Pioneer Display Panels - The End

Recommended Posts

Fresh from the mouth of God.

Some of you may have an interest in the Home Theater and AV market, you may also know may electronic firms are loosing Billions of dollars.

NEC recently withdrawing from the consumer electronics market was a huge shock.

Now Pioneer will cease production of their entire TV range.

Rumors spread that Panasonic would take over production of Pioneers panels, but Japan has said no. Pioneer will now focus on audio, blu-ray and in-car entertainment.

The question is, what other mighty companies will withdraw from the panel production industry?

Recent global trends have forced every company to increase retail prices, so for now kiss cheap electronics prices goodbye.

I though pio just diced on on the Plasma market not TV entirely. Although when you make amazing 6K panels and for 2K - 4K you can get one that is pretty badass it does make sense to stop.

Yeah well alot of small retail shops don't find these things out till we ring our reps.

Plus we wern't huge stockists anyway, so way down the chain of info.

I can see now I shouldn't bother posting.

I knew they were going thru some changes to the Display line up since mid-late last year, but this is drastic.

I was going to line up one of the new models early this year to.

Might have to make those funds appear faster than i expected.

its a sad day. they made a few panels there were really up there. Back when i was in SG, i remember spending my weekends up in Adelphi, looking at those high quality panels. Now I fear not being able to find one. As i suspect, some series are going to be sold at a premium.

I like my Pioneer car stereo. And I'm looking forward to some more specialisation from consumer electronics companies - it's finally come to the point where having a finger in EVERY pie is turning out to be not quite such a good idea, so hopefully more companies will refocus on what they're actually good at.

Yes you will find many companies going back to basics and product specialization, a for the better I think. Well i'm selling heaps more two channel audio which equals a lot less problems.

Very interesting, I've been telling customers (a few months ago mind you) that Panasonic was possibly taking over production...

Didn't really see THIS coming though, kind of sad!

I just picked up a kuro PDPLX509A for 5k :D from Harvey Norman!

http://www.pioneer.com.au/Products/Home%20.../PDPLX509A.aspx

So if you have the cash to splash they are coming down on price's in a big way!

It's getting delivered on Saturday, I can wait to set it up and give it a go over with a Blu-ray disk!!

Gosh that's is still kinda pricey for a 50" plasma but you cant compare on build quality or image quality. I'm hoping that the kuro technology that Panasonic are implementing on their new displays will take them close.
