I was impressed when I first saw the specs, but when you look at it from a technical perspective, it's nothing more than two Vertex 2 drives in RAID0 - in PCI-e form. That means no TRIM, and another valuable PCI-e slot gone.

no trim is the only downer. +1 its still making me think twoce about buying an ssd, theyre pretty good for the money i have to admit, PCCG has stock of a few of them. id like one just for my games... and another ssd just for my os....but thatd be freaking expensive.

edit: i wonder if you could somehow turn raid off on this thing? that would be a handy feature.

Anyone got one, tried one, heard anything about them?

Saw their ad in this month's mag and it got me interested.

I'm showing some interest aswell. If you haven't already, here's a review I read afew days ago.

Interesting theory, turning raid off. Have 2 ssd's running off the pcie bus.

thanks for the review i liked it! turning off raid shouldnt impact the pcie bus in any way (that i can think of) as it wouldnt be any different than raid setup (as it is made of two drives). theoretically you should be able to turn off raid, perhaps by disabling the onboard raid controller? or someone should make TRIM work with RAID lol.. like ocz is rumoured to be doin yay. might save up for one of these, just as a toy :) Edited by tunksy

yep this. I was a little out on the model number

http://www.acard.com.tw/english/fb01-produ...p;type1_idno=13

and there is the two channel model

http://www.acard.com.tw/english/fb01-produ...p;type1_idno=13

and the external

http://www.acard.com.tw/english/fb01-produ...p;type1_idno=13

This single channel internal one is the fastest in terms of iops at 130,000. for whatever reason the two channel version only does 20,000 per port.

Given that these don't have the option of TRIM, are they significantly faster than two individual SSD in RAID0? My meaning is that with individual drives you can return them to non RAID with TRIM in the future.

I also see that they're working currently on Gen II.

the idle garbage collection seams to take care of most of the issues. just from looking at the ibis preview on anandtech, im beginning to think this trim feature is now a little over hyped, with the garbage collection working so well.
