Dual channel vS Single channel

Recommended Posts

OK basicly in the OC thread ive been having an issue where my 1066 corsair dominator ram wouldnt run above 900.... so yeah anyways ive played with it

and found that if i run the ram in A1 A2 single channel mode instead of A1 B2 dual channel mode, the ram has no problem running @ 1066 infact i have it

running @ 1100 at the moment for a slight voltage increase. So my question is...

am i better off running my ram @ 800 dual channel

or am i better off running my ram @ 1100 single channel

Im not sure which would yield better results, run some benchmarks.

As for the 'vs'

Dual channel technically can double the memory throghput. Under the right circumstances.

in real llfe, it usually adds a single digit percentage to your benchmark, IF THAT.

Run some things and find out.

What CPU do you have, and how much have you overclocked it?

I imagine both options are going to be comparable, but the higher clock speed for the RAM may be of value if you're pushing for a healthy CPU overclock.

Agreed for sure, I ran a test, less than 2% difference with Dual/Single for Me anyways...

I think older pc's on dual channel would benefit greatly '+10-15%, but not anything past Pentium4 days... 'D' Included.
