Yet another new build....

Recommended Posts

Started a new a build last week. Really excited....first new build in a long time. My supplier has been out of stock for some of my bits so it's taking it's time.

Here's a list of the parts so far.

Case: Coolermaster Advanced 690. removed the front blue fan, replaced the blue with the silent black 140mm that was on the top. mounted a 120mm red zalman fan at the top. i hate black cases with blue led fans..

Motherboard: Gigabyte P55A-UD4P

Ram: Mushkin Silverline PC3-12800

CPU: Intel i7 870

CPU cooler: Corsair H50

debating on using my existing psu, the Corsair HX620 as it will be more than enough for the build. Besides the Coolermaster GX 750w I ordered is on backorder.

Hdd are going to be a 500 gig for main and a 1tb for my movies and pics.

so what you think sofar???

I think it's great considering the price of the i7 870.

Any reason for the Superclocked version of the GTX 460?

He only had 2 460's in stock and they were both the superclocked version, and besides he let me have 1 for $280.

Considering how pricey evga cards are $280 for the 1gb superclocked is a bargain, I'm trying to restrain myself from getting gtx 460s in sli seeing as they perform roughly the same as xfire 5870s.

Nice build, your PSU should be more than enough for it too and I daresay its better than the CM PSU you have ordered anyway. Get rid of the CM PSU and grab another GTX460 :D

I have to agree there with Nukejockey, CM make OK PSU's, but Corsair makes excellent ones. And seeing as you have the UD4P, SLI will run good, so GTX 460's in SLI would be awesome

And yeah, I too prefer cases with lights other than blue (blue is ok, but I like something different). I had the choice of a CM 690 or a CM Storm Scout, went for the latter as it looked cooler and had red LED fans

But, it's a pin in the ass trying to get any new red LED fans, I'd like to put all on/of CM ones, but they don't sell them separately :(

the cm silent led fans are good, they look good and the leds arent over bright, so you dont need to worry about turning them off.

My last case had red lights/fans, the one before that was green and the one before that was blue, now my current one is purple (UV) sexy.

order for the CM psu is cancelled. decided on 2 x 1tb and Win7 HP 64bit (all I need). I forgot to mention another piece to the build..
