highest stable overclock for a core 2 duo E6550?

ive got a core 2 e6550 in my system and wondering how far i cant overclock it to and what is a good 24/7 OC to do on it?

 

my specs are if this helps:

 

MB: Gigabyte G31M-ES2L

RAM: 4GB DRR2 genric (in dual channel mode)

CPU: core 2 duo E6550 (Stock) @ 2.33GHz

GPU: Palait 512MB 9600GT

I suppose you could give 2.8GHz a shot, since it would be okay with your board. You can work from there to see how much more you can push on than 400MHz on your FSB on the motherboard.

Should do 3 pretty easily on a decent cooler.

 

Ouch, maybe not. 7 multi is fairly low. You'd need like 425fsb for that. Altho it is possible, I was running 448fsb on my X48-DS4 and you can sometimes push them to 500fsb if the board is willing.

What cooler do you have?

currently stock intel one. whats a good replacment?

also can i do 2.6 with the stock cooler?

I can't see why you can't.

Most of the C2Ds run cool anyways.

Hey Jdog, I got my e6550 to 3.01Ghz on the stock cooler.

 

I just took some screen shots of the bios settings actually tonight so I can put them up if you want? I have a gigabyte mobo too. Although I'm not sure how your generic ram will do, as my geil ddr2 memory is overclocked with the CPU due to the FSB increase
