Hello i am currently with Exetel for $65 i 8mbit, 12Gb peak and 24Gb offpeak

I am looking to change providers

Dont want to spend more than $70-$80 a month has to be 8mbit(cant get adsl2 where i am).

I would also prefer not to have peak and off peak becuase my computer is always off at 10pm each night. cant leave it going because i sleep next to it and is to loud.

What ISP are you guys with and could you guys recommned a good ISP, that doesn't have many drop-outs and stuff like that.

Also i hear Exetel is banning P2P and that is where all my downloads go.

Was looking at node but a bit to expensive

EDIT: Found http://www.tpg.com.au/products_services/ad...ricing.php#adsl

Ultimate Premium Plus 8000/50GB $99.95 50GB2 - a bit expensive for only 50gb

also found some ADSL2+ plans http://www.tpg.com.au/products_services/ad...lus_pricing.php

Super Fast Heavy /110GB $69.99 110GB (50GB+60GB)

would i be able to sign up for adsl2+ but i would only still get 8mbit instead of adsl2+ which wouldn't worry me

Gah Bigpond? and even worse dodo? why are they on the list.

Exetel is having bandwidth problems or something now so I wouldn't consider them.

Between TPG or Node I prefer node for awesome phone support at the expense of less downloads however they have heaps of games servers and mirror more than 5600gb of files, TPG gives you more downloads though although you have bloody offpeak on peak times where as node says use it whenever you want.

I go and see my good old friend uncle Torrence because i hear he has good movies and game. So unmetered downloads are kinda useless to me.......

But Dodo kept on billing my friend even he disconnected the Dodo net connection for another ISP.

Took a while to put a stop to that.

I use Locall Australis 1500kbps 30/10GB plan. It's $60 a month, I think the same plan at 8000kbps is $90, which is $10 more the the TPG 25/25GB plan.

But Australis have contract/no contract options, last I looked TPG didn't and I have commitment issues. :-)

Cant beat Exetel on price for the amount of downloads you get.

I am not recommending Exetel here BTW, just giving a factual statement (and please prove me wrong! I would be happy to change to a better value ISP)

as far as bandwidth problems:

head over to John Linton's blog:

http://johnl.blogs.exetel.com.au/

quote from blog

"So, the current change to 10 hours (off peek) has instantly fixed the problem caused by 1,000 users if the results of the first four nights of the new scenario is to continue. We will make some slight adjustments over the balance of August to attempt to get the maximum improvements from the new times and then I'm going on holidays for a few weeks. We will track the results throughout September and if the current results continue we will have, finally, solved the problem that has proved to be impossible for the past five or so years."

I use Internode and on the whole very happy with their service. Only on a 1500/256 plan as that is about the limit of my phone line.

If you like teh torrents then on all plans except easy broadband Internode currently do not count uploads at all. Plus you also have access to Usenet included in the plan prices. Data does count to your downloads though.

You can only sign up for ADSL 2 or 2+ if the exchange is actually enabled for that speed (vast majority are).

If you don't mind me masking what exchange are you on?

Or put your phone number in here

http://www.adsl2exchanges.com.au/ or even try various ISPs coverage checkers.

EG

https://secure.internode.on.net/webtools/in...node-dsl-finder

With Internode you can also buy extra data blocks for

2 Gigabytes $5

4 Gigabytes $10

10 Gigabytes $15

20 Gigabytes $30

40 Gigabytes $60

60 Gigabytes $90

if you need to top up your monthly amount.

Although note that if you buy a data block after going over your monthly limit, the purchased data will first be applied to any excess data you have already used. This stops the rorters of the system.

I've been with Eftel for about 5 years, and 2 of them with EGN.

they may be a little more expensive than some of the other companies but i have found the connection quite stable with very minimal dropouts, if any.,

I have the EGN Elite Plus and am quite happy with it.

edit: Unfortunately they have peak/offpeak...

Goonellabah NSW 2480

went to http://www.adsl2exchanges.com.au/ ADSL2+ is enabled for telstra but went to tpg and they said its not

Well Internode reckon

Internode Easy Broadband Available?

YES

Extreme® ADSL2+ Available?

Not Yet

NakedExtreme ADSL2+ Available?

Not Yet

NakedUltra ADSL2+ Available?

Not Yet

Internode UltraLine Available?

Not Yet

ADSL Standard and ADSL Plus Available?

YES

ADSL TwoPlus Available?

YES

So Telstra have enabled 2+ on the exchange and you can get Internodes twoplus plans which use the Telstra DSLAMs. You cannot get TPG ADSL2+ as they do not have a DSLAM in the exchange and they do not appear to resell Telstra ADSL 2+.

In fact according to ADSL2exchanges the only DSLAM in the exchange is a Telstra one so if you want 2+ speeds you need to go with a provider that resells Telstra ADSL 2+.

For ADSL up to 8 mbit you have a much wider choice of ISPs as most resell ADSL on Telstra hardware.

Been with Internode for years. Can't fault them. Very solid ISP. Just changed from 1500/256, 15GB, $54.95 (uploads not counted) to 1500/256, 30GB, $49.95 (uploads counted), since I averaged only 13GB down/up for the last 6 months.

They're apparently revising all their plans next month, so look out for improvements on their already decent offering.

Just singed up to internode, they've got some pretty cool unmetered content like streaming radio stations and you can watch ABC TV for free too
