The S101 will follow the after the N10....

I think you misinterpreted what I meant. The EEEPC branding is not dead, the current models are. EEEPC901/900/1000H/1000HD are EOL.

Sorry dude, you're right. I wouldn't be buying an EEE right now :)

The N10 and S101 look like sexy machines though.

When i'm not using it for work, mine is constantly getting hijacked... >_>

By your concubine?

They only cost like $500 don't they? tell her to stop being so cheap and to buy one herself! :P

true, but i dont think she'd really get the value out of it. she's just sitting in bed/another room using it online.

plus, i've got a lappy here (that is tied to the desk atm) that while it only gets an hour of battery life @ most, she can still plug it in to mains when she's chilling.

I'm thinking of getting a wireless mouse for mine as well because the touchpad (actually touchpads in general) on my 900 is way oversensitive and well, to be quite frank, it shits me to tears like I've never been shat to tears in my life.

I wouldn't mind trying a different OS from Ubuntu eee as well. Has anyone here successfully installed Open Solaris on to their eeePC? I've been trying to get the USB installer setup but aren't having much luck.

Currently have the 701, but looking at upgrading it. The extra res, screen size, storage and processor speed of the 1000H is tempting, especially seeing my keyboard is stuffed after I spilt a can of coke on my current one.

Think I'll have to go to JB and see what price I can pick one up for.

how has that 8800 mAh battery treated you?

and does the acpi driver let you use the fn keys for audio?

I have the first gen 7" 8Gig model. It's purpose is as a doc reader, compiler and browser. I find no need to mod it in any way. :-)

I am still waiting for my battery.

But the ACPI issue doesn't worry me, as I am using a different mini app to turn up audio.

Battery showed up, I get about 8 - 9.5 hours on full charge.

Also, instead of the above link, see http://gekko.me/acpi.php for a real ACPI fix for Vista.

Got a Linux 901, dropped on Debian, got the boot time down to 17 seconds with a few simple tweaks. I might give it a bit more of a going over tonight with the aim of having it boot in around 10-15 seconds.

Pretty happy with the performance and battery life. The only bad point is the average quality of the ralink supplied wlan driver although the kernel developers are currently working on adding support to the existing rt2x00 driver.

lunchboxx1988: I drop back in and check out this thread every couple of days. Any chance of maybe adding an OS section to the poll & updating it as people add new OSes in their posts?

Thanks Lunchbox1988.

Well, 100% of us use Ubuntu eee. I wonder who posted that vote.

:-)

Hmm seems you can't vote for OS if you already voted for the model...

Oh and where is Debian? There is a rather healthy Debian subproject dedicated to the eee.

Is there any one running eeebuntu?

I want to try it out but I don't know if tethering with a JasJam windows mobile(USB and Bluetooth) will work with it.

Any one able to fill me in?
