more ram. with just a single stick you will only be running in single chanel, not good. streach for another stick mate it'll easily be worth it.

I would personally go for a bigger case, and more RAM.

Why are you going down the Intel route if you're building a PC to a tight budget? Phenoms are better bang for buck compared with an i5...

You're much better off going down the AMD road imo...

2GB RAM? nobody should run without 3+

looks pretty good for a lowish budget build better than my setup.

question:

is it better to have 1x 2GB stick or 2x !GB stick of ram? the post above mentions getting 2 sticks.

dont mean to hijack the topic just a quick question

couple of MAJOR changes needed here:

Antec Two Hundred Tower Gaming Case

Fine.

INTEL CORE i5 750 2.66GHz 8MB#

Fine

ASUS P7P55D EVO DESKTOP MAINBOARD #

Fine (glad you didnt go gigabyte, IMO they're still having some Quality Controll issues)

Kingston 2GB 1333MHz

Fine (though im more a fan of Kingston or G.Skill)

WD CAVIAR GREEN 1.0TB 7200/64MB/SATA2

THIS is your BIGGEST PROBLEM.

WD GREEN drives are terrible. they use less power yes, but they get just as hot, they are very slow, and they're generally pretty loud for a 'slow drive'. What you want is a Samsung Silencer series drive. Cheaper, more reliable (according to various wide surveys), dont suffer nearly as much from the 'slow down' caused by low power drives, and are literally silent. im running 4 of them in my house and 2 WD Greens, the greens are HOT and SLOW where the silencers are nothing but a dream come true.

550W "Gigabyte" Superb Power Supply

a brand name powersupply is pretty much always needed, something from Antec, Seasonic, Corsair and a few others is worth considering.

XFX PCIe HD4890 1GB HDMI

I'd be getting something from the HD5*** range. DirectX 11 support. it may not be needed now but its a nice feature and the cards arent that different in price.
