Good info in this thread. My credit card is about to expire, but once I get the new one i'll be sure to contact steam support and see if I can get that 'lock' removed on my account.

Income is income, I doubt they really care how they get money and I bet you that region price difference goes into like Activisions pocket not Valves.

mudg3, there's no need for sarcastic vilification. If you don't like what someone says, ignore it.

bushi, don't call people idiots.

I was planning to faq-slap you, but turns out they edited all the cool shit out of the faq about "hanging shit on idiots"

I ended buying Borderlands 1 week after release from ebay for $20, best buy ever.

Although I just picked up Mass Effect and Mass Effect 2 for $40!

awesome!!

Looks like the publishers have bumped up the prices for us Aussies once again.

Battlefield: Bad Company 2 is now US$69.99 (Still US$49.99 on the US Store)

Dawn of War II: Chaos Rising is now US$39.99 (Still US$29.99 on the US Store)

Something really has to be done about this bullshit - glad I pre-ordered both before these price hikes.

If you update to the new UI beta, supreme commander 2 is available to buy for US$44.99. Who knows what the price will be when its released in Aus, but i took the risk and bought it.

Steam support probably happens in India and they're using canned responses to the issue.

It's easier to deal with the exceptions than argue with the customers.

Steam still gets paid either way.

It'd only really be an issue if suddenly *hundreds* of people started pulling the same stunt.

It won't ever be an issue. There's no legal reason for them to deny you.

Steam doesn't support PayPal yet, does it. Hmm

its easier with a visa card though, pay pal you have to wait for money to go back and forth between accounts.

you can link a CC to paypal acct, transfers are instant then

also, good point/s neowulf

Thankfully I had mine pre-ordered before the price hike too, but if you want to get all conspiracy theorist on it, DoW2:CR had it's price hike in every region outside of the US on the exact same day they let the rest of the world get the wargear bonus from per-ordering from the THQ eshop...

Yeah I am glad I pre-ordered DoW2CR from THQ directly - Chaos Rising + Wargear + Saints Row 2 = US$29.99 = WIN
