MEDIC!

Recommended Posts

So my mate just got back from a friends house, and shes been very sick, coughing, not moving much, wouldnt drink etc.

Now shes been admitted to hospital where shes concious, eyes open, yet unresponsive.

Docs say they cant be certain what it is yet. One of our paramedic mates suggest it may be Sepsis (blood poisoning) or pneumonia, as it started as a bad chest and nasty cough.

Shes in the hospital now, so nothing we can do, but i thought id as the few ambulance workers and verious types of medic we have on here if they have any other ideas.

Cheers all.

Scythe.

She's in the hands of medical experts. She's got a better chance there then anywhere else :)

I'm sure they'll look after her!

I could pray for her if you like though ?

pray its not infectious. lol

nah, as i said, shes in the hands of experts, but that doesnt stop us wondering WTF it is.

As professionals, they dont list 5 different tings it MIGHT be, thy wait for a diagnosis. As such, we wanna know what it COULD be while they wait to tell us for certain.

So sorry to hear that MScythe, no idea what it might be, but as Lielthr said, she's in the right place.

Wishing her a speedy recovery.

Yeah, I think the problem is that there's so many conditions that have similar symptoms, my friend has been sick for months

and has seen specialist after specialist after specialist and has only just recently been diagnosed... It's crazy... nearly every specialist she went to told her she was pregnant yet the condition she had was textbook to the symptoms she was presenting... and its definitely not pregnancy. Haha!

+1 Robzy (and thank you ) Definitely wishing her a speedy recovery!

As for what she could have I have NFI but it doesn't sound like anything they can't Handle :) maybe its just a bit of severe food poisoning, if so she'll be sick for a day or two then start to pick back up again :)

There's an awful lot of whooping cough going around. It doesn't present itself with the whooping noise in adults quite like it does children. I only recently learned that adults (especially those planning a family) should get a booster of the triple antigen.

That said, I am not a doctor and that is not a diagnosis.

Type B Lupus Pneumonic Leukaemia. My aunt had it and she exhibited the exact same symptoms, right down to the BP, pulse rate, and blood sugar level.

She's dead now.

yeah, the fact shes awake, yet not breathing by herself, nor responding to stimulii is odd.

the only thing they can think of is blood poisoning from leaving a chest infection untreated. but they wont say for certain yet.

Are reflexes present and if so to what degree? 1 of Many possibilities is (dictionary not present) developing Gwillium-Barre syndrome.

Wow that sounds serious. I hope all goes well ASAP.

A cousin of mine went to hospital with extreme lethargy (he could barely move) and huge sores all over his legs.

The docs gave him hundreds of tests and tested family members and his gf ad nauseum and couldn't find a thing wrong with him. After 3 months in hospital, he got better by himself and was discharged. :-/ Odd, but ended well.

Alright first, medium level Brain Infection?

Give that one a few minutes.

Ok. How does a chest infection spread to you brain? Was her blood-brain barrier busy taking a dump? Did someone cough into an open wound in her skull?

Seriously, Brain Infection?

Edit: Further discussion has revealed that the only molecule that can give you a brain infection is known as a prion which makes it's way into your system when you EAT OTHER PEOPLE'S BRAINS. So apparently your friend is a brain zombie. How's that going for y'all?

Second Edit: Or beef from cows with MCD. That does it too.
