Wireless Card

Recommended Posts

Im looking for a good wireless card that will work with Windows 7 64-Bit and is under $30. The router that i will be connecting to is a maximum of 3 plaster/wood walls away and will need to be able to get through these without causing me any lagg while playing online fps games like TF2.

Ive been looking at these 2 cards.

ASUS PCI-G31 54Mbps 802.11b/g Wireless PCI Adapter

Tp-Link WN350GD 54M Wireless PCI Card with Antenna

Any other reccomendations? Willing to pay upto $50 if its really necessary. Ill be getting it from PCCG so please include links from there.

I'd go with the TP Link WN350GD as it is $2 cheaper, but a number of factors can effect you at the receiving end.

Example, your card may not be sensitive enough to receive weak signals, so you would need a good SNR (signal noise ratio) but a external antenna with 6-12db gain may compensate for the loss,

2nd, your router maybe not be broadcasting a 100% power which is usually factory set to a certain amount of power which means you would need some sort of custom firmware to adjust the power.

Anyway, either card is fine, but I wouldn't rely on the small black antenna that comes as your not gonna have a very high chance of connecting to your router at the highest link quality/speed and your games will suffer horribly.

Btw, your link to the TP Link WN350 leads to the ASUS PCI-G31
