PC RPG Mods

Oooh yeah, when i put all the textures/distance mods on Oblivion starts to drop below 30fps!

I think its more to do with engine optimisation though.

once you start putting mods on the slows to crawl....

i cant wait till TES: 5 comes out! think about the strain mods will have on PC's then!

Fallout New Vegas HD Texture installer

http://www.newvegasnexus.com/downloads/file.php?id=35645

This script will install NMC's Fallout 3 HD textures in to your New Vegas. To see screen shot comparisons go to NMC's HD Texture package page.

Note: This mod is only a small script; it does not contain any of NMCs textures, it only transfers the textures actually needed from his texture packs.

I had a look at this mod, I decided to stay away, as it will be mixing high and low textures in places where some weren't replaced, I'd find it annoying as hell :P

I want to wait for a real high def mod.

My list of must-have NV mods

4Gb Large Address fix

Use inplace of fallout exe, this allows game to use 4+Gb and reduces stuttering too (launch from this not fomm)

http://newvegasnexus.com/downloads/file.php?id=35262

IIWR - Invisible barrier remover

Removes all the invisible barriers on hills and shit, not game breaking btw,

http://newvegasnexus.com/downloads/file.php?id=35011

MTUI

Fixes the consolitis of convo menus and such for PC

http://newvegasnexus.com/downloads/file.php?id=34902

Inventory Sorter

Sorts loose items into proper categories, makes life in the pip-boy SO much better

http://newvegasnexus.com/downloads/file.php?id=34950

Enhanced Blood Textures

Pretty self explanatory, lots of blood in this game, might as well look good.

http://newvegasnexus.com/downloads/file.php?id=34917

Working FOMM for NV

Mod manager ftw, no more messing with archive invalidation stuff, just click of a button

http://newvegasnexus.com/downloads/file.php?id=36901

DoF Complete

Best Depth of Field mod, Fallout should have this already, I love it

http://newvegasnexus.com/downloads/file.php?id=35589

Better Game Performance

Basically removes behind the scenes clutter for better framerate, without taking visuals away.

Woo hoo! I haven't been playing RPGs much - busy life, I've been enjoying the fast food-like playability of downloadable games on PSN and completely forgotten the labour involved in modding. If you guys can vouch for these mods though, I'll add them to OP after work today.

Can vouch for the MTUI mod. Makes Fallout NV a lot easier to read. Avoids making it look like a console.

Was almost the first thing I did for Fallout3 aswell, game is so damn annoying with gigantic bloated text

Apologies for the bump however given the talk about about Skyrim, Diablo 3, Dragon Age 2 going on - I strongly feel that this thread would be convenient to have floating around the top of the boards again and theres a chance that someone hasnt seen it or forgotten about it.

I personally will be reviewing the Morrowind / Oblivion mods and stuff so that I can get a TES fix to help pass the time while waiting for Skyrim. Im sure I'm not the only one who plans to play some older titles to curb the wait for the next sequel!

And will also repeat my earlier post about making Kung Fu Hung Su a hero. The fact he is not one is mind boggling and an insult to boot!

Well, billions of blistering blue barnacles o_O hahahahahha

I will probably find myself updating this thread again. I've just started uni life again, and I've joined two different videogame clubs here, so I'll surely be gaming a bit in between reading research papers.

I will need assistance though. I don't own Dragon Age, and I'm aware that the modding scene of Dragon Age is quite significant. I'll surely be requiring help on future titles as well - limited funds as a poor uni student will make sure I don't buy very much. However I do have unlimited downloads of legal content at uni, and videogame mods are perfectly legal x)

I've been here for several years now, and I still have absolutely no idea what makes someone on atomic a hero. I'm not really bothered or insulted that i'm not a hero, but i'm honored to know people think I deserve it. x)

See if I can find one for Fallout 1...worst comes to worst I might upload one from my computer.

Out of luck. I only have the Fallout 2 patch on my computer and i don't see a mirror. =/

I'm most curious......

Does anyone on this board play games with mods anymore? I've been playing Diablo 2 with Median XL of late, and just wonder if anyone else has been having any modding adventures as well.

'Fraid I haven't played any moddable games for months. The desktop went U/S with some glitch (probably heat or a loose connector) just after the beginning of winter, and I've been to slack to fix it. Been using the laptop in the warm rooms instead. :P

Where's Hung-Su these days, anyway? Haven't seen him in yonks.

Edit: And so saying... I m an idiot. :P

Glad to see some familiar faces =] Just FYI as well dasa - modding for Doom 3 is still very active also.

I've been working and building a new life of sorts down in Melbourne =] (Canberra previously!) Now that I'm relatively settled here I can put some more time into the ole modding scene again =]

hehehe...I don't think I've been disappointed by a Bethesda game yet, and certainly not one of the Elder Scrolls games. And now we'll finally have freakin DRAGONS!! =D

Its still hard to play, graphical mods do make it look better, however getting proper compatibility is hard. For example, I had mine looking mint as, but found that in some areas the new trees and stuff were blocking entrances etc. Really ruined it for me.

That first links been a bit helpful - got some nice textures and stuff. Played for a bit, then died and had forgotten to save ti. So I stopped.

Which mods did you try? =] An all in one pack might be your bag if modding is new to you. http://www.moddb.com/mods/morrowind-rebirth/images

Pretty much everyone mentioned in that first link for morrowind on the first page. the step by step guide. Few issues with it all. might start again with it. Your link seems interesting also

Modding morrowind is HIGHLY error prone, especially if you haven't acquired a sense for how mods can fail to work together. Glad your stubborn, kinda need that with morrowind modding x)
