After my 2009/2010 build, my old dusty antec super lanboy needed some 2011 loving.

2009/2010 previous build.

Mine has had some love over the past few months.

Cooling Additions:

Added extra cooling to cater for the SLI boiling up the system, which meant added higher case feet to raise the height and added a 120m fan on the bottem + a 2nd 80mm in the window.

Added new lighting system, apart from removing the small green cathode (which exploded from heat). I've wired up 3 sound sensitive cathode modules externally to my left/right/sub speakers. Feed them back to 2 red 5mm leds for left/right & the white cathode can be switched from full on/off or activated from the sub. This was a challenge as i wanted to channels to not pickup each other sound but by mounting the sensors inside each speaker box that fixed that issues. Now my case has an awesome 5.1 light show haha.

Added front 5 1/2" bezel fan, an old high rpm Thermaltake cpu fan. This is controlled by the 12v/0ff/5v switch on the fan bus and was added to cool the new SSD & Top HDD.

Added behind the top HDD/SSD i added an internal 80mm fan with a 90 degree duct which help pull the air from the from top intake down into the cpu cooler more directly. This plus the new top bezel fan made the air flow much like a wind tunnel and less random.

Hardware additions:

Added a Samsung 830 Series 256GB SSD + a 2nd 1TB Samsung F3.

Added a HighPoint Rocket RAID 620 Controller.

For those who don't remember the specs from the original post or cbf finding it.

i5 2500K OC@4.6

Asrock Z68 extreme 3 gen 3.

16Gb Gskill Ripjaw OC@1866 10-10-10-28

SLI Nvidia GTX460s OC@900/2000/0.975v for everyday, or @970/2320 w/1.087v

Storage now totals 5TB + 256 SSD.

Heavy modded Antec Super Lanboy.

I'm currently looking at investing on a XSPC water kit, if i can workout the best way to mount a 240mm rad on top on the case and if i can get my hands on some full cover gtx 460 blocks. This should let me crack 5ghz again more effectively as heat has been my down fall so far with my current cooling.

Also the reason i added the top window was because i had modded my old CD Drive years and years ago with a window. So this my old AMD 3200 Barton system from way back.

Um it's off an old Thermaltake cpu cooler from the athlon/P4 days. It was when Vantec tornado's & deltas started making there way onto CPU coolers for those wanted the best air cooling. Thermal take made a all copper sink and that was the fan on it. it's not as loud or as fast a the other high end fans. but it pulls huge air for its size. I've actually still got a 80mm vantec tornado here and its about 75% as good as the tornado. But i mostly run it on 5volts and was only added this summer during our mini heat wave here in tas. lol.

This is it. Thermaltake Extreme Volcano

The Volcano is much quieter compared to the tornado and its highest rpm sound is much deeper. thanks to its 3 fins. kinda like a 8v compared to a v12. haha.

Sorry I forgot to update my sig, there fixed.

I was looking at a Powercolor one on one website, but found the MSI one was better value on a diff website.

I plan on putting an Accellero 3 fan cooler on the GPU so will post pics when that arrives.

what specs ameel?

It's an Intel G620 with 8gb ram (probably overkill on the ram), running ubuntu.

Holy shit on a stick, how many hdd in there and whats the total storage size?

Has 15x 2tb drives + 1x120gb (OS drive)

Currently configured in 10x2tb Raid6 and 5x2tb Raid5. I'll be switching to non-raid fairly soon though (so capacity will be literally 30tb).

Btw, this is an I-Cute case which is just mid ATX case (not even full size). I 'modded' with 3x 5-in-3 5.25" to 3.5" bay converters, hence 15 HDDs

yeah i know xD there's still some empty space though (not in the tray, but generally in the case). I'd put more HDDs in if I could D:

(there's space for another 5 next to the PSU!!)

aagghhhh, I might look into building a case from scratch or something. maybe acrylic (although not sure about weight and other considerations)

Just build a case out of 3.5" drive bays, problem solved! :P
