Flash CS3 with an external .AS file?

Recommended Posts

I wasn't sure which section to put this in, but this seemed the most appropriate. I want to use an external .as file in Flash, but I can't seem to get it to work. This is ActionScript 3

I believe I have to use the import statement. I have a myfile.as file that just contains "trace("hello world");" in the same directory as my .fla. On the first frame of my Fla, I have 'import "myfile.as";'

I thought it was like C or PHP where you include a file. Perhaps it's more like Java (I think) where you have to import a class, rather than a file? Any help would be appreciated, the Adobe docs aren't very clear about this :(
