AMD conFusion? Forget the hype!

They cannot succeed because they're heavily invested in x86. AMD have experience with RISC designs, and MIPS is up for purchase. If Nvidia can pull Tegra out of their hat, i don't see why AMD couldn't do something similar.

Like I posted in your MIPS article. AMD used to make their own RISC's. They pioneered the modern CPU. Continually challenging Intel to copy them but with more funds resulting in a better implementation.

 

Recently they have proved their ability to beat Intel in the power/performance/per watt with both Llano, and Bobcat... and they are continuing to stay ahead. Thanks to the paradigm shift in CPU requirements. Maybe in years to come when Intels not watching their desktop division, AMD will land another right hook like they did ages ago.
