The Rise of Atheism: 2010 Atheist Global Convention

Recommended Posts

Atheists.

lol.

Need to organise a protest by agnostics, picketing out the front.

Also, it's nice to see that they're clearly not at all acting like a religion.

People meeting in a large place to discuss topics is a religion? News to me :P

Having been to an evangelical summit packed full of raving lunatics hellbent on world domination who can't handle other people believing in something other than what they do in the past, I have no wish to attend any more.

And Dawkins is a douche.

Most likely, although I really don't want to sit in on a religious bitch-fest.

Also, perhaps some sea otter costumes are in order.

It's a call for attendance - nothing wrong with that - they're as entitled to as are religions :P

I don't really see the need for a convention...

What is there to discuss?

There may be some interesting talks...but it is a stance people have in common...nothing new or groundbreaking.....

It does just seem to be a huge anti-religious fest....

Lots of people meeting to express their disbelief in God.

I'll pass.

I can do that here on Atomic without the cost of airfares.

And if I wand douchebags, all I have to do is go on to youtube and tickle Peter Sinclair.

I could think of quite a few things. It would be nice to have some lectures and debates. Maybe a forum on ways to counterract the various negative impacts of religion, like preventing the use of condoms in Africa, & ways to dismantle extortionist cults such as Scientology and Hillsong.

I don't think that stuff should be under the guise of Atheism.

I think Atheism is just a stance. It shouldn't be the launching pad to attack organized religion.

Funnily enough, all aspects of religion aren't necessarily bad. One of the biggest things religious communities have going for them is that they regularly meet and discuss issues facing them as a group.

It sure is terrible to see this evil practice spreading, huh. That the irreligious may come together to spur some action on some of their common goals just isn't fair, right?

Having that many Atheists in one place can only be a Good Thing - means that God will only need one lightning bolt to get the lot...

Gonna be a bit crowded in Hell for a while though... ;-)

(Note - to the humour impaired... I'M JOKING!)

I think you're reading a little too much into what I wrote.
