    Is it a PSU issue?

    Hi Atomicans. Back again. Been away for months and back here to see the PC which has had the problem since and it has not been resolved. So we thought it might be a keyboard or mouse. So we did change the keyboard, and the mouse, and the DVDRW drive with no luck. So I took the system home. Opened it up, cleaned it. Removed unnecessary cables off the PSU. Also replaced the PCI-E cable. So the system might startup, it might not. It gives power to the fans and all with no Post Beep. Or it can halt in the BIOS. OR it might get into windoes safe mode and then when you restart it just halts. Or trying to get into windows you get a blue screen (cannot attach a screenshot, need to be a link uploaded somewhere :( ). So it cannot be the keyboard or mouse. I measured the power out of the PSU and it seems fine. So my guess is that the MOBO is playing up. Done some google searches and people have had problems with this particular ASUS mobo. I don't know what else to check. We could just get a new mobo. Any thoughts?
  2. I never OC. Always thought that it shortens the component's lifespan. So intel instead of AMD. lol always had AMD. My intel was the old 486sx lol and my laptop :)
  3. Hi, I have a LAN setup with 8 desktops. They are old DELL Optiplex desktops and because they have custom cases they are hard to upgrade now that the Dell warranty has ran out. (They have Pentium D CPUs) I was wondering if it is worth while building new systems using these AMD processors that are both CPU & GPU at the same time. Like the AMD A6 5400K 3.6GHZ BLACK EDITION BOX for example. What these machines are used for is just simple desktop tasks, like wordprocessing (office package) and playing Call of Duty 2 with friends. Are these processors any good? Can I use them as a cheap desktop build? (money is a problem at the moment). Should I get these or go for a different setup of a cheap CPU and some budget graphics card? My main concern is to be able to ran office applications and to be able to play Call of Duty 2 on LAN. Any thoughts? thanks
  4. thank you all for your replies. So it is worth getting such a processor in order to save money on a simple desktop machine. If there is no need for graphics card you can save a lot of money. I didn't know that some i3 models also have a gpu build in.
  5. Hi Atomicans. I want to get a new monitor. Gaming. I have been reading around about getting a 24" or 27" and most people suggest to go for a 24" at the same 1920x1080 resolution. Too bad you can hardly find 1920x1200 (16:10) anymore. Anyway going for a 24" at 1920x1080, I'm looking at these 3 monitors I can find at the stores I order from: LG 24EA53VQ-P 24'' LED IPS Monitor Samsung S24B350H 24'' LED Monitor ASUS VS248H 24'' HDMI + DVI LED FULL HD Viewsonic VX2453MH 24" LED Monitor Now which do you think is best? I've had a good service experience with LG in the past. Samsung I'm told have the best screens. I want this monitor for gaming and I play a lot of FPS games. The LG has the IPS technology. Is that better? Also they show 2ms(GTG) which is really closer to 5ms (BTWTB) so ms is not a problem. Overall I want people's opinion on a 24" monitor. Which one would you get out of those 4? Or is there something a lot better you could recommend? thanks Check out these 24" http://www.e-shop.gr/search_main.phtml?off...mp;filter-456=1 there are some Phillips ones listed too. I don;t want a TV/Monitor. just plain gaming monitor.
  6. well ended up getting the Dell U2412M 16:10 IPS monitor. I am impressed. Well its definitely an upgrade from my last monitor. I only played FarCry 3 so far and it looks awesome. Downloading Battlefield 3 updates now. I like the 16:10 and the higher than 1080p resolution. It does give you more space to work with. No reflections, beautiful colors, it spins so its great when playing hotseat games like heroes V. I love it. Cannot wait to play Skyrim on it and Neverwinter Nights 2:) Thanks all for your replies. I think it was a good choice in the end. People mentioned to calibrate the monitor. Not looked into it yet. Also have not changed the modes.
  7. Yes I did do a fresh install on the HDD. Will try to get the blue screen error screenshot.
  8. Yes, I currently have an old LG 1680x1050 22". Connected via analog port. To be honest I'm not 100% sure about the choice but I guess the more you read the more confusing it gets and harder to make up your mind. If I had the money I would have gone for a 27" at a higher resolution than 1080. They are just too expensive. (for my budget anyway). I liked some monitors with very high resolutions, but then again you need to worry about performance in games, and dropping the resolution would mean that the game plays at a lower than the monitor's native res.
  9. Hi all, I want to upgrade my desktop and I do have the ASUS M4A77TD PRO mobo, and the Corsair X520W PSU. Now I want to get 16G RAM (max for my mobo), an SSD, and a new Graphics Card. Looking at these Graphics cards from scorptech: http://www.scorptec.com.au/computer/48230-hd7870-dc2-2gd5-v2 or http://www.scorptec.com.au/computer/49120-sa-7870-2gd5-xt and these RAM from scorptech: http://www.scorptec.com.au/computer/43314-cmz16gx3m4x1600c9 Now will my PSU run them? I also want to add an audigy sound card. Will have an SSD and a HDD drive. Might even get a new case with more fans. My main concern is the Power Supply if its going to be good enough. IF not, what's my best option for a GPU? thanks a lot Atomicans
  10. Well if I made the right choice it'll show when I pickup the monitor. I got the DELL U2412M 24'' ULTRASHARP. It is IPS, it does have a high resolution 1920x1200, it does have a lot of features, and for the price you get a lot out of it. I like the stand, how I can spin it around if I need to show someone something. I do tend to use adobe products an it will give me nice colors. And I do play games. I've been reading about response time and all that for FPS games, but at the end of the day, there are a lot of factors that could make or break a gaming session. Like net lag. (anyway with the old crappy monitor I still kicked some %$# on Counter Strike and Call of Duty MW2 online). I also play a lot of RPG games. Like Skyrim and Neverwinter. The other thing too is that I went to a shop just to take a look at some screens. I look at so many that looked good on their websites, but physically and touching them, they felt so cheap and plastic. So overall, considering an all round monitor I think it is a good choice. I would get a 27" monitor if it had a higher resolution. 1920x1080 is not right on a big screen like that. And when you do find it at a higher resolution it cost a lot more. Anyway. I'll wait to see what it's like an I'll post here. thanks people :)
  11. OK thanks, so IPS for great image quality and 120hz for less input lag. OK thanks
  12. Can you tell me some model names so I could try find one? This is a good one: http://www.pccasegear.com/index.php?main_p...oducts_id=19260 It's a TN panel type...
  13. thanks for the replies.... got it sorted
  14. Hi, I have a form with multiple tables, and I need to post the data into a single database table. Table 1 --------- id company_name delivery_address order_date delivery_date status checked loaded_by pallets extra_blocks extra_pallets total_pallets Table 2 --------- id order_id (foreign key join with table 1) block_series block_type block_quantity Here is a code example of how my form is generated: <?php $sql = "SELECT * FROM blocks_table WHERE series='100 Series'"; // 100 SERIES -------------------------------------------------------------------- $result = mysql_query($sql)or die(mysql_error()); $series = 100; $rowcounter = 0; echo '<table class="styled-table">'; echo '<tr><th>100 Series</th><th>Per Pallet</th><th>Quantity</th><th>Pallets</th><th>Extras</th></tr>'; while($row = mysql_fetch_array($result)){ $rowcounter++; echo '<tr><td>'.$row['type'].'</td> <td><input type="text" name="'.$series.'perpallet'.$rowcounter.'" id="'.$series.'perpallet'.$rowcounter.'" style="width:50px;" value="'.$row['per_pallet'].'" readonly /></td> <td><input type="text" name="'.$series.'quantity'.$rowcounter.'" id="'.$series.'quantity'.$rowcounter.'" style="width:50px;" value="0" onChange="getTotal('.$series.','.$rowcounter.');" /></td> <td><input type="text" name="'.$series.'pallets'.$rowcounter.'" id="'.$series.'pallets'.$rowcounter.'" style="width:50px;" value="0" class="pallets" readonly /></td> <td><input type="text" name="'.$series.'extras'.$rowcounter.'" id="'.$series.'extras'.$rowcounter.'" style="width:50px;" value="0" class="extras" readonly /></td> </tr>'; } echo '</table>'; ?> </div> <div class="left"> <?php $sql = "SELECT * FROM blocks_table WHERE series='150 Series'"; // 150 SERIES -------------------------------------------------------------------- $result = mysql_query($sql)or die(mysql_error()); $series = 150; $rowcounter = 0; echo '<table class="styled-table">'; echo '<tr><th>150 Series</th><th>Per Pallet</th><th>Quantity</th><th>Pallets</th><th>Extras</th></tr>'; while($row = mysql_fetch_array($result)){ $rowcounter++; echo '<tr><td>'.$row['type'].'</td> <td><input type="text" name="'.$series.'perpallet'.$rowcounter.'" id="'.$series.'perpallet'.$rowcounter.'" style="width:50px;" value="'.$row['per_pallet'].'" readonly /></td> <td><input type="text" name="'.$series.'quantity'.$rowcounter.'" id="'.$series.'quantity'.$rowcounter.'" style="width:50px;" value="0" onChange="getTotal('.$series.','.$rowcounter.');" /></td> <td><input type="text" name="'.$series.'pallets'.$rowcounter.'" id="'.$series.'pallets'.$rowcounter.'" style="width:50px;" value="0" class="pallets" readonly /></td> <td><input type="text" name="'.$series.'extras'.$rowcounter.'" id="'.$series.'extras'.$rowcounter.'" style="width:50px;" value="0" class="extras" readonly /></td> </tr>'; } echo '</table>'; ?> </div> Inserting the data in the order_table is simple enough, because it is not repeating information. The data from the above tables (there are more than these two), will all be inserted into the same table order_details_table. How do I loop through these tables, and insert the data in the database table??? thanks
  15. there are also some 23" Philips monitors that are IPS...
  16. The LG 24EA53VQ-P is cheap and is an IPS one... what do you think?
  17. so confused now with all this. The more I read, the more I don't know what to get. 16:10 is better than 16:9 for sure. Don't have a range to pick from though. there's IPS, 120Hz etc etc....
  18. That DELL has 8ms GTG. doesn't that make it slow for FPS games?
  19. Can you tell me some model names so I could try find one?
  20. also want to get a new monitor. Been reading about the war between 24" and 27" monitors. Some people say that there is no need to go for a 27" at 1080p, and that at 1920x1080 resolutions the 24" is better with smaller pixels. So I guess it would be better to go for a 27" only at higher resolutions. which do you prefer for gaming? Doesn't 1920x1080 seem more a movie rez and not for gaming? But then again higher rez will stree the GPU and games will not run as good?
  21. I just placed the order. Corsair 8GB (2x4GB), PC3-12800 (1600MHz) DDR3, Vengeance, 8-8-8-24, 1.5V, Dual Channel Kit (x2 to max 16GB) Hard Drives - Solid State (SSD) - OCZ - VTR1-25SAT3-256G Graphics Cards - PCI Express - Sapphire - SA-7870-2GD5-XT thanks for your replies people. This should boost my system. Now I need a coolermaster midi-tower with some extra fans, and a new monitor. I need a monitor. LED 27" or bigger.
  22. Thanks for your replies. I will get the Sapphire Radeon HD7870 XT Edition with Boost, 2GB - $259.00 About RAM, should I get 2x8 or 4x4 for a total of 16GB??? EDIT: Looks like I need 4x4. Mobo does not support 8g modules. So how about these: http://www.scorptec.com.au/computer/39733-cmz16gx3m4a1600c9 or these X2 : http://www.scorptec.com.au/computer/39732-cmz8gx3m2a1600c8
  23. Hi, Created a simple database in MySQL with phpMyAdmin I have two tables: tblblockseries ---------------- blockseriesID BlockSeries and tblBockType -------------- blocktypeID blockseriesID <----- this should link the two tables. A foreign key right? blocktype blocksperpallet I want to populate the second table. The first table is populated with the series, and the second table I want to populate with types. One Series has many types. Now the form I've created, populates a combo-box with the BlockSeries from the first table, and I type in the other fields. With a correct relationship setup, shouldn't the second table be populated with the id from the first table? So that when I select a BlockSeries from the dropdown-box, that should insert the blockSeriesID as per the selection. And the other data to be keyed in. How do I get this to work? Tried everything in phpMyAdmin with the relationships. Everytime I create a relationship and I try to use the form, I get error. If I have no relationship between the two tables, the form works but I get a "0" in the BlockSeriesID field of the second table. any thoughts? doing google searches an reading and cannot figure it out

    MySQL phpMyAdmin Relationship

    Yes it is One to Many. One Block Series has Many Block Types. OK I dropped the tables and re-created them. When inserting content from within phpMyAdmin, it works fine now. So I must have got the relationship right. My html form for entering data is not working. Here is my form: <html> <body> <form action="insert-blocktype.php" method="post"> <table> <tr> <td>Block Series:</td> <td> <?php $link = mysql_connect("localhost", "dbuser", "password"); mysql_select_db("my_db", $link); $query="SELECT id,block_series FROM block_series_table"; $result = mysql_query ($query); echo "<select name=blockseries=''>Block Series</option>"; while($nt=mysql_fetch_array($result)){ echo "<option value=$nt[id]>$nt[block_series]</option>"; } echo "</select>"; ?> </td> </tr> <tr> <td>Block Type:</td> <td><input type="text" name="blocktype"></td> </tr> <tr> <td>Blocks Per Pallet:</td> <td><input type="text" name="blocksperpallet"></td> </tr> <tr> <td><input type="submit"></td> </tr> </form> </body> </html>and the insert php <?php $link = mysql_connect('localhost', 'dbuser', 'password'); if (!$link) { die('Could not connect: ' . mysql_error()); } mysql_select_db("my_db", $link); $insert="INSERT INTO block_type_table (series_id, block_type, blocks_per_pallet) VALUES ('$_POST[blockseries]','$_POST[blocktype]','$_POST[blocksperpallet]')"; if(mysql_query($insert,$link)){ echo "Record added"; }else{ die('Error: ' . mysql_error()); } mysql_close($link); header('Location: ' . $_SERVER['HTTP_REFERER']); ?> I don't mind so much about this. But I want to know if I'm doing it right. Now I need to create an order_table, and an order_form to populate the table. Now this form will have dropdown boxes for selecting block-series, which should populate the next dropdown box being the block-type, doing calculation and using the data to populate the table.
  25. Hi, I have a simple database in Access 2010. I created 3 tables as follows: tblClients: --------- ClientID LastName FirstName CompanyName Address City State ZIPPostal PhoneNumber MobileNumber Email tblProduct: ---------- ProductID ProductSeries ProductType ProductsPerPallet tblOrders: ---------- OrderID OrderDate ClientID LastName FirstName CompanyName DeliveryAddress DeliveryDate DeliveryStatus ProductID ProductSeries ProductType ProductAmount PalletsAmount Now the relationship is setup so that tblClients is linked one to many with tblOrders (ClientID), and the tblProduct linked one to many with tblOrders (ProductID) Now what I'm trying to do, is to have 3 entry forms. I created the entry forms for tblClient and tblProduct easy. OK Now the form for the orders is where I'm kinda lost. I want the person using this to select a client from a combo box, which will then populate from this selection the fields: LastName, FirstName, and Company Name. And then, from another combo box, to select the Product series (this combobox gets populated from tblProduct), which should populate another combobox with only the productTypes of the selected series. So picking a ProductSeries from one combobox, should filter the product types in the other combobox. (there are many types per series) Once all these details are selected the tblOrder table will be populated so I can then ran reports. Each product type has an amount per pallet. So depending on the amount of products ordered, the pallet amount will be calculated. Any help will be appreciated. Thanks in advance.
