  1. My laptop is running Windows 8.1 and it seems that when I select compatibility mode's "Run in 640x480 Resolution" option, the computer doesn't comply. There's no 640x480 mode in the general display options, either. I think the lowest one there is 1024x768. Does anyone know of a way to force the computer to set it's resolution to 640x480? (Ideally without having to boot into safe mode. Does Win8.1 even still have that?) I'm convinced that getting 640x480 resolution is key to solving a problem I'm having with an old game I'm trying to get to work on this new PC.
