    Well, sort of got something working. Getting this Run-time error 3075 now though. Fixing it, it works and then when you close Access 2010 and restart getting the error again :( here is the code: Private Sub cboClient_Change() Me.txtLastName.Value = Me.cboClient.Column(1) Me.txtFirstName.Value = Me.cboClient.Column(2) Me.txtCompanyName.Value = Me.cboClient.Column(3) End Sub Private Sub cmdAdd_Click() 'add data to table CurrentDb.Execute "INSERT INTO tblOrder(OrderDate,LastName,FirstName,CompanyName,DeliveryAddress,BlockSeries,BlockTy pe,BlockAmount,ExtraBlocks,PalletAmount,ExtraPallets,DeliveryDate,OrderStatus,Pa l letsReturned,DeliveryDateChanged)" & _ "VALUES(" & Me.txtOrderDate & ",'" & Me.txtLastName & "','" & Me.txtFirstName & "','" & Me.txtCompanyName & "','" & Me.txtDeliveryAddress & "','" & Me.cboBlockSeries & "','" & Me.cboBlockType & "','" & Me.txtBlockAmount & "','" & txtExtraBlocks & "','" & txtPalletAmount & "','" & txtExtraPallets & "','" & Me.txtDeliveryDate & "','" & Me.cboOrderStatus & "','" & Me.txtPalletsReturned & "','" & Me.chkDeliveryDareChanged & "')" 'refresh data in list on form 'frmOrderSub.Form.Requery End Sub Private Sub cmdClear_Click() 'clear all inputs Me.txtOrderDate = "" Me.cboClient = "" Me.txtLastName = "" Me.txtFirstName = "" Me.txtCompanyName = "" Me.txtDeliveryAddress = "" Me.cboBlockSeries = "" Me.cboBlockType = "" Me.txtBlockAmount = "" Me.txtExtraBlocks = "" Me.txtPalletAmount = "" Me.txtExtraPallets = "" Me.txtDeliveryDate = "" Me.cboOrderStatus = "" Me.txtPalletsReturned = "" Me.chkDeliveryDareChanged = "" 'focus on first form item Me.cboClient.SetFocus End Sub Private Sub cmdClose_Click() DoCmd.Close End Sub Private Sub Form_Load() Me.cboBlockSeries = Me.cboBlockSeries.ItemData(0) cboBlockSeries_AfterUpdate End Sub Private Sub cboBlockSeries_AfterUpdate() Me.cboBlockType.RowSource = "SELECT BlockType " & _ "FROM tblBlockType " & _ "WHERE SeriesID = " & Nz(Me.cboBlockSeries) Me.cboBlockType.Requery Me.cboBlockType = Me.cboBlockType.ItemData(0) End Sub it happens in: the Private Sub cmdAdd_Click()

I've made changes to the tables and the relationships. Now I have four tables. How do I create a form, that does not automatically update a table, but only saves once I hit a save button. Do the input fields have to be unbound? And with code on the save button to update the table? What's the code that does that? Like On_Click of the button, to grab all the input field data of the form, and store them into the fields of a table.. thanks

    Is it a PSU issue?

well, we ordered a new DVDRW and new SATA cable to make sure. At the moment the systems works fine without the DVDRW connected. So if it is the cable, or the DVDRW, we will see. If the new one causes the same problems, then I will check the jumpers for SATA2 or 3. thanks everyone and HAPPY NEW YEAR to all :) I will post the results in a few days when the parts come in.

    Is it a PSU issue?

OK, My friend mentioned that the system would boot when he opened the DVD RW tray on startup. So I unplugged the DVD drive and the system boots fine. Will keep it on for a while. Maybe run a few games and see how it goes. It's an LG dvd drive. EDIT: Well I ran the system for a while and all seems to work fine without the DVDRW on. So I guess I should order a replacement. Might get an ASUS DVDRW to go with the ASUS mobo. Could it really just be the DVDRW causing all this?

Here is the blue screen message: A problem has been detected and windows has been shut down to prevent damage to your computer. I this is the first time you've seen this stop error screen, restart your computer. If this screen appears again, follow these steps: Check to be sure you have adequate disk space. If a driver is identified in the stop message, disable the river or check with the manufacturer for driver updates. Try changing video adapters. Check with your hardware vendor for any BIOS updates. Disable BIOS memory options such as caching or shadowing. If you need to use Safe Mode to remove or disable components, restart your compute, press F8 to select Advanced Startup Options, and then select Safe Mode. Is it a PSU issue?

It is the Phenom II X4 965 at 3.4, and I do have the latest BIOS installed. v.2102 EDIT: Just got into BIOS to check the version, and once exited it hangs there. Power is on, but does not restart the system as per normal. Nothing on the screen the the tower has full power :(

    Is it a PSU issue?

OK here are the specs I can see without powering up the system (can't at the moment as I took it home and need to hook it up on my monitor and components) CPU: AMD 4 core. (will check exactly once I power on the system) PSU: Tagan BZ series 700W HDD: OCZ Agility3 2.5" SSD and WD 1TB Sata RAM: Corsair XMS3 8GB Mobo: ASUS M4A79XTD EVO GPU: Sapphire Radeon HD5770 or I can use the Sapphire HD6570 (which has 4GB ram on it but no power cable needed. I think the 5770 looks more of a beast) all inside a CoolerMaster Haf full tower

    Is it a PSU issue?

OK. I will check BIOS versions and see if the update fixes things. Can I disable USB3 support on the motherboard? I will give you the full specs too. So the slow startup of all fans can also be mobo related?
  9. Hi all atomicans, now there is this PC which is not connected to the internet. It as a MSI V-Class mobo, MS-7536 v1.0. (BIOS has not been updated.) P4 3GHz CPU with 1G RAM DDR2. OK, they called me up to check it out because recently it has been shuting down on them. So I went there, I reset the BIOS to safe defaults, I made win XP not shutdown during failure and it still shuts down. The strange thing is that when it shuts down, the HDD light remains ON for 20-30 secs and then powers off. So it does not power off completely at once. Don't think that there is a temperature issue. So I check the power supply with this Thermalate tool I have, where you connect the power cables and gives you the green light for all the different volt cables. All OK. Then I do a MEMTEST and no errors with the RAM. Changed the RAM slot. I took out the battery off the mobo, and checked the volts on it. Got 3.5V so the 3V battery is OK. Did a simple HDD test (Hiren's boot cd tools) So there is nothing else that comes to mind. Don't know if there is anything else I could check. I thought about a BIOS update, but the PC never had internet and it worked fine all this time with this BIOS version. Nothing changed on the machine in order to make me think of the need for a BIOS flash. The only thing that worries me is that a couple of motherboard transistors(capacitors might be the right word) show a slight swelling/bulging. So the mobo could be failing. How can we test the mobo? This person needs to pin point the exact hardware that causes these shutdowns as he does not have the money to spend on a new PC just now. Well any thoughts will be appreciated. Any ideas? How do we test a mobo? thanks
  10. Yes, mobo failing and need of a new PSU. (I should get a better PSU tester and mobo tester) Looks like building a new system is the way to go. This P4 is old and cheap enough we can build a simple system. All this person does is use word for documents. Not even internet. thank you all for your replies.
  11. No, I do not have another PSU tester. Not in Australia right now, will be next week and I'll look for one. No time to order one either (flying back in a few days). Can you recomend a tester? I have a volt meter. No wrong, I got the 4digit analyser tester... forgot about that. Should check it out. :/
  12. so I should try to run say Linux off a live CD for a while and see if that runs fine with no shutdowns. If does not shutdown then it needs a re-format and re-install windows. Or the HDD might be the problem. so there is no tool that actually tests the mobo right? So we test everything else and if that fails then it is the mobo?
  13. Checked for dust. (My first thought was the dust for heating issues) All clean. Shut downs occur after windows load. Sometimes a minute in, or a few second after windows load.
  14. Hi all, I have not looked into upgrades or new builds in a while so I've kind of lost track on latest hardware reviews and building new systems. I want to build a new tower for my brother and looking to spend around 600euro which is around 700 australian dollars. So the questions I have and need advice on are: a) Do I go for a quad core or an eight core processor? - Not sure if there are any issues with windows 7 and games using all four/eight cores. - Go for AMD (always had AMD) to save money? Go for an i5 or i7? (i7 seem too expansive and not sure if needed for a gaming system or if they are more for high end rendering) - Can get an 8 core AMD but is it worth it? Is a quad core Intel better? b) Do I go for a single video card or a crossfire build? - I always had a single video card, and always ATI cards. My thought is that there were issues with crossfire and would rather avoid issues. Also I always thought that dual core cards should be comming out which will be better than using two cards. - A good single card sometimes seems better than a crossfire setting. (Am I wrong? Also requires a smaller PSU) c) I always thought that first look for an ASUS mobo and then Gigabyte was the way to go. Am I right? Should I get an SSD to boost performance? This is going to be a gaming system, and any advice on parts I should look for is more than welcome. I have an old Cooler Master Stacker full tower case which I might use, but if we can fit a good tower for cooling at a nice price, I could get it. This is a build I got from a magazine: CPU: Intel Core i5-3570K Mobo: Gigabyte Z68A-D3H-B3 Graphics: Gigabyte Radeon HD 7770 1GB RAM: Corsair Vengeance 8GB 1.600MHz kit PSU: Cooler Master GX 650W thanks in advance. any advice is appreciated :)
  15. Thank you both. I got the answers I needed, and I got my build ready :) Will try and locate the parts here and post the final build. Looks like I'm getting the i5 (even though I am an AMD fan) EDIT: parts are more expensive here :(
  16. thanks for the reply. this is why I needed advice. I would have never thought of ASRock. I would of gone for an ASUS. Yeah I regarded Gigabyte second in the list after ASUS and then the rest like MSI etc. For graphics I like Saphire :) only cause my old Saphire ATI lasted for ages. Never had an ATI fail on me. So overclocking is a thought. I never overclock. Never done it. Cause I always thought that overclocking takes away life off the hardware. Things must have changed now and overclocking is simple. This CPU AMD FX 8150 (AM3+ , 3,6 GHz , 16 MB) is in the same price range as the Intel Core i5-3570K but its an 8 core cpu.
  17. High, don't know if anyone remembers, or can help me. I used to enter a command in the console that displayed the current position of where I was standing. With this position coordinates I could easily create new locations to place the radio for a Headquarters map. Been looking everywhere with no luck. Anyone remember what the command is? To display the current position coordinates? maybe its the same with new call of duty games. Not sure. Does the console grow bigger? Maybe it displays the info there? thanks atomicans

Call of Duty 2 - Console command for coordinates?

Thanks, that helped me cause the /viewpos command was the one I was looking for, but it only displays the results in the extended console view. thanks
  19. Hi, it has been a while since I built a system and looked into things. Just a quick question to clear something out. Is it better to go for a 6 core CPU or and 4 core. I notice that intel has expensive 4 core cpus (i7 960) which are triple channel. Are they much better than the AMD 6 core? Are all AMDs twin channel? Is there much difference in perfomance? AMD Phenom X6 1100T BE (sAM3/3,3Ghz) vs Intel Core i7 960(1366, 3,2 GHz, 8 MB L3 Cache, Box) What should I be looking for? More cores? Triple channel? What's better for the long run?
  20. It's for gaming, I never look into overclocking. It something I never do. Always thought that I reduce the CPU or GPU life by overclocking them. From what I'm reading the i7 has 8 threads, which makes it good for high end video editing, 3D editing and Photo editing applications. Does this mean that it will be better for gaming? Getting confused after reading this http://www.brighthub.com/computing/hardwar...cles/65861.aspx and this: Intel Core i7 2600 (s1155, 3,40GHz, 8MB) is a 32 nm just like the i5s. Must be new
  21. How about this setup? GPU: Sapphire 6970 (PCI-Express, GDDR5, 2GB) HDD: Western Digital Caviar Green WD5000AADS 500GB HDD 3.5" (Cache 32MB, IntelliPower, SATA 3Gb/s PSU: Corsair Gaming Series GS600 600W PSU 80+ Certified (CMPSU-600GEU) CPU: Intel Core i7 960(1366, 3,2 GHz, 8 MB L3 Cache, Box) RAM: Corsair XMS3 6GB DDR3-2000 Kit MOBO: Gigabyte GA-X58A-UD7 (s1366, DDR3, X58)
  22. I thought i7 are better than i5. Not only because the model number is one up, but I thought the i7s are high end. I didn't even look at the i5s as I was looking for parts to build my system with. From what I see, you get more GHz out of the i7 CPUs.
  23. Hi, I will be making a motherboard swap tomorrow. A mobo is dead after a thunderstorm. I was wondering if I can avoid a re-format. The HDD should be ok. Could not test it since the mobo is dead. PSU is ok. Anyway, do I have to re-format and re-install windows and all after the mobo swap? Or should it be ok to just fire up windows from the hdd and install new mobo drivers? I think that a format is necessary, but I was wondering if it can be avoided as it has programs that are needed and a backup has not been made. PS: not my PC. If it was mine I would just format it. It's someones system that he uses for his business, and he has software running that should be kept untouched. thanks for any thoughts and advice :)
  24. Wouldn't this make those programs unuseable? And doesn't Windows always formats the drive. Quick or slow format?
  25. OK, I swaped the dead mobo with the new one. Turn it on, I get windows xp halt at loading. Tried safe mode, also halts. Tried the repair install, but the windows installation does not show up. When I hit ENTER then F8 to except the MS Aggrement, then it searches for windows installations but windows does not show up. Just a Partition. When I do repair from console, I get C:/Windows show up, hit 1 and asks for Admin password. So it does find the installed winXP. Why doesn't it show up when I want to do a repair install? Any thoughts? Any other way to fix this? I do habe Hiren's Boot CD aswell. Did a HDD test and all OK.
