660 as it's the same price and around 5% faster. Not a whole lot, but it's free performance right? Up to you if you want to stick to Nvidia exclusively, though I'm not sure why you'd pass up a free boost in frames.

    The Following

It's got the daughter from Taken; Poor girl can't catch a break :P Looks pretty good, at least from the trailer. I'll surely be waiting in anticipation.

    What's on your mind?

Surely that's at a Christian / Catholic School though?
  7. Personally I'd rather the system I built for the money. You've spent big cash on certain parts, then skimped on the GPU, not what you want to do on a gaming PC. For the money you've spent, you could build my system, plus buy a brand new ASUS 2560x1440 monitor!

    Bitfenix Prodigy Build

Nesquick, I agree to a point. I like the look of the Prodigy, and you can fit a half decent system inside of one. For that reason I don't see a problem with using one in a build, whether it's using an ITX board or not really isn't an issue for me personally, though I can understand why it may be a problem for others. If all the builder needs is a single PCIe slot for a GPU, then an ITX board likely accommodates those needs.
  11. Because normally when people are asking for help on hardware, they aren't going to be overclocking it.

    Red Bull Stratos

I'm pretty sure you're right, but that's semantics really isn't it? He went close to 1200KM's IIRC, which for me is fast enough :) EDIT: Just so I'm not mistaken, the speed of sound in normal atmospheric conditions is ~1230km/h isn't it?

This link has a fairly long version of the video uploaded, as well as a scan of the official Police report. The report has statements from witnesses and the driver.

It's no doubt awe-inspiring, but a balloon dive was done in the 60's that was of a very comparable height. Not sure if balloons are a practical method for assisted orbital launches normally, given the payload is typically much heavier than a single human sky diver. The obvious problem with the "cocoon" re-entry would be the speed at which the astronauts first hit the ozone layer. Jumping from inside it, and outside is vastly different. Think of it as jumping from a high dive board, if you don't get the right entry, you're going to make an awful mess. I know it's not the same, as entering a liquid is different from a gas (obviously), but it's the best analogy I could think of :P Jumping from inside the atmosphere has a very few comparable complications to jumping from outside of it.
  16. So what you are saying is stick with a HDD setup but allocate the SSD for Page File usage in Windows to speed things up. That sounds better. I was thinking with HDMI for DVD/Bluray watching too. If i can use both formats in Gaming ,eyesight is still on par for a 51 year old. I was also looking at either a Z77 - UP4 - TH or a G1.Sniper.3 mobo I was originally going to suggest a UP4-TH board, but decided against it to keep costs down :) If you want one of those I can't recommend them highly enough. HDMI is good for media if you want to also carry the audio through to your monitor (normally useful when plugging your PC into a TV). Other than that, you're better off using standard audio jacks. Keep in mind that Display Port can also transmit audio, the same as HDMI while also supporting much higher resolutions. If you do buy Nvidia, make sure you buy a card with Display Port. If your eyesight is up to scratch, then i'd suggest picking up either the ASUS or DELL screen I posted. Both are very comparable, with the ASUS being cheaper at retail price. if you're patient however, and wait for the next DELL sale, you could pick yourself up a U2713 for around $599. I use a U2711 at home and love it, but I actually like the U2713 more, as it's fixed a few of the little issues I had with the U2711, despite being a marginally "inferior" panel on paper. The PSU is a rebadged Seasonic M12II Bronze.

@ Hung So you're saying you'd just sit there being spat on and hit, and just wait / hope that eventually someone comes to help you?

    Bus driver uppercuts teen girl.

To be fair, if someone was hitting me in the head and spitting on me (if that is indeed what provoked him) I'd have come pretty close to punching her in the face too. It's easy to say he was out of line, but put yourself in the situation the driver found himself in, with a crowd cheering her on as she verbally and physically abuses you. Would you really just sit back and radio in for the Police while you're continually abused? I find it funny how this bus driver is considered scum for lashing out against his "bully" or attacker, yet when Casey Haynes beat up the kid bullying him he was called a "hero" by the media. If it was only verbal, then yes, he overstepped the line by quite a margin, but if she started the physical abuse first I really can't find any sympathy for her.

    Idea for instant OS load/shutdown

I usually just optimise my BIOS and remove any extra features or checks from startup that aren't required. On my ASUS board I brought the bootup time of ~28 seconds down to 11.

    Bitfenix Prodigy Build

It's not really accurate advice though Nesquick, as hardly any m-ATX cases are the same dimensions as the Prodigy. WxHxD = 250x404x359 (mm). One of the few is the Lian Li PC-A05FN, but it's still far deeper to accommodate the m-ATX motherboard. WxHxD = 210x385x500 (mm) The A05FN aside, there really aren't that many other cases to pick from.
  22. You could, but it wouldn't perform quite as strong at 2560x1440 for your dollar. Using SSD for caching is different to a conventional SSD OS installation, you get a comparable speed boost without the risks of catastrophic data loss. HDMI and DVI are the same display signal, HDMI can carry audio signals as well as display, that's the only difference. I'd personally suggest going with the 2560x1440, but you may prefer a 1920x1080 screen if your eyesight is poor. Forgive me, but from memory you're in your senior years aren't you? If you've got good vision, hit up a 2560x1440 screen and enjoy the pretty pictures while you can :P, if not, perhaps look at the LG S227L I suggested.
  23. I'd follow Nequick's advice. $1500 gets you a good PC, wait for a U2713 to go on sale again for around $599 (could be a few months), then grab a good pair of speakers / headphones with the change. Something like this should suffice for the tower: Case: BitFenix Shinobi Black Case $69 Case Fan: 6x Nexus Real Silent 120mm Fan $54 CPU Cooler: CoolerMaster Hyper 212 EVO CPU Cooler $35 (replace the fan with a nexus) GPU: Gigabyte Radeon HD7950 3GB Overclocked $335 Mobo: Gigabyte GA-H77-D3H-MVP $105 CPU: Intel Core i5 3470 $189 RAM: Corsair CMX8GX3M2A1600C9 8GB (2x4GB) DDR3 $45 SSD: OCZ Nocti mSATA SSD 30GB (for m-SATA cache drive on Motherboard) $55 HDD: Hitachi Deskstar 7K1000 1TB 7200RPM 0F15632 $79 ODD: LG BH14NS40 14X BD-R Blu-ray Writer $89 PSU: Antec Neo Eco 620C 620W Power Supply $85 Total: $1140 Monitor Choices: Dell U2713 - $799 - Wait for a sale, or buy the ASUS instead. ASUS PB278Q - $689 - extremely comparable to the U2713, get one if you can't wait for the DELL to go on sale. LG IPS277L - $399 - 1080P isn't ideal, but this is the best of a bad bunch IMO. The poor mans 27" IPS. Speakers: Audioengine P4 Black - $269 Headphones: Corsair Vengeance 1300 Analog - $65 Shure SRH440 Professional Studio Headphones - $99 (best bang for buck IMO) Audio-Technica ATH-AD700 - $149 (my pick for gaming) Shure SRH840 Professional Monitoring Earphones - $179 (my pick for music) You could go cheaper on a few things if you'd like to save more money, but it's what i'd use for an MMO / general use box. If you find the HD7950 can't drive the DELL / ASUS 1440P screen in some games you play, pick up a second one when the price suits you.
