changing IP on belkin model/router

Recommended Posts

I have the Belkin F5D9630 and want to change the IP address to 192.168.1.3

However, when i go to the LAN settings, and change the address, when the browser resets, I am able to access the modem at all.

All I want to do is, extend my ports and wifi to the upper floor of the house. Is there something I have overlooked?

My settings are as follows

WL600G - dsl-router (192.168.1.1) - Handles all my net, etc

Netgear WGR613VAL - acts as a wifi entender

I tried to follow the instructions here http://forums.atomicmpc.com.au/index.php?s...post&p=9602 but to no avail.

Having real trouble finding any info on the Netgear WGR613VAL. All I seem to come up with is references to locked ones provide by companies like MyNetFone.

How are you trying to use the F5D9630 for? It is a modem router so I think you are asking for trouble trying to integrate that in to your existing network.

Give some more info on what you are trying to do, we are not mindreaders.

Oh and which version is it 1, 2, 3 or 4?

make sure that when you change the ip address in the router and you hit apply, that you manually change the ip address in the address bar to reflect the new ip of the router.

depending on how your network settings are set up, you may also need to change your ip address to fall within the same range as the router has now been changed to.

Eg:

router address is 192.168.2.1

pc address is 10.0.0.15

change pc address to 192.168.2.15

log into router

change router address to 10.0.0.1, hit apply.

web interface reloads with the address: http://192.168.2.1/postapply.htm (just an example, i haven't done mine in a while).

change that address to reflect the new ip address: http://10.0.0.1/postapply.htm (or just simply http://10.0.0.1 will do).

change pc address back to 10.0.0.15

hit refresh on browser with web interface.

you should now see the router again.

if that doesn't work, i'd double check your steps to make sure you've done it right and are applying the correct details, double check the details on your local machine, possibly connect directly to the router with nothing else on the network and see if you can ping it, then access it.

if this still doesn't work, look to see if theres an updated firmware for your router, its possible there is something wrong with it.

Netgear WGR613VAL = wifi router + VoIP (all in one)

intention of the F5D9630 = router + wifi (upper floor of the house)

Not sure what you mean on version. I assume it is v1.

Thanks Juggalo Scrub for your instructions. All is good now :D. Finally got things working.
