Has anyone tested the netcode? Anything close to 2011 epic wheel to wheel battle levels?

I had my post in that thread deleted yesterday, the mods only allow talk about their own RD leagues. Now they'll probably think we're on the attack :) e: prob a good idea if you edit it before that happens. They took out my links but see if you can leave at least the name in there somewhere... Oh damn, didn't know they were Nazis. Apologies Master Flounce. EDIT: They removed my post lol

    [PC] Atomic F1 season... 8!

I had a bit of a play on a bootleg copy. Seems they reduced the 2012 exaggerated understeer but it's no where near as pointy as 2011 was even though a few have given that impression. The understeer feedback in my G25 is much more understandable and almost progressive? So slightly less understeer but the rear grip under throttle has changed big time. While I do like the need for precise throttle control, the car sliding feels like you're holding for dear life on a 3 tonne boat. Really awful sliding physics imo. 2011 and 2012 sliding was a lot more natural and predictable, 2013 feels very clunky. To add to that, maybe I'm not pushing the limits enough but I can no longer get the rear to step out under heavy braking and turning in. So they've made some parts of the handling harder and some easier. I drove on default setup in Career mode in the Lotus and then compared it to various 1/1 11/11 setups and it's all very similar. Maybe I can't tell much difference with my old G25 but I don't think setups will make a large difference in handling but they do make a difference in track times. I haven't had enough running yet to work out whether these setups will kill the tyres more than standard but I know spinning up the rears will instantly change the tyre temp indicator and wear indicators! With the new rear grip change, this also changed launch procedures. I've practiced so many starts now but I still don't know how to beat the AI on launches... It's no longer mash the pedal anymore. But then if you don't have enough revs it just bogs down. I can't work out what the optimal amount of wheel spin is. :/ Anyway that's my general feeling about 2013 from 2 hours of play.

    Atomic F1 GP1 Season 7

Section B has an interesting and relatively new rule which I completely forgot about: "Any driver moving back towards the racing line, having earlier defended his position off-line, should leave at least one car width between his own car and the edge of the track on the approach to the corner." This seems to be regardless of whether a significant part of the attacking car is beside you or not and it makes sense for the reasons seemingly stated here earlier. Once someone defends a line, the other person is likely to commit to an alternative line which may need different braking markers and if those markers are then interrupted, accidents are more likely to happen and be unavoidable. So that's for real time racing, put it into the context of games and another factor comes into it - netcode. I don't see why anyone would want to push their luck given the risk of accident already without netcode/bubble amplifying it...

Nope, didn't touch me. Had to give position back from avoiding Nightfire off the track: And yes you scared me when you dove back down in the inside after DRS. I was particularly weak in braking at that turn due to no practice. Surprised you didn't try to keep attacking with +5 fuel? Codemasters did an exceptional job with the netcode. :)

You weren't supposed to be there, that's why. :P But really awesome move, I saw your arrows and made as tight a line as possible to give space. My normal line runs well over the ripples so by that definition I gave you 1 car's width. :P Excellent and brave move just like RoGro's move. Mark you are a joy to race with. :D My view for the curious:

I will send my army of ferrets to sabotage next season's Caterhams! It's always you Ghost. Intense and me were so excited to be gunning for P3 in constructors but then you Mr Ghost, had to change everything. Well done on P3 Ghost. Who's that other useless bloke in your team?

    Atomic F1 GP1 Season 7

Sunday Driver's Quote Mercedes - ToF What a disappointing closing race for season 7 but it was fun at times. Came into this race knowing I had the pace to beat Preyst and Yamaha for once and knew I had to make some do or die moves to get past. I got lucky with qualifying to start P3 since it wasn't a perfect lap but instantly had a problem at race start when I lost position to both Preyst and Yamaha in the first 3 turns. The following 6 laps was the most frustrating time on the track I've had for a long time. Preyst and Yamaha just kept holding each other up and because we were all on primes I couldn't commit to a do or die move on 2 cars. It was only after Oz caught up to us with his superior options that he was able to disturb the bottleneck that allowed Daz and Flukey to disappear. With Oz interrupting, I was able to make a pass on Yamaha but lost it again as I accidentally bumped Oz at the end of DRS and decided to give the place back. A few laps later he went wide and let me through and I started to slowly catch Preyst and Yamaha. These 2 then decided to pit earlier than expected so I tried to beat their undercut by staying out a couple of laps on rich but the tyre difference was too much and I lost 2 secs ground to them. It was then time to catch them up with qually laps to the end but that was stopped by KERS exploding. Nice timing Codemasters/Mercedes! KERS didn't return until 5 laps later but the damage had been done, now 6.5 secs behind Yamaha. As soon as KERS came back I gained over half a sec per lap and got the gap down to under 4 secs just before the end of the race but it was too little too late for me. Felt like I lost any podium chances in the first laps but that's racing and that's an area I'll be discussing with my teammate Intense who is a lot stronger. P4 and P8 not a bad result for the team meaning we surpassed our season goal of achieving the best ever result for the team. While we came 4th in constructors, it was tough to stay ahead of Lotus. We also exceeded the previous points total of 174 of E.T. and MaverickROM back in season 3. After a season of ups and downs, this was a great result for Intense and me. :)

LOL I never knew you just did it for a show. It always gives me a laugh at the start of race so it works. I know its 2 turns but it's more fun if u keep going, you should try it.

    Atomic F1 GP1 Season 7

Sorry for late video, been a busy start to the week for me. COTA was a fun race for me in the end. I had to miss Friday practice with a knee injury all week so I was really on the back foot only putting about 3 laps down before qualifying start. After I got lucky in the mixed conditions qualifying securing P5, the luck ended. I got a decent launch and got up beside Riley into T1. It looked like I got out clean through T1 but then Parkour just ever so slightly bumps me up the inside and I work furiously to catch a spin. Lost about 3 spots and in the process and had Eradicator sniffing for a way past ASAP. He got his way pretty quickly down the inside of T11 with just a slight love tap, a very gutsy move! I tried to fight back down the inside of T12 but wasn't able to hold it into T13. Very fun wheel to wheel racing. From there on it became clear that the race was more damage limitation than I thought. I tried my hardest to stay with Eradicator but kept slipping back. Next lap my team mate Intense got DRS and I let him breeze through. I then lost another place to Ghost and almost fell into Flouncy's radar. Without the practice I kept making mistakes, switching between over driving then under driving the car. Got annoyed at myself for not figuring out sector 1 the whole race and losing so much time under braking into T12 (end of DRS leaving me vulnerable). I did end up catching Lambo at the end of our primes stint and made a split second decision to stay out and try to beat his undercut. It worked but then Nightfire returning to the track forced me off the track which Codemasters FIA punished me for by making me give the position back which also allowed Lambo so slip past! Damn it, more hard work I didn't need! I eventually pass Ghost and Lambo which wasn't as easy I thought it would be. Next up the road was that pesky Eradicator who was so ruthless at the start on his options. With only 6 laps to go I had to close the gap without crashing. I make a straightforward DRS overtake for once with 3 laps to go then I just cruised to the end safely for a great team result of P5-P6. Well done to Intense on his best result in GP1, P5! A good weekend for Mercedes with 18 points on the board!
