  1. As I know, the W8970 is a All-in-One Device: ADSL2+ Modem, NAT Router, 4-Gigabit-Port Switch and Wireless N Access Point,

with 3 x 5dBi Antenna Gain have really secure the 300Mbps Wireless speed, also supporting Bandwidth Control which set to the maximum download limitation on each user.

VPN Pass-Through, but also support 10 IPSec VPN Tunnels,

2 USB ports for storage sharing, printer sharing, FTP Server and Media Server

Its quite good looking pic and have all the function we need it, but still don't know how much will it cost ?

  2. Cloud Computing Worst Nightmare or Heaven for IT personnel and potential it personnel.

For those who has some idea about cloud computing it is purely a concept of outsourcing a company's processing and data storage requirement to an external company. It simply means companies will strip itself from all or most of its servers, computers, programs, application and get it runned remotely by a professional company.

Would this concept lead to lots of lost of IT jobs now and the near future?

I will say so front-user/in-house support will be less demandable due to this particular technology, however one could argue that most of the technicial support will be required by company providing the cloud computing services however I don't think they will a lot of people for it.

What do you guys/ladies think about it.

  3. Hi, all

I just got my new router TD-W8968 to replace my old netgear CMD31T , i can login the setup page on the explore, but i cannot log into the Management Page with NOD 32 ESET?

    anyone can help?

the NOD32 ESET software including ESET EAV(ESET Anti-virus) and ESS(ESET Smart Security) Version 5 will affects the normallogging procedure to the Management Page in Windows OS. After typing into the correct login address, the webpage will shows username and password is incorrect.

Here is a step-by-step instruction to handle this problem.

1 Open the main interface of the ESET software.

2 Press F5 to the Advanced Setup, then click Web and email ->protocol filtering->Excluded IP addresses

3 Click Add IPv4 address in Windows 7/Vista or Add address in Windows XP, and type into the LAN IP of your Router (default is, then click OK.

4 Open the web browser and type the IP address of the device in the address bar (default is Press Enter.

5Type the username and password in the login page, the default username and password both are admin, then click OK to login to the device.

  4. I have just switched to the Ultimate plan with Telstra Cable. The wired speeds are great. Well over 100mbps.

But wireless drops off very fast, to such an extent that it is difficult to watch youtube clips in the bedroom or the back garden (around 20m and 15m from the modem) . Speed tests get as slow as 0.25mbps

This is so irritating that I have been thinking of buying a range extender. (any cheap recomenations for this?)

However is there anything I can do to the modem settings or placement or any other low cost method to squeeze out a little more range?

For the video or large size of file to transfer over the wireless is not that stable, many reason will interfere with the signal,

so,use a Powerline adapter such as TL-PA511, or TL-PA210kit, to extand your internet to your router, will be the best solution for you.

and the most important thing is all those device are less than $50 for a pair..

  5. Hi all

I had a Netger DGN2000 and the wifi range was fine in the house but the 2000 died. I bought the DGND3700 as a replacement but wifi range is lower. I am looking at buying a repeater to put in the dead area, but unsure which one to purchase, any suggestions?

The house has rj45 points in every room so I can connect the repeater via cat5 and then the devices in that area can connect to the wifi repeater.

I would like to recommand you the TP-LINK TL-WA830RE which with 300Mbps wireless speed, Two MIMO antennas greatly extend your existing wireless coverage to eliminate “dead zones”,

or you can choice the TL-WA730RE with 150 mbps wireless, but have the same function and lower price...
